Chapter 66
Wrtsil Land & Sea Academy 1 Chapter 66
Chapter 66
Important: The parts must be cleaned before fitting them; above all lubricating oil bores and lubricating ducts must be kept absolutely clean to protect the ball bearings ! This applies to the lubricating oil supply piping as well ! 1) Provide the housing Pos. 008 after pinning with parallel pins Pos. 055. 2) Fit the housing Pos. 008 and measure dimension "a" in accordance with detail N. Then remove the housing again. 3) Finish-machine adjusting disc Pos. 009 to dimension " x ". 4) Fit the elastic screw Pos. 003 in the lever of the connecting unit Pos. 004. see section A-A and detail L 5) Mount connecting unit Pos. 004 on drive shaft. see sections A-A and C-C
Wrtsil Land & Sea Academy 3 Chapter 66
7) Fix adjusting disc Pos. 009 and packing ring Pos. 010 with screws Pos. 36; do not tighten them. see sections A-A and D-D 8) Insert shaft encoder drive Pos Pos. 012 with packing ring Pos Pos. 011 over elastic screw Pos. 003 in housing Pos. 008. Important: The front side bore 8 in the shaft of the shaft encoder d i must drive t mesh h with ith th the l locating ti pin i of f the th connecting ti unit it P Pos. 004 see detail L ! Fasten shaft encoder drive and adjusting disc, and secure them (Pos. 036, 040, 052, 053). 9) ) Check the fitting g positions of lever and springs g to the connecting g unit through the inspection opening in housing Pos. 008; pay special attention to the connection in accordance with detail L, turning the crankshaft !
Chapter 66
10) Pre-tension elastic screw Pos. 003 and nut Pos. 054 with the specified torque load. Important: While tightening firmly hold the shaft to the shaft encoder drive ! 11) Turn piston of cylinder no. 1 to " T.D.C. ". 12) Check if all the marks on the shaft encoder drive Pos. 012 are in the specified position see assembly drawing and instruction 4 107 364 924 chapter 4-107.364.924 h t 3 3. 13) Fasten sensor cable. see sections B-B, E-E, F-F 14) Fit remaining parts, depending on equipment.
Chapter 66
15) Prior to putting the engine into operation check lubricating oil flow at shaft encoder drive through the inspection opening in housing Pos. 008. see section K-K KK 16) Periodically check the lubricating oil flow to protect throttle Pos. 025 from possible soiling !
Chapter 66
1) Insert shaft encoder Pos. 003 in guide of bearing housing Pos. 002, and fit with inner bolts, washers, and locking plates (Pos. 014, 026, 029) 2) Push shaft encoder Pos. 003 inwards. Important: The holder of the shaft encoder should be easily movable in the guide ! 3) ) Place toothed belt Pos. 005 and bring g the mark of g gear wheel Pos. 004 to position "TDC 1" (vertically pointing to the top). Important: locating pin in bearing housing opposite (vertical to the bottom), see view B. 4) Align the horizontal marks on gear wheel and holder of shaft encoder Pos. 003 with each other. 5) Push shaft encoder Pos. 003 outwards till toothed belt is slightly tensioned.
Chapter 66
6) Check if the marks are in the positions prescribed (see view B) and whether the toothed belt is meshing properly with the gear wheels. 7) Fit outer bolts, washers, and locking plates (Pos. 014, 026, 029). 8) Carefully align toothed belt in moving direction. 9) ) Attach spring p g balance to shaft encoder as instructed according g to drawing g in Gr. 9492-01, and load it with a light weight. 10) Loosen all bolts (Pos (Pos. 029) of the shaft encoder concerned until it can easily be moved in the guide. 11) Tension toothed belt with max. max 4.5 4 5 kg (better 3.5 3 5 4.0 4 0 kg) by means of the spring balance ! Important: Take care of pulling the spring balance carefully in t tensioning i i direction di ti in i order d to t minimize i i i the th friction f i ti in i holder h ld guide id and screw seats !
Wrtsil Land & Sea Academy 8 Chapter 66
12) Slightly wedge shaft encoder with two screws facing each other ! 13) R Rotate t t d drive i shaft h ft several l times ti to t allow ll the th toothed t th d belt b lt adapting d ti freely to its running track; repeat the tensioning procedure if the belt slackens ! Important: In case the transducer is to be exchanged on the engine, turn the crankshaft ! 14) Align the long tab of lock washer Pos. 026 and then bend it as shown in view B. Important: Used washers are to be replaced for each retensioning of the belt ! Above all all, bend back the long tabs before re retensioning, to keep free movement of the holder in the guide ! 15) Tighten and secure the bolts Pos Pos. 029 as instructed !
Chapter 66
16) Fit the toothed belt protection (Pos. 011, 013). Important: Carefully align the protection plate while seeing that enough h di distance t i is k kept t to t movable bl parts t ! 17) Check the belt tension after about 5 running hours, re-tension if necessary. Further checks following the instructions given in the Operating Manual !
