Hypothesis: does grade classification progress or regress marijuana use? In this paper I

try to figure out do college older college students smoke more then younger college

student. I think that they do because the older u get the more work it is. What I

experienced in school the workload do get much harder. The workload goes up, you have

due date. papers etc. this can drive a upper classmen to smoke more. Then you have the

lower classmen which workload is simple may not smoke more then the upper classmen

because the stress level isn’t that high. So they smoke less or not at all. So that’s why I

think that upper classmen smoke more then lower classmen.

Rationale

Like I was explaining in my hypothesis the upper classmen will smoke more then

the lower classmen do to stress levels. Upper classmen are face with harder work and

perfection vs. the lower class students that have basic classes. Also upper classmen

smoke more because they have be expose to marijuana then lower classmen. That’s how

my independent variable affect my dependent variable. Whites upper classmen smoke

more then black upperclassmen. In my report it shows that whites smoke more marijuana

then black from there freshmen to senior year by at least 40%.

Discussion

In my results I find that whites smoke more marijuana then blacks overall and

lower classmen smoke more then upperclassmen . Starting with black freshmen 120
Project 4 5

students said they tried it twice, 11 freshmen said they smoke marijuana 3-39 times

while 30 said they smoked 20-100 which make the average 29.4 %. Sophomores 133

students smoke 0-2 times 20 said they smoke 3-39 times and 33 sophomores said they

smoke 20-100 times which makes there average 33.3 % . 76 Juniors said that they

smoke marijuana 0-2times 11 reported they smoke 3-39 times and 17 smoke marijuana

20-100times. Finially you have seniors. 75 % said they smoked 0-2times 14% said they

smoke 3-39times and 17 % said they did it 20-100times which brings blacks row total

568 blacks they have tried marijuana from freshmen to senior year.

Then you have whites smokers. Freshmen 394 white students said they smoke weed 0-

2times 88 students said they tried it 3-39times 147 said they smoke 20-100times which

bring the freshmen total 636. Sophomores 451 said they tried it 0-2times 129 smoked it

3-39times and 187 sophomores said they smoke marijuana 20-100times making the total

771. 291 Juniors smoked 0-2times 93 smoked 3-39times and 128 juniors smoked weed

20-100times.bringing their total to516. Finially u have seniors 319 said they smoke twice

102 students smoke 3-39times and 104 smoked 20-100times. All together 277 black and

white freshmen smoke weed . Sophomore have 319. Juniors 203 and seniors 197. So in

my conclusion lower classmen smoke more marijuana then upper classmen.
