The companys head office is in Stoke-on-Trent in the United Kingdom. It has sales, distribution and processing operations strategically located around the world. Brown McFarlane holds the widest range of sizes and specifications in Stainless and Carbon Steel Plate products. Our product range includes Stainless Steel, Duplex and Super Duplex, HIC Steel Plate, Boiler Plate and Pressure Vessel Steel Plate, Abrasion Resistant and Structural Steel Plate, Chrome Molybdenum and Ultra High Yield Plate. With a financial strength based on 120 years of prudent trading, the company can be relied upon to service the largest of contracts on a global basis. Business started in Glasgow by Captain A. R. Brown. George McFarlane joined and a new company was formed. Business concentrates on supply of quality steel plate. Profile cutting of plate starts. 2 hectare site in Stoke-on-Trent purchased. Export division opened in Birmingham. Brown McFarlane International opened in Dubai. Brown McFarlane Africa opens in Richards Bay, South Africa. Durban branch opens in South Africa. Singapore office opens. Brown McFarlane Africa opens a branch in Johannesburg. Brown McFarlane International in Dubai opens a new service centre.

In addition to the cutting of steel we offer a comprehensive range of finishing services enabling you to buy the part rather than the plate. Linked to our quality systems we offer additional testing to enhance the value of the product.

Most of our steel plate is purchased well in excess of various international standards, allowing us to re-test to higher specifications where possible. Our services include:Re-certification HIC to all NACE specifications Sulphur Stress Cracking (SSC) Ultrasonics to the highest levels Through Thickness Tensile (TTT) MPI/DPI Charpy Impacts Check Analysis (PMI) Hardness Bend Test Room Temperature and Elevated Temperature Tests Simulated Post Weld Heat Treatment Lloyds, DNV, ABS, Royal Sun Alliance and all third party witnessed tests.

Moreover Brown McFarlane implements a process of continuous improvement to ensure that our quality systems are permanently being appraised and upgraded.
