Studio Assistant to Wayne Higby: Earthcloud, Miller Performing Arts Center, Alfred University, Alfred, New York Earthcloud is the largest hand-cut, porcelain tile installation in the world. Designed, constructed, and installed in Alfred, New York, the summer of 2012 marked the final installation of a decade-long manufacture. Teaching Assistant to Michelle Illuminato, Freshman Foundations, Alfred University, Alfred New York Teaching Assistant to Kala Stein, Sophomore Wheel Throwing, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, NY This course served as an introduction to the potters wheel. While providing basic throwing techniques, the course was designed to encourage creative and innovative approaches to wheel-based design. Students were exposed to historical pottery as well as the full range of firing processes, including electric, gas, salt, soda, and wood firing kilns.

Teaching Assistant to Andrea Gill, Sophomore Hand Building, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred New York This course covered an extensive range of ceramic processes, exclusive of the potters wheel. The assignments focused on experimentation with ways of making, using ceramic materials and technology. The focus was on understanding how materials and methods of working contribute to the meaning and success of the work.

SKILLS:
A critical awareness of contemporary and historical ceramic craft and expression. The safety-minded understanding of the operation of an advanced ceramics studio including clay and glaze science, mixing, and the management of raw and hazardous materials, tools, and equipment. Familiarization with Gallery / Exhibition Installation including maintenance and the piloting of mechanized scissor-lifts. Implementation of a wide array of organizational systems designed to keep a ceramics department stocked, clean, safe, and efficient. Instruction of beginning through advanced ceramic handbuilding and wheelthrowing, including the instruction of beginners, majors, graduates, and non-traditional students. Firing, maintenance, and anatomy of gas and electric operated kilns, including those of the manual, automatic, and atmospheric variety.
Extensive knowledge of firing theory including low-fire, mid-range, and high-fire temperatures, techniques. Advanced Plaster, Alginate, and Rubber Mold Making for prototyping, slip casting, press molding, sledging, and slumping. Documentation via digital photography Proficiency with Adobe Design Software Proficiency with sound and video editing Access to an extensive network of like-minded artists and technicians on the national and international level.
