Investigations following Vaas detention despite Gotas objections unearth list of 57 potential businessmen victims

(Lanka-e-News-12.June2013, 11.45PM) The interrogation into the heinous crimes committed by DIG Vaas Gunawardena following his arrest has unearthed a wealth of information pertaining to his gory criminal record . 2 vehicles and firearms of the police department which DIG Vaas had used to commit abductions and murders for blood money have also been taken into custody. The firearms include mini Ushi firearms,T56 weapons and 4 Czechoslovakian Browning pistols have been issued by the police in the respective divisions of the police headquarters. Of the two vehicles , one had been used by his underworld criminals . Based on information elicited from Vaas closest main sidekick Bamunusinghe SI , to commit some murders , two vehicles of the defense Ministry had been used. Those vehicles have still not been taken into custody. Bamunusinghe had further revealed that Vaas had been engaged in these contract murders and extortions for the last 2 years. Apart from the evidence of the witnesses , the CCTV cameras installed in the city also have recorded the scenes: How persons are abducted in vehicles; how they go to abduct them ; and how the abductees are transferred from one vehicle to the other have all been recorded by the cameras. It has also come to light Rs. 20 lakhs and Rs. 10 lakhs have been taken under a contract to oust the tenants in two houses in Dehiwala. In the 20 lakhs contract Bamunusinghe had received Rs. Two lakhs while in the 10 lakh contract he had received Rs. One lakh. The constables involved had been paid Rs. One lakh each. The two chief occupants of the two houses had been abducted and murdered. In addition to these atrocities and gruesome crimes , Vaas had been extorting monies from businessmen after introduction to them at parties where he participates as a high ranking police officer. Towards these extortions he had been using the underworld criminals , Kotte Nishantha alias

Chakku and their assistants , Chandana and Chamara. After collecting the visiting cards of these businessmen at the parties , through these criminals to whom he gives the details of the businessmen available in their visiting cards , he collects extortion monies amounting to Rs. 20 to 30 lakhs employing these underworld criminals after frightening and intimidating the businessmen. Vaas receives half of the collection. If for some reason the businessman refuses to yield to the extortion demands , using Bamunusinghe and his team, the businessman had been abducted and extortion money somehow collected, and in most cases the victims are killed thereafter. So far in the list given by Vaas to the underworld criminal Kotte Nishantha alias Chekku there are as many as 57 names . Until tonight Chekku had not been arrested. It is a practice for businessmen to seek and introduce themselves to police higher ups . In the case of Vaas , he had exploited that relationship to extort monies , and where a businessman refuses payment , the latter is abducted and killed. Incidentally , we wish to make a comment on the reports in another media in this connection : the story concocted by a journalist coolie ( a Weera-singhe alias Balu singhe) attached to a media belonging to a MP that Vaas was arrested on the orders of Gotabaya , the defense secretary , investigations were initiated on Presidents advice , and that senior DIG Anura Senanayake ought to conduct the investigations , is an absolute lie. May we add that no media had the fearless and forthright approach to expose these criminal activities of a high ranking police officer a DIG backed by the political bigwigs of the country, except Lanka e news . It is because Lanka e news relentlessly and persistently kept on exposing the DIGs criminal activities that the government could not but launch the investigation into it. The aforementioned media coolie who collected kickbacks from the criminal and corrupt police higher ups like DIG Vaas Gunawardena , Lakshman Koorey SP ( arrested in connection with Jeyaraj Fernandopulle) and senior DIG Anura Senanayake after betraying professional ethics and scruples had been accepting cash from them , meal supplies for parties and building materials to build his house . The factual position is , it is none other than the defense secretary of the country , Gotabaya Rajapkse who had bitterly opposed the arrest of Vaas Gunawardena the abductor , extortionist and murderer. Initially the culprit had been detained only for 72 hours under police powers , as Gotabaya had refused to sign even the detention order. Latest report says the D.O (detention order) had finally been obtained for 72 hours. Even the President of the country originally instructed only to interrogate Vaas , and release him. Lawyer Anuja Premaratne and two Lawyer teams are appearing on behalf of this notorious criminal DIG. The President had instructed the Director of the CID , Gamini Mathurata to forward the charge sheet to him by 3.00 p.m. on the 11th. It is to be noted that even as the criminal activities of Vaas were getting exposed , the IGP has summoned both Vaas and Anura Senanayake , and instructed Vaas to tender his resignation in the face of these mounting criminal allegations. Vaas instead of complying with IGP s honorable request has contacted Gota after coming out and sought Gotas characteristic dishonorable advice and assistance . Vaas took this step because four persons near the Poddala Mahasen culvert , the two suspects who were released on bail in the Kahawatte murder , and Majestic Prabha were all murdered at the behest of Gotabaya. Shockingly , the defense Secretary of the country had taken a most unlawful step : he had told the IGP angrily , Vaas will not be resigning , and it is the IGP who should step down, if he wishes. Gota had also warned not to pave the way for publication of stories (however truthful) incriminating the government .

There are countless contract murderers in the Rajapakse regime, but just one foolish sprat among them has got caught , though so many are still free and carrying on their criminal activities with impunity. Apart from the Rajapakse regime condom theory of use and discard, its other theory is when a sprat of the regime gets caught, either try to save it , or if it is too entangled and cannot be saved , the regime follows the easiest course of sacrificing the sprat ruthlessly to save itself. In the Vaas Gunawardena crimes, if it cannot suppress its involvement , it shuts the mouth of Vaas permanently, in which case many others will also stay shut. One manipulation of the government to achieve its ends is to deploy its own scoundrels and stooges and conduct the investigation to suit its objectives , making Vaas to reveal only the crimes committed sans government involvement. At this juncture , it is the honorable duty of the media to take the cue from Lanka e news , and expose every rascal and criminal irrespective of posts and positions however high in the countrys hierarchy with a view to uncovering all the crimes committed in the best interests of the country.
