Respect Life
Unique in nature, and unlike any other creature, men and women possess something elevated and sacred that demands our special respect. When we violate that human dignity, we do evil. When we serve it, we do good. And therein lies one of todays many American ironies. We now live in a society that speaks persuasively about protecting the environment and rescuing species on the brink of extinction. But then it tolerates the mass killing of unborn children, and contemplates the killing of the sick and elderly in the name of their dignity. www.usccb.org/prolife

From the Pastors Desk

Today we begin our prayers for the Fathers Day Novena and all of the masses will be offered for our fathers, both living and deceased for nine days. We want to assure you that we priests will remember your fathers and your families in our prayers and we wish all of you a Happy Fathers Day. As you may know, the Archdiocese of Chicago will be doing the Campaign and all the parishes will be part of it. Next weekend we will listen to Cardinal Francis Georges introduction and invitation to that campaign. I am talking to the Archdiocese presenting the floor, roof, and lighting situation in our church asking at the same time that all the proceeds from the campaign be initially designated for the necessary and urgent renovation of our church. We started meetings with the representatives of the campaign and we will inform you when the campaign will start in our parish. I am hoping and praying that together we will be able to address all the needs and make our church a beautiful place of worship. I want to thank all those who organized and participated at the Mass and Procession on Corpus Christi Sunday. It was a beautiful manifestation of unity and belief that Jesus Christ is truly present in the blessed sacrament and that the Eucharist is at the center of our lives. I thank all those who prepared beautiful altars, procession, singing, and wonderful Italian bread that we shared after the celebration. I am grateful to all the parents who brought their children to be part of the Eucharistic procession. Fr. Rich
