An enthusiastic and skilled Deaf Inclusion Worker is required from September 2013 to work with a profoundly deaf child with cochlear implants joining our Foundation Stage. The DIW will be responsible for communication through BSL and speech as required. Qualifications necessary to fulfil this post will be a degree and BSL level 3. It is expected that the post holder will have regular contact with deaf people, the deaf culture and a qualification in Cued Speech. The DIW will support access to phonics and Literacy through Cued Speech and teach school staff and parents as required. The DIW will raise standards of BSL communication, so that the deaf child is fully included socially. The DIW will support the child to have full access to the curriculum through a Total Communication approach and so achieve NC outcomes equivalent to hearing children and reach his full potential.
