SPECIAL OLYMPICS & EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY MEMBER PROGRAM, 7 September 2013, Butler Stadium, Quantico, VA Volunteers will have the opportunity to choose to participate in the following ways: Serve as a Buddy for an athlete Time keeper Station/event monitor: Events are the triple ring jump, 25 & 50 meter run, obstacle run, long jump, shuttle run and more Motivator Sign-in and water station monitor Coach practice session in preparation for the event (1 hour a week for 7 weeks) * Any volunteer helping with the practice sessions will need to complete an Adult Class A * Any person that is volunteering on just the day of the event will need to complete a Class B form Volunteer forms may be obtained and must be completed and returned to the EFMP office at 122 Neville Road. 1. The American Red Cross is driven by volunteers who realize the importance of giving blood and work towards maintaining a healthy blood supply. A smiling volunteer can be the crucial deciding factor to motivate donors to give blood again. MARINE CORPS FAMILY TEAM BUILDING, Quantico, VA: A FANTATSTIC event coming! Do you have an interest in fashion, etiquette, shoes and the Marine Corps Ball? Save the Date! ExtravaGOWNza, in partnership with Marine Corps Family Team Building (MCFTB) and the Quantico Officer's Spouses Organization (QOSO) is coming on 19 October 2013! Marine Corps Family Team Building is looking for a few good volunteers to assist with the preceding fashion evening (look for it in September) & the ExtravaGOWNza. Volunteers assist with food sorting, checking dates, inspecting for Damage, stocking shelves with bakery, non-food and food items. Other jobs may be packing school pantry boxes and USDA pantry bags. Groups need to make an appointment with the Volunteer Services Manager. Requirements: Orientation and Warehouse Training. Volunteers can create their own schedule during Food Bank open hours. Open Hours are within Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-4:30pm, Wednesday 8:00am-5:30pm. Minimum age: 14 Program Interest: Warehouse 2. Volunteers learn about gardening and how it benefits the Food Bank. Garden duties include seeding/planting; daily watering; daily weeding; and harvesting. Requirements: The Garden is open from March until October. No experience is necessary, instruction is provided. Minimum age: 10 Program Interest: Garden 3. Volunteers are needed to pack supplemental food boxes for low-income seniors and those that receive disability. The following weeks we have volunteers and agencies that distribute these boxes to clients. If you are interested in doing this please contact the Volunteer Services Manager. Requirements: Packing is done every first Saturday of the month in the morning. Orientation is not required; volunteers need to sign up for this event. COMMUNITY RELATIONS, MCB Quantico, VA Responsible for tracking all volunteer efforts performed by Marines. Provide monthly stats to the Commander on how many events have been supported and how many total hours have been volunteered by Marines.
