Single Family Dwelling Unit, up to 150 sq meters floor area Example: The dwelling has a floor area of 145

sq. meters. Its has the typical household appliances, One 8 kW electric range Two 1 HP room ACU One 1.5 room ACU One 1HP water pump TOTAL LOAD: a) General Lighting and Convenience Receptacle Load ( Table 3.3.1.2b) Floor area x 24 volt-amp per sq. m = 3,480 volt amperes

The computed load is 3,480 / 230 = 15.13 amp One branch circuit of 20 ampere would be theoretically adequate, however for flexibility and to allow for future needs provide two 20-ampere branch circuits for lighting and convenience outlets.

b) Small Appliance Load: ( Section 3.3.1.3b and 3.3.2.7a ) One 20 ampere @ 1500 volt amperes = 1,500 volt amperes Provide one 20 ampere small appliance circuit

c). Laundry Circuit: (Sections 3.3.1.3c and 3.3.2.7b ) One 20 ampere @ 1500 volt amperes = 1,500 volt amperes Provide one 20 ampere small appliance circuit _______________________________ SUBTOTAL 6,480 volt-amperes

Application of Demand Factor ( Table 3.3.2.2 ) First 3,000 volt-amperes @100% Remainder @ 35% ( 3,480 x 35%) = 3,000 volt-amperes = 1,218 volt-amperes

c) Other Loads: One 8-kW electric range @80% D.F. ( Table 3.3.2.10) = 6,400 volt-amperes Provide one 40 amperes electric range circuit Two 1 HP room ACU , 8 amp x 230 V x 2 @ 100% DF = 3,680 volt-amperes Provide two 20-ampere room acu circuit One 1.5 HP room ACU , 10 amp x 230 @100% DF =2,300 volt-amperes Provide one 20-ampere room acu circuit One 1 HP water pump, 8 amp x 230 V @100DF =1,840 volt-amperes Provide one 20-amperes pump circuit _________________________________________ Total Net Computed Load = 18,438 volt-amperes CIRCUIT REQUIREMENTS: Use eight 20 ampere 2-wire branch circuits and one 40-ampere 2 wire branch circuit. SERVICE ENTRANCE CONDUCTORS: Total Full Load Current ( Sections 6.6.2.4 and 6.7.1.7) [ 18,438 VA + 25% (2,300 VA)] 230V = 83 amperes

Use two 38 mm2 THW wires , 32 mm RSC or PVC

SERVICE EQUIPMENT: a) Maximum Current Rating of Protective Device 1) Nontime Delay Fuse [ 3000 + 1218 + 6400 + 3600 + 300%(2300) + 1840] 230 V = 100 amperes

2) Inverse time Circuit Breaker [ 3000 + 1218 + 6400 + 3600 + 250%(2300) + 1840] 230 V = 95 amperes b) Service Equipment Rating 1) In case of ungrounded service: FUSE: Use one 200-ampere , 2PST, 250 volt , safety switch with two 125-ampere fuses (renewable); or CIRCUIT BREAKER: Use one 125-ampere trip, 2-pole , 240-volt molded case circuit breaker 2) In case of grounded service: FUSE: Use one 200-ampere , 1PST, 250 volt , safety switch with one 125-ampere fuses (renewable); or CIRCUIT BREAKER: Use one 125-ampere trip, 1-pole , 240-volt molded case circuit breaker
