THE UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY OF CHRISTINE QUINN IS PUBLISHED AS A SERIES OF POLITICAL PAMPHLETS

New York, NY (June 26, 2013) Volume I of Roots of Betrayal : The Ethics of Christine Quinn will become available for sale at Book Thug Nation in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and at St. Marks Bookshop in Manhattan. Roots of Betrayal, written by the LGBT blogger and activist Louis Flores, examines the arc of Christine Quinns political career, which nominally began as a heros journey before it morphed into a tale about political betrayals. The entire book will be serialized this summer in four volumes reminiscent of pamphleteering done in our tradition of bringing about political change. Before the advent of blogs and digital social media, political pamphlets allowed activists to mobilize voters, said Flores. My hope is that Roots of Betrayal will educate voters offline about how Christine Quinn is the worst mayoral candidate this year. Volume I of Roots of Betrayal documents a pattern of duplicity by Quinn, such as : When she was the executive director of the Anti-Violence Project, Quinn purged the staff in order to create the perception that she was professionalizing the agency, a move that wrongfully implied that her highly- respected predecessor was incompetent ; Even though Quinn took credit for helping to elect Tom Duane to the City Council in 1991, their campaign benefitted immensely from the redrawing of their City Council district around a growing LGBT voting bloc in the neighborhoods of the West Village, Chelsea, and Hells Kitchen ; In her very first race for City Council, Quinn began to accept campaign donations from people connected to the real estate industry at the same time that she was furthering the myth that she was a champion of affordable housing; and From the very beginning, there were questions about how Quinns political campaign would be perceived to be skirting the spirit of campaign finance laws that regulate the acceptance of undeclared in-kind contributions, such as when Maura Keaney, in 1999, was being paid by Tom Duane to work full time on his state senate campaign while at the same time Keaney was volunteering for Quinns City Council campaign.
