SOLVING TWO- STEP EQUATIONS Two-step equations are equations that require using more than one inverse operation in order to solve. First step: combine like terms on each side. Second step: simplify by using inverse operations of addition and subtraction. Third step: simplify by using inverse operations of multiplication and division.
