Presentation Title: Tools to help you and your students create, produce and publish
This presentation will demonstrate how to use a variety of tools for teachers to help engage students and for the students to produce creative work. You will gain knowledge about a variety of web-based tools and instructional strategies that will enhance and energize teaching and learning in the 21st century classroom. We will examine the uses of:
1. Google Docs for collaboration and to gather information a. Peer Editing assign students to writing groups and they share and revise each others work. b. Forms have students complete surveys for pre/postreading assignments c. Tests create multiple choice tests that can be graded by Flubaroo d. Share information share a document as a webpage 2. Weebly.com for ePortfolios and easy websites a. Class website publish announcements, tips and reminders for parents and students b. Class ePortfolio collect assignments and artifacts to be showed off and shared. c. Student ePortfolio - highlight classwork, community service activities, awards and recognitions. 3. Wordle.net for avatars, presentations and prior knowledge assessment a. Activate prior knowledge create wordles to introduce students to the lessons vocabulary b. Autobiographical sketch submit descriptive words c. Read and Respond student created wordless that summarize information read d. Analyze writing copy text from essays to see what words are overused. 4. Kidblog.org for student blogs a. Safe - Teacher controlled student blogs b.
