Ti me is an i mportant criterion for observation of meditation and such spiritual

practices. Generall y earl y morning hours, late night hours, s u n r i s e ti me and sunset
ti me are good for such activities. M y Guruji Shree Pre ma nandji alwa ys used to sa y
that when a Bhogi sleeps, a yogi wakes up. He uses to guide us to perfor m ma ntra
japa m during late night hours after 12:30 AM. There has been a great significance
and some hidden i mportance behind such ti me constraints. During night mo st of the
people are asleep. The air is free of vibes and different energies. It is clearer and
hence it becomes easier to me ditate. There are lesser distractions during such
hours. Shri. Pre ma nandji never use to sleep during night hours. We alwa ys use to
found hi m awake and in deep me ditation during such hours.

According to Shastras positive energies roa m our earth during earl y mor ning hours.
While there can be a big debate on the truth of this state me nt, one can definitel y
feel and sense har mon y, cal m and positive energ y in the mo rning air. This generall y
vanishes as Sun rises up. Sunrise ti me and sunset ti me have special significance as
well. According to "*Swaroda ya " our sush mu na is awake during such hours and
both swaras dominate during that ti me. In nor mal conditions onl y one nostril
disposes a swara and the process is repeated with alternative swara during each
hour. But during sunrise and sunset Sush muna awakes, and it is strongl y
recomme nded that one should perfor m so me spiritual activit y during such hours. It
is the reason, wh y e l d e r l y p e o p l e still guide us not to sleep during earl y morning hours
and during sunset ti me. According to Swaroda ya ever y work (Except Dh yan a or
me ditation) pursued during such hours, gets destro yed as darkness gets destro yed
when the Sun rises up. It is believed that me ditation is easier during such hours.

Besides these general i mplications, astrolog y also guides us to go for onl y

particular periods for Sadhnas and me ditation. The period of the fifth house lord,
ketu and Sthira lagna is used for initiation and sadhna. Vi ms ha ms ha chart can also
be used for this purpose if the ti me of birth is known. Moolas Nakshatras which are
considered ver y inauspicious can also be used for me ditation and mantra Japa m.
Moola signifies zero control, a rashi's beginning or ending with the sign indicates a
blank area. It is al most like a turn on the road. E mpt y but powerful. One needs to
channelize that energ y to gain some peace.

Mediation requires that fifth house, Sun and Moon should be devoid of an y b l e m i s h e s
and a fixed or sthira sign should be rising in the ascendant. The dasha lord should
be finel y placed and could have an association with fourth, eighth or twelfth house
lord. A person perfor ming the ritual should look for condition of Nakshatras and
Muhurta for initiation. His at ma karka should not be debilitated or co mbust in
transit and should be strong. This rule should be applied to a mat ya karka as well.
Mantra should be denailed and should be matched with his na me to see whether it
is beneficial or not. J u p i t e r should be influencing the ascendant, the fifth house lord
or the twelfth house or its lord in transit. The place me nt of Ketu in twelfth is also
good provided it as some influence fro m so me benefic like Jupiter or Mercur y. All
these conditions should be applied before perfor ming so me Sadhna.

A person with afflicted Fifth house or its lord and second house should be ver y
careful and should not recite ma ntras on his own. Debilitated Jupiter, Rahu dasha
should also be checked before recitation of a ma ntra. Mantras can fructif y when a
fixed sign rising in transit has its exaltation sign in D-9’s ascendant. It can be
awakened when Mantra pad carries beautiful transits and when At ma karka is
exalted in transits.
