July 2, 2013 Manifestation on Zamboangas Cases on Terrorizing, Merciless Killings and Forced Disappearances
We are in one with the people of Zamboanga in praying for peace to reign and to sustain once again. Recent incidentsthe abduction of the Bansil sisters last June 22, 2013, the merciless death of Justin Wee, bomb scares and shooting incidents were surfacing and are truly alarming. The safety of every citizen is a matter that has to be addressed and must be the utmost concern of the state, especially of the government of Zamboanga City. Fear is being extorted from citizens of Zamboanga, and we dread that in such a case, the feeling of being safe would be no where sensed. We thank the media for their publicity on the matter. But we hope that this case will not be underrated. The National Government has to feel the need to resolve these matters. They must feel that we are not only concerned much about pending legislations, oil price hikes and Metro Manila road incidents. But truly, our heart bleeds for the passion, the concern to our brothers and sisters in Zamboanga. We as a political party regard active non-violence as a tool to strengthen participation and awareness to the public, as such, we believe it fitting that this manifestation be a tool for every one to be aware and be attentive to the alarming incidents in Zamboanga City. We are in one with the SAMAHAN Central Board and every organization, political parties, and even informal groups who take initiative in voicing out their call for safety and peace in the ever beautiful city of Zamboanga. Truly therefore, we call, not only for every Atenean in Davao City, but to anybody where this manifestation could reach them to not only be aware, but to feel the passion, the concern to our fellow brothers and sisters in Zamboanga City. We call for those who have access in social media to speak about your viewpoint, grievances and prayers for them. Let us use social media responsibly by raising awareness campaigns and the likes. We call for government officials to continue work on for a solution about security so citizens could feel a sense of safety in their own cities. Ateneans, lets bring the being men and women for others to a higher scale. Stop the terror, Justice for the victims, Peace for Zamboanga!

PS: We invite Ateneans to take part in the July 3, 2013 candle lighting activity in the Freedom Park. Please wear anything black.
