Invalid Adjacencies
Adjacencies to slave BTS (ADCE and ADJG) Adjacencies where "Target Cell DN" does not match with Cell ID and LAC of target GSM cells with Cell ID and RNC ID of target WCDMA cell Adjacencies that have no "Target Cell DN" specified These should be fixed before continuing Correction plan is created in Optimizer Export to CM DB Provision

Adjacency Templates
Templates are created and managed in CM Editor

Presentation / PLe /23.8.2010

Adjacency Template Assignments

Rules have to be created for the template assignment

System template used if no rules or conflicting rules exist The priority of the rules is (in the order of importance) assigned cell template name (GSM and WCDMA) cell type (GSM) frequency band in use (GSM) frequency (WCDMA) * wildcard character (GSM and WCDMA) Rules are not user specific

Template Assignment Rules

Select a BSC, an RNC, or Common Cluster Assignment Rules and click Add

Adjacency type
Select adjacency type for rule creation ADJW used as an example Then select source and target categories Different possibilities for GSM and WCDMA source and target Asterisk (*) is a wild card (any selection)

Presentation / PLe /23.8.2010

Categories for GSM adjacencies

Select category for source or target BTSs Copy and paste can be used for additional rules BTSs must have the template name assigned for these rules to work

Categories for WCDMA Adjacencies

Select category for source or target WCELs

Presentation / PLe /23.8.2010

Template Name for the Rule

Select a template to be used for a new adjacency that has the specified categories for source and target cells Example: When creating an adjacency from a GSM900 cell to a WCDMA cell with frequency F1, Optimizer automatically assigns default values from ADJW template System (External) New templates become visible in Optimizer after clicking Refresh

Exercise
Check the available templates for adjacencies in CM Editor You can also create a new template from one of the existing ones Create one or more rules for BSC or RNC utilising this new template

Cell Labels in GAM

Cell labels can be used in Graphical Adjacency management to display the number of outgoing adjacencies for a cell Total number or type specific number of outgoing adjacencies

Adjacency Icons
To create or delete adjacencies or adjacency constraints use icons on the right side of the map If a plan is not open, Optimizer prompts to create or open one Create bi-directional adjacency Create uni-directional adjacency Create bi-directional forbidden constraint Create uni-directional forbidden constraint Create bi-directional mandatory constraint Create uni-directional mandatory constraint Delete selected adjacency (only active if one or more adjacencies are selected)

Creating Adjacencies, Method 1

If a plan is not open the user is prompted to open or create one Activate adjacency creation button on the map toolbar Press and hold down the left mouse button on top of the source cell icon Move on top of the target cell icon until the icon is selected Release the mouse button Adjacency line(s) drawn between the cells It is also possible to create uni-directional adjacencies to foreign target cells Cell labels show if more adjacencies can be created for a cell

New Adjacencies
Adjacency creation is active until selection arrow or a new tool is selected

Creating Adjacencies, Method 2

Open the cell pop-up menu and set the cell as a source The selected cell icon turns red Use mouse (and Ctrl-button) to select one or more cells as targets

Deleting the Selected Adjacencies

Verify that you have a plan open Select one or more adjacencies on the map and use pop-up menu or toolbar button to delete the selected adjacencies If the adjacency to be deleted is an actual object it changes color or disappears according to default visibility settings If the adjacency to be deleted is a new (created) one it disappears (removed from plan) Adjacencies can also be deleted in the Browser and Navigator

Adjacency Management Matrix

An easy way of managing intra SITE adjacencies and constraints Also usable for dependencies between selected cells Start by selecting a site or some cells from the map

Instant Adjacency Provisioning

Planned adjacency changes can be provisioned to the network directly from the Browser or from the Map (with sufficient user rights) Provisioning is done in the background using CM Operations Manager More information in the coming module "Provisioning"

Exercise
Practise creating new adjacencies in both ways presented! Use cell labels to find adjacencies that have a full adjacency list How can you verify that the created adjacencies get the correct template? Study default visibility settings effect on the adjacency creation and deletion (line color and visibility) Use Adjacency Management Matrix to check sites for missing adjacencies

Summary
There are six kinds of adjacencies in Optimizer ADCE between GSM cells ADJW and ADJG between GSM and WCDMA cells ADJD, ADJS and ADJI between WCDMA cells Invalid adjacencies may not display correctly in Optimizer and should be fixed before continuing adjacency management or optimization Adjacent cell templates can be created and modified in CM Editor Template assignment rules are created in Optimizer Adjacencies can be created and deleted on the Map and Navigator Adjacency Management Matrix can be used to manage intra site adjacencies Small adjacency plans can be provisioned directly from the Browser
