"Fake is as old as the Eden tree" Orson Welles Director of the timeless and ever relevant Citizen Kane

e (1941), a film that carries more weight now than it ever has. Conveying the power the media and certain individuals have to reflect and shape our society displayed through Lord Levisons Inquiry. Welles was a great illusionist, actor & director crafting composition and semiotics creating a movie ahead of its time reflecting a society ruled by hegemony. CGI is the forefront allowing the creation verisimilitude audiences can buy into. Modern directors fake reality or create entirely new ones. Hence, is my draw to the creative media industry. After reading Dancing in the Distraction Factory by Media Theorist Andrew Goodwin it gained an insight into Musicology and the way in which todays music and brand is reflected through visual mediums. Working at numerous UK festivals which gave me an unprecedented outlook of the high production multimedia installations of many high profile artists. Favourites included Adam Smiths aural/visual masterpiece: The Chemical Brothers, Dont Think. Impressed by its use of 3D motion capture, aural animation, and Luma Matte compositing. To see the live extension of their brand image reflected in such spectacular form & to see thousands of people actively participating in this brand experience was nothing short of epic. Working with digital compositing programs transforms passive viewing to problem solving. This has driven me to excel in this area unravelling the stages of which media is composited even down to specific render passes & working out how I could achieve a similar effect. The Channel 4 floating idents are for me the most frustrating. Not only due their consistency but the sheer simplistic concept executed with flawless precision to a standard I aspire to surpass. I apply for my chosen places recognizing that they offer me the chance to reach my optimal potential as a digital artist providing me with advanced facilities and tuition to extend my practical and theoretical knowledge of digital compositing. This will allow me to create greater illusions and solve bigger puzzles Im sure my future career in Animation will no doubt provide me with. My current A-Level Music Video project demonstrates involves Character Rotoscoping, 3D animation (Physical Rendering & Modynamics) integrated with 3D camera tracking (Boujou 5.0) of conventional moving camera shots. Displaying much enthusiasm for Brechtian Theatre I took a risk incorporating multimedia theatre in my A-Level Production combining audio driven lighting, animation, and contemporary physical theatre reminiscent of the previous festival installation experiences. My appreciation for music is reflect in my 3 year dedication to establishing college radio running weekly shows embedding it within college culture. A have made contributions countlessly within the learning community receiving appraisal awards including: RYLA, Rotary Digital Arts, and YG&T awards. I have also proved my lea for my dedication and effort representing my college. Outside media I take advantage of the coastal conditions and great rivers Surfing & Kayaking. I also cook as a part time job to fund my expensive media interests. Living rurally there is very little to offer from the Animation industry. The industry is driven by technology, a sector that doesnt stop. I have independently taken steps in the form of Web Tuition from the likes of 3D artist Rob Redman not only in Adobe After Effects but MAXON

Cinema 4D. This has allowed me to use the programs within my Media course to produce high level animation sequences exceeding well above what the syllabus expects. Freelance Videography work provides me with income I can reinvest my education & tools. I also am a keen photographer a skill that develops a creative eye and educating me on realistic lighting choices within the 3D world. Not to mention understanding to greater customize 3D camera configurations.
