I. Outline of Installation Procedures for MFP Machine System

When installing the machine and associated as a system, follow the order shown on the upper. Note: For the detailed installation procedures for each option, follow the instructions given in the corresponding Installation Manual and perform the procedures correctly. Once the Power Switch is turned on, do not turn off it until the installation work has been completed.

III. How to carry the product


Note: Lifting the machine in an awkward position or transporting it in a poorly balanced position could result in personal injury. When transporting the machine, assign an adequate number of persons to the job and ensure that each person can take a good position of not being excessively loaded. (mass: approx. 100kg) 1. Hold the machine by the locations indicated by the arrows, and move it while keeping it horizontal.

After unpacking, be sure to get rid of the packaging materials and keep them out of the reach of children. Putting your head in the plastic bag involves danger of suffocation.

V. Installation procedures
Note: Do not plug in the power cord until instructed to do so. 1. Visually check the appearance of the machine. 2. Remove locking tapes and the protection cushion from the machine and ADF. 3. Remove the accessory parts.
Note 1: A protective material is under the ADF paper feed tray. Note 2: Open the cover indicated in the circle and remove the protection cushion.

4. Open the ADF and remove the glass protecting cushion and glass protection paper.

5. Remove the optics unit locking screw.

6. Remove protective materials from the bypass tray. (1) Open the bypass tray and remove the interference protection cushions.

(2) Remove locking tapes, locking material, and protection cushions from the places shown below.

8. Remove the corona protecting pieces and lock the fusing pressure lever. (1) Open the right door, then open the conveyance unit. (2) Remove two corona protecting pieces on both sides. (3) Lower the fusing pressure lever to lock it. (4) Close the conveyance unit and right door.

7. Remove the accessories and the locking tape from Tray 1 and 2, then remove the locking guide tape.(Europe: Users guide is not included.)

9. Open the front door and remove the blade lock plate as shown below.

10. Supply the developing unit with developer. (1) Loosen one screw to draw out the developing unit.

(5) Attach the developing unit cover as illustrated below. Note: Be careful of deforming the scatter prevention sheet.

(2) Release the two claws of the developing unit as illustrated below, and then remove the developing unit cover.

(3) Pour the developer over the agitator screw evenly from the top of the agitator screw along its entire length.

(4) Turn the developing gear in the direction of the arrow, as illustrated below to coat the developer around the developing roller completely. Note: Do not turn the developing roller gear in the opposite direction of the illustrated arrow.

(6) Reinstall the developing unit to its original position. (1 screw) Note: Be sure to set the developing unit on two rails as shown below, then slide it in place.

13. Plug the ADF connector to the machine. 14. Install the User's guide holder on the rear side of the machine.

15. Install the drawer cover on the paper feed cabinet or the desk in the position shown in the figure below. (B tight screw M3x8: 2 pcs.)

11. Install the front cover.(TP screw M3x6: 1pc.)

16. If the LU-201 (large capacity unit) is not installed, install the fall prevention leg on the right side of the paper feed cabinet or the desk. (1) Remove the locking tape and the cover from the fall prevention leg.

12. Close the front door.

(2) Remove the right rear cover from the paper feed cabinet or the desk.(two screws)

17. Plug the power cord into the AC jack at the rear of the machine, and secure the cord with a nylon clamp.(S-tight screw M3x8: 1pc.)

(3) Install the fall prevention leg with two screws included in the package in the location where the right rear cover is removed.(SEMS II screw M4x50: 2pcs.)

18. Open the front door, then set the toner bottle. (See explanation label on the front door.) Note: Make sure to set the toner bottle before performing the TCR adjustment. Before setting make sure to align the toner bottle installation place.: Align the convex portion and the boss in the center.

19. Execute the TCR adjustment. Plug the power cord of the machine to the outlet, and turn on the machines main and sub power switches. Step

1. Press the [Utility/Counter] key. 2. On the [Utility/Counter] screen, touch Details and enter the following sequence [Stop]+[0]+[0]+[Stop]+[0]+[1] to enter [Service Mode]. 3. Touch Imaging Process Adjustment. 4. Touch TCR Adjustment. 5. Press the [Start] key. automatically stops with the <OK> message on the screen.

20. Execute the Non-image area erase check. Step 1. Touch OK to return to the [Service Mode] screen. 2. Touch Machine. 3. Touch Non-Image Area Erase Check. Note: Fully open the ADF. Do NOT place anything on the original glass. Clean the original glass if dirty. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions and press the [Start] key. 5. After the adjustment, if any message other than <OK> is displayed, deal as follows. Error 1: Handling method 1: When copy originals that have a dark background are frequently copied in non-image area erase function, install the machine in a location where less external light gets in (darker) than the present location, and perform the non-image area erase check again. Error 2: Handling method 2: If the non-image area erase function is frequently used, install the machine in a location where less external light gets in (darker) than the present location, and perform the nonimage area erase check again. At this time, when there is a bright light source such as a fluorescent light installed directly above the machine, reconsider the installation location, or take some measures to shield the light source and perform the non-image area erase check again. 21. Execute the various settings. (1) Enter installation date. Step 1. Touch OK to return to the [Service Mode] screen. 2. Touch System 1. 3. Touch Install Date. 4. On the [Install Date] screen, press the [C] key, and use the numeric keypad to enter the setting date in the order of year, month, and day. Note: Enter four digits for the year, and two digits for the month and the day. 5. Make sure to touch Entry. The installation date will be updated to the current setting.

(2) Enter service telephone number & fax number. Step 1. Touch END to return to the [Service Mode] screen. 2. Touch Tel/Fax Number. 3. On the [Service Telephone/Fax Number Setting] screen, use the numeric keypads to enter the telephone number. 4. Touch FAX. 5. Use the numeric keypads to enter the fax number. 6. Make sure to touch END. 7. Turn the sub power switch off. (3) Set date and time. Step 1. Turn the sub power switch ON. 2. Press the [Utility/Counter] key. 3. On the [Utility/Counter] screen, touch Administrator Setting. 4. On the [Administrator Certification] screen, enter the administrator password 12345678 (factory default) and touch OK. 5. On the [Administrator Setting] screen, touch System Setting. 6. Touch Date/Time Setting. 7. On the [Date/Time Setting] screen, make sure that the date and time are correct. If not, set the right date and time. Touch the key for the item you want to set (year/month/ day/hour/minute), and then press the [C] key. 8. Use the numerical keypad to enter the numbers. 9. Make sure to touch OK. The date and time will be updated to the current setting.

VI. ADF angle change


The opening angle of the ADF can be set at 70 or 40 degrees. Set the angle according to the customers request. Default setting at installation: 70 degrees. 1. Remove the screw of the angle adjustment plate on the rear of the ADF. Then, turn it upside down and tighten the screws. 2. Perform the same procedures for the other plate.

IX. Network Connection and Settings


[Connecting network cable] 1. Connect a network cable (category 5 or 5E) to the connector port. 2. Check if the connector port LED lights (LED1 and LED 2) are lit. LED 1 (top): Lit if connected to the LINK network. LED 2 (bottom): Flashes according to the connection status of the ACT network. [IP address assignment] Note: User networks and the PC environment are usually managed by technical administrators. When doing the following setup, be sure to check with the person in charge to get approval and proceed under that persons supervision. Step 1. Press the [Utility/Counter] key. 2. Touch Administrator Setting. 3. Enter the administrator password 12345678 (factory default) and touch OK. (You can switch between upper case and lower case letters with the Shift key.) Note: If an administrator password has been set already, enter the current password and touch OK. 4. Touch Network Setting. 5. On the screen that appears when the TCP/IP Setting touched, set the following items. TCP/IP Setting: Select ON. DHCP Setting: Select OFF. IP Address: IP address of the machine Subnet Mask: subnet mask of network to be connected to Default Gateway: IP address of the default gateway 6. Touch OK to return to the Administrator Setting screen. 7. Touch Network Setting. 8. Touch Network setting to check if it is ON. If OFF is selected, change it to ON. 9. Touch OK. 10. When the setup is completed, be sure to turn off then turn on the main and sub power switches. (Otherwise the new settings will not be registered. When turning the main and sub power switches back on, wait for 10 seconds or more after turning them off.)

VII. Operation check


1. Load paper in the trays and make sample copies. 2. Inspect the copy quality with the test chart fed from the ADF. Check items: Side edge, resist loop value, leading edge, etc. Adjustment: Refer to the Service Manual ADJUSTMENT/SETTING of Main body of Field Service. 3. Affix the Tray size label of specified size to each tray (NO.1 to NO.2).

[Confirming network connection by pinging] Step 1. Turn on the main and sub power switches of the machine. 2. Press the [Utility/Counter] key. 3. Touch Administrator Setting. 4. Enter the administrator password. (See step 3 in [IP address assignment].) 5. Touch Network Setting. 6. Touch Detail Setting. 7. Touch PING Confirmation. 8. Touch Host Address, enter the valid IP address or host name, and touch OK. 9. Touch Check Connection to send a ping. 10. After pinging is complete, a result will appear. If the test is unsuccessful, <PING did not succeed> or a similar message will appear. => In this case, check if the address or host name is correct and the network is properly connected, and try sending a ping again until the result is successful.
