South Dakota Electric Cooperatives alarmed by President Obamas proposal to increase regulations and costs
In a speech today at Georgetown University, President Obama announced a broad new federal mandate to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from electric power plants. The President will instruct federal regulators to apply the Clean Air Act to carbon dioxide issued from power plants, effectively outlawing coal-burning facilities. South Dakotas electric cooperatives are especially concerned about this proposal because rural and low-income Americans already spend disproportionately more on energy than others. The impact of the Presidents plan on co-op-served families and businesses could be significant in South Dakota, said Ed Anderson, general manager of the South Dakota Rural Electric Association in Pierre, S.D. Rural communities have been put through an economic wringer for the better part of a decade; theyve made incredible sacrifices. The Presidents plan fails to take into account electric cooperatives existing efforts to protect the environment in a responsible and cost effective manner. With more than 1,060 megawatts of installed renewable generation capacity in our portfolio, South Dakota electric cooperatives are doing a lot more than just talking about our commitment to the environment. That, coupled with the fact that electric cooperatives have been

leaders in encouraging energy efficiency and conservation for decades, should serve as a model for a responsible approach to addressing climate concerns, said Anderson We can move forward in our collective efforts to protect and improve the environment. And we can do it in an effective and affordable manner. Using the Clean Air Act to tax every coal-fired generation facility in the United States out of business is not a responsible solution. It is only expedient, Anderson said. I hope we can work with the President to form a more reasonable and sustainable plan, said Anderson.

There were two participants in this month's Special Events Day, Taylor Fisher and Macy Schiley. Taylor, constructed her own Zebra Apron with two pockets on the front. She sewed it herself. Taylor, also modeled a Summer inspired two piece outfit in Fashion Revue Class. Taylor will show her two piece neon outfit at the Perkins County Fair in August. Taylor, also gave a demonstration on how to properly make Black Cherry, Kool-Aid/Jell-O Popsicles at home. She gave a step-by-step demonstration, then letting the audience and the Judge sample the frozen tasty treat. Taylor received 3 purple ribbons for her efforts! Macy Schiley, constructed and modeled a bright and colorful tie dyed robe. Macy, wore the fleece robe with pink slippers, which tied the outfit together nicely. This isn't Macy's first year in 4-H, she knew just how to model and walk to show off her robe. The Judge thought she did a great job at sewing her robe, and gave Macy a purple ribbon. The Judge encouraged both girls to keep sewing. The Judge, Vi Leonard of Bison was a Veteran at Judging this event, and really knew what to look for in both Fashion Revue and the Food Demonstration. We look forward to more Children joining the Perkins County 4-H in the future. See you at the Fair!

Giant Tomato Competition Really? We hear about giant pumpkin contests, in fact Bison Master Gardeners sponsor a heaviest pumpkin contest at their Pumpkin Fest. We hope you are trying your hand a growing a prize pumpkin for this year. But giant tomato contests are not common, especially in this area. Maybe we should give that a try. The biggest tomato recorded so far as we could find was 7 pounds, 12 ounces grown by Gordon Graham of Edmond, Oklahoma. This winning tomato came from a 'Delicious' vine. Most huge tomato varieties are indeterminate (plants that grow and fruit all season) slicer or beefsteak types. 'Giant Belgium' produces sweet fruits that average 2 pounds. 'Hillbilly' is an heirloom beefsteak type with pink-and-yellow bicolored fruits that weigh in at 1 to 2 pounds. 'Big Zac' is a hybrid of two heirlooms, and it regularly produces 4-to-6-pound fruits! Well known big beef tomatoes ('Beefsteak', 'Italian Giant Beefsteak', 'Watermelon Beefsteak', and 'Beefmaster'), which produce heavy fruits. It's a lot of work to coax your tomatoes into really packing on the pounds. First of all, you'll need to provide the best basic care: full sun, fluffy soil with plenty of organic matter, lots of space between plants, an inch of water per week, and support (stakes or cages). Get the plants into the ground early and protect them with Wall-O-Waters or cloches. ( A small translucent cover for protecting or forcing outdoor plants.) Hold off on mulching until the ground warms up and the plants begin to flower. Fertilize every two weeks with a dilute fish emulsion fertilizer (be careful not to provide too much nitrogen, you'll get a lot of foliage and few fruits). A real tomato competitor knows how to identify the big king flowers or megablooms which they hand pollinate in hopes of producing that winning fruit. Megablooms are often described as conjoined with extra body parts, multiple pistils, sepals, floral whorls, thus easy to spot as they are big and abnormal. The beefsteak varieties are most often the winners as they have a higher number of locules (seed cavities) associated with increased weight and volume, most are heirloom or F1 hybrid varieties. Indeterminates are a must, large fruits need large plants. Once the plants begin to grow, the real training begins. Allow only one stem to develop, and pluck off suckers (the sprouts that form between branches and the main stem) when they are very young. Remove all but two or three fruits from each plant. It's best to eliminate developing fruits at the top of the vine and leave older fruits at the bottom. Prune off tomatoes that develop farthest from the stem and leave one fruit per cluster. Prevent branches from breaking by supporting the tomatoes with pantyhose slings when they start to get really big. And wish for some good luck. Maybe we can get a contest going for the Perkins County Fair next year. If you planted a beefsteak variety, give it a practice run this year. Perkins County 4-H Special Events Day

Fund raising discussed
The Stateline Right to Life Chapter met June 18th at the Grand Electric Social Room to conduct business. Fund raising events were discussed. The chapter agreed to obtain a booth on Friday at the Perkins County Fair to sell baked goods and garden produce from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. Other fund raising possibilities could be a bake sale at the Coal Springs Threshing Bee, a fall carnival, a bake sale and concessions sale at the school basketball games. Watch for more information on these events in the future. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, August 13 at 7 p.m. at the Grand Electric Social Room. Everyone is welcome to attend. Risk Corner --------------------------Welcome to Risk Corner Over the coming weeks we will explore insurance policies on a simplified level. Insurance contracts can not only be a little "dry", they can also be very confusing to say the least. We will be exploring Auto Insurance, Homeowners, Commercial, Crop/Hail, Health, RV's, Umbrellas, and the list goes on. We will pick a new subject for each publication. You can also look forward to a list of upcoming deadlines. Upcoming Deadline: 07/15/2013 Spring acreage reporting deadline for all South Dakota and North Dakota crop contracts. A common question: One of the questions we are asked over and over again this time of year is, "What is the initial plant date and the final plant date for a specific crop and what happens if we plant after the planting deadline?" Generally speaking if a crop is planted to early or prior to the initial planting date, the crop can be insured from a production standpoint. However, there is no replant option available should the crop freeze or be damaged in any other way. In some cases the crop may need to have an inspection done on it in order for insurance to attach to those acres. On the other end of the spectrum, crops planted after the final plant date are exposed to higher than normal risk of failure from drought, insects and many other perils. For most crops you can use a general rule of thumb. Please note this is not an exact calculation but should give a general idea. For each day the crop is "late seeded" those acres receive a 1% reduction in guarantee for the first 10 days. The second 10 days receive an additional 2% of reduction per day, after which the late seeded acres are uninsurable. Please contact your agent for specific crop/county inquiry's since they may vary.

Obituary LaVerne L. Stippich

Masonic Rites were held on Monday evening at the Centennial Chapel at 7:00 p.m. LaVerne LeRoy Stippich was born on April 23, 1920 on a farmstead 12 miles north of Hettinger, ND to Ezra J. and Ella A. (Johnson) Stippich. He was born into a family with 7 children. LaVerne attended grade school at the Argonne School No. 1 from 1925 through 1933. He worked for farmers around the Hettinger area from 1931 to 1942. LaVerne was married to Joyce Rebecca Moe at Baker, Montana on August 25, 1940. They had two sons, James Allan Stippich and Lonnie LeRoy Stippich. Joyce passed away September 4, 1989. LaVerne married Della Skogen Quickstad on November 10, 1990. They resided in Hettinger. LaVerne was a World War II veteran. He served in an Infantry Division in the US Army in Italy from 1943 through 1944. After returning home in 1945, he started trucking with his wife Joyce. They hauled gravel, grain and coal. In 1947, he began washing sand and gravel and in 1958, started Stippich Gravel and Ready Mix. The business name changed to Stippich, Inc. in 1974. The company diversified over the years to produce aggregate and ready mix concrete, the manufacture of pre-cast concrete products, is involved in concrete construction and buys and sells construction equipment worldwide. LaVerne loved Family. He attended and enjoyed family reunions from 1990 to 2004. He also loved flying, his business, heavy equipment, being a Mason, playing in a band, dancing and just living life. He was a member of many different organizations whether business, military, fraternal or community. He was a member of the Hettinger Lutheran Church. LaVerne passed away at the Western Horizon's Care Center in Hettinger on June 28, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Della Stippich, his sons, James (Linda) Stippich and Lonnie (Carol) Stippich, all of Hettinger, ND; his grandchildren, James L. Stippich, Jeffrey (Tonya) Stippich, Jolyne Stippich and Kimberly (Theron) Schalesky, eight great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, his sisters, Erlene (Marion) Grant, San Antonio, TX and Ruth (Henry) Lloret, San Jose, CA, sister-in-law, Minnie Moe, Spearfish, SD, brother-in-law, Norman Moe, Regent, ND and an aunt, Marjie Johnson, of Fargo, ND and many nieces and nephews. LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce, his sister, Joyce and three brothers, John, Raymond and Donald.

Sometimes life is discouraging - not life itself but the things you have to deal with and hear about happening in the world. This week as I was preparing to write this article, I was at a loss for words because of all of the disturbing reports in the news and what is going on in our country. I was reminded of a verse in the book of Psalms - "Be still and know that I am God." I have decided to "be still" and just let the Word of God speak in this week's article. Read these words in Isaiah 5: "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. ...for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel. Therefore, the LORD'S anger burns against his people; his hand is raised and he strikes them down." Isaiah 13 tells us: "I will punish the world for it's evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless." Word of God speak! "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says" (Revelation 3:22).

Robert was born on January 30, 1931, at his parents homestead in Dirt Lodge Creek south of Watauga, South Dakota; Bob grew up working livestock. He joined the Marines during the Korean War, where he received numerous decorations for his service, including commendations for fighting at the Inchon Valley Invasion and the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. After his return from Korea, he met and fell in love with Arlene Maxon. They were married on January 24, 1955, and Bob supported his family by ranching, shearing sheep, and training horses. While Bob was busy trying to keep the wolf from the door, the stork kept flying in the window. They were blessed with nine daughters and three sons. The family multiplied to include 39 grandchildren and 42 and 3/4

great-grandchildren. Although Bob had limited formal education, he was a proud graduate of what he called The School of Hard Knocks, and he dedicated a great deal of time to passing on his considerable knowledge to his descendants. At any family gathering, he could usually be found surrounded by children, showing them how bees pollinate clover, or how to tie a proper knot, telling them a story about the Candyman or Benjamin, or answering their questions on some project they were working on at the time. It was not uncommon, even in his later years, for people to come to him for advice on building something, raising children, or keeping a strong faith in difficult times. Robert Bob Baumeister died on the morning of June 29, 2013, at

the Sidney Extended Care surrounded by his family. Always one to leave on a high note, Bob passed from this world while his wife, daughters, and granddaughters were laughing and singing old cowboy songs. He is survived by his wife, Arlene (Maxon) Baumeister, his sons: Mike (Sylvia) Baumeister, Bart (Natalie) Baumeister, and Luke (Becky) Baumeister, his daughters: Teresa Howell, Lorie (Dick) Hach, Connie (Paul) Erz, Joan Baumeister, Nola (Jerry) Heiser, Samie Chambers, Beth (Herb) Clifton, and Jessie (Roy) Fisher, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara (Nehl) Baumeister, his brothers Willard, Victor, and Gilbert Baumeister, his sisters Alice Eiford and Betty Payne, his infant daughter Celia Marie Baumeister, his son-in-law Steve Chambers, his granddaughter Amanda Baumeister, his grandsons Christopher Heiser and Dominic Rettke, and a great granddaughter, Layla Rose Rehling. A memorial mass was held at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care in Sidney, MT at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. A rosary service was held at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Watauga, SD at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial was on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Watauga, SD. Interment was on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at St. Michael Cemetery in Watauga, SD.

2013 All School Reunion The year of the cardinal

The 2013 All-School Reunion started to take shape in January of this year. Meetings were held and with the help of Jody (Shea) Kerzman, a Facebook webpage was set up. Jody and Gladys Jackson posted pictures and events in order to get the word out on the Reunion. It seemed to work, people enjoyed the Facebook page and posted themselves, along with sending in pictures. This page will continue to be active and contain school and alumni news, so check back to it ever so often. If you have something you would like to submit or see on this page, please contact one of the Alumni Committee members. There were approximately 220 alumni in attendance with representation from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000. The oldest class to be represented was the Class of 1939 with one alumni present - Edna Martin who drove up from Spearfish to claim this honor. Bob Hanson was the oldest person there who had attended Bison High School; he is 94 years of age and attended school in Bison in the early 30s. Emi Lou (Fried) Ebarle, Class of 1974, claimed the honor of furthest away she arrived from Okinawa, Japan. The school was decorated with red and white and had cardinals nesting on the tables. The give-away was a cardinal stress ball. It was the year of the cardinal and the Class of 1993 took that to heart. This class felt that a new cardinal suit was needed as the old one was getting pretty shabby, so they donated a new cardinal suit to the school. The school mascot seemed to enjoy his new suit as he was seen all over the gym modeling it and showing it off to everyone, even getting his pictures taken in his new suit! This years program proved to be quite interesting as just before it began, a storm struck and electricity was lost to the gym for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. So not only did Alumni get plenty of time to visit, when the lights came on, they also got to experience a very nice program. Alumni Darren Jackson (aka Kid Dakota); English teacher, Eliza Bonacci (aka Eliza Blue); The Buer Family, (aka Todd, Tracy and Pam Anderson), all alumni and Sonny and Cher (aka misfits) performed for the crowd. A photo booth company from Rapid City was on hand and took pictures of friends (with the bird), alumni (with the bird), groupings (with the bird) you get the picture the bird was everywhere! Moms Caf made and served the meal, which consisted of pulled pork and beef sandwiches with all the trimmings, it was very good. Cookies and coffee were served all day during registration so that Alumni could visit with each other. Several groups had their own all school reunions around town; some even ventured to Deadwood, but returned in time for the All School Reunion. After work Monday, Tiss Treib drove to her Aunt Kari Hoff s home and had lunch with Kari Hoff, Dorena Wiechmann; Ethan, Katie and Christopher Wiechmann; Esther Johnson; Lance and Melanie Hoff of Helenville, WI. She then traveled on to Rapid City where she stayed with friends. Monday evening she met up with Barb Ledbetter of Xenia, Ohio and Donna Griffin of Columbus, Georgia. They went to the Firehouse Grill for supper and met up with Lori Armstrong. Later they went for drinks at the top of the Hotel Alex Johnson and were joined by Loris husband Erin. Tuesday was spent shopping and relaxing. Wednesday Tiss met up with Bobby Jo, Luke and Trinity Harris and they went shopping and out to lunch. Tiss left for home in the afternoon and stopped for supper at the Hoff home again. Supper guests included Luke, Amber, Lucille, Amos and Lydia Wiechmann; Dorena Wiechmann; Tiss Treib; Esther Johnson; Kari Hoff; Lance and Melanie Hoff of Helenville, WI. Tiss returned home later that evening. Tiss Treib and Michele Marthaller went out to coffee in Hettinger Thursday afternoon. Tiss Treib spent Sunday with her Aunt Kari Hoff and Mother, Esther Johnson. Thelma Sandgren drove over to the West Fredlund School and met up with her brother, Warren Van Wyk and son Kory and Hum LeFebre Wednesday. They drove to Heiers and visited with Gertrude Kooiman. Saturday evening church got stormed out. Sunday morning, Thelma Sandgren drove to church in Bison. It was so nice and at noon they went home. Linda Seim spent the week in Bismarck, while there she was visited by Kathy Seim and Ole Heraldson; Larry and Sarah Dreiske; Chris, Adam, Daniel and Anna Block; Sandy Renken; Mandy and Ella Anderson; Christi Miller. Sarah Dreiske, Kathy Seim and Ole Heraldson kept Linda company all week. And thanks for the many, many phone calls. Larry and Spencer Dreiske came out to the Seim ranch and tried to mow Friday. Thursday, Bridget Keller and Korbin traveled to Lemmon to run errands. Friday, Bridget Keller and Korbin went to Lemmon to get a bountiful basket and take pizza home to Duane and Dawn Harris' for supper where Luke and Trinity Harris are spending a week. Checking Summer Range in a Jeep

Whats great about ranch work is that every season the routine and duties change, yet doing the same chores every morning can get mundane. Checking cows and stock tanks out on summer range can get boring unless theres a way to make the task fun and enjoyable. Checking in a Jeep is the cure. Be-bopping around on summer range in a Jeep is the best way to spice up some of the summertime daily chores. These handy vehicles make the job fun to look forward to by adding interest, variety, and entertainment to checking salt, stock tanks, and cows. Checking our summer range takes up a chunk of the morning by the time all the stock tanks floats are checked, ensuring water isnt stuck on or off, messing with them if necessary, and making sure cows

are where theyre supposed to be. Driving a Jeep feels different than driving a pickup. You just dont get to experience the connection with nature in a pickup the way you do in a Jeep. They provide a way to slow down and savor nature with a long walk. Drivers feel a strong connection with the earth in a Jeep. Plowing through muddy roads and big mud holes with the top off brings the earth to your lap. Dogs love Jeeps and look forward to riding along since Jeeps are organically airconditioned and provide plenty of fresh air to sniff when the top is off. Jeeps are the ideal ranch rig for range and fence checking. They can be driven as fast as a pickup on highways and gravel roads but their compactness and tight-turning capabilities can maneuver mud holes, rough roads, no roads, and rocky terrain like a fourwheeler. I recently re-confirmed that a Jeep works exceptionally well on bulls. Jeeps can turn a bull around that got itself lost, and drive it back to the herd and I dont feel vulnerable in a Jeep the way I do on an ATV when a bull

want to try to turn around and take me. Jeeps outsize a fourwheeler and arent nearly as intimidating to steer and drive fast either. If youre the type that enjoys diversity, adventure, fun, and now and then a new challenge in your workday, you need a Jeep. If just checking cows in a Jeep isnt exciting enough for you, these handy terrain crawlers can up the excitement-and-adventure ante by creating adventures amidst your daily routine. Checking in a Jeep with the top off and returning home before it rains is always an exciting challenge. Jeeps also provide opportunities to take the scenic or long way home by breaking down occasionally, miles from home, which has happened to me before. Such experiences stimulate ones improvisational and thinking skills to get back home. It should be noted that such experiences are a part of Jeep ownership initiation, especially for owners of older Jeeps. If youre lacking in or yearning for a challenge in your daily ranch work you need a Jeep. It affords a sense of adventure amid routine and you get more than just the wind in your hair and sunshine on your shoulders. Where a Jeep goes you dont need roads; just an adventurous attitude and maybe some good footwear.

The only rain we got this week was 9 hundredths last Saturday and its been great haying weather. Temperatures havent reached triple digits here yet, but with the mercury in the eighties every day, summer is definitely here. With this hot weather, Bryce and Trig almost enjoyed fixing the river gaps across the Grand River that runs through our ranch. Casey installed our air conditioner on Wednesday and it runs every day. We started haying Monday so all our time is spent in the hayfield, running for parts, and fixing the breakdowns. Did you notice that seldom have to repair swathers, mowers, rakes, or balers when you dont have much hay, but with a good hay crop you almost need a full-time mechanic? But hey were not complaining! Brad Lemmel, Red Lemmels son with the South Dakota Department of Tourism, drove out from Pierre for the Great Western Cattle Trail Association meeting at the Heritage Center in Spearfish Wednesday evening. Rep. Lance Russell brought copies of the proposed articles of confederation for us to review and the group poured over a map of South Dakota to decide where to put the GWCTA cement markers to mark the Western cattle trail across our state. The markers are being made and donated to us by Croell Redi-Mix. Theyve done a wonderful job making the markers and we hope to soon be able to use Croells advertising slogan for the markers we place on the trail across western South Dakota - you know, the one that says Theyre everywhere, theyre everywhere! Thursday Reub and I made a trip to Laufers north of Hettinger for haying supplies and parts before Reubs appointment with Mary Eggebo in Hettinger. Mel Eggebo is doing well, but hes going to have more surgery soon, so please keep him in your prayers. While we were in Hettinger, I bought more tomato plants for my garden. The tomatoes I set out earlier arent doing so well. Some of them died and the survivors have leaves that are curled up to look like little green balls. Everything in the northern part of my garden is doing great, but the weeds and other plants on the south side of the garden are suffering from the same malady as the tomato plants. I cant see any bugs on them, the guys plead innocence when I accused them of spraying weed killer around there, and Im stymied. Do any of you know what could be causing this? Derek Brinks mother, Gayla (Long) Brink, passed away Thursday at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Gayla grew up in Bison where her parents, Cliff and Bea Long, ran the City Caf on Main Street. I sometimes babysat Gayla and her younger brother Greg. She was a wonderful person and much too young to leave this earth. Gaylas funeral will be Wednesday with burial at Black Hills National Cemetery. Our sympathy goes out to Gaylas family. Our community gained a new member Friday evening when Kelli Blair married Clint Doll in Sturgis. After the beautiful ceremony, a huge crowd of friends and relatives gathered at the Shade Valley Campground east of Sturgis to celebrate their marriage and to welcome Kelli into our neighborhood. Clints cousin, Michael Anderson, a.k.a Mad Dog, was one of Clints groomsmen and he brought his new wife Madison. Mad Dog and Madison were married a couple weeks ago in Colorado and it was a pleasure to meet her. Kelli and Clint will live in the house where Clints grandparents, Guy and Sylvia Doll, lived after they went to work on the Hackamore Ranch for Kellis great uncle, Harry Blair, back before Clints father was born. When I called the ranch to visit with Clints Mom on Monday morning, Janet told me that Kelli and Clint were out horseback moving bulls. She fits in well around here! Harry Blairs son, George Blair, was also at the wedding. George will soon be 92 years old soon and is as excited as we are about the newest Blair/Doll connection. All six of Georges daughters, Janet, Mary Beth, Nancy, Gayle, Kathleen and Ann, plan to run in Clints Aunt Elaine Doll-Dunns Leading Ladies half marathon in Spearfish August 18th. Georges daughter Nancy Remington just celebrated her 60th birthday by climbing Bear Butte for the 60th time. I think her Grandpa Harry Blair was 90 the last time he climbed Bear Butte, so the challenge is there for his younger relatives! Maurice Hamilton turns 90 on Tuesday, July 2nd and most of the Reva community gathered to help him celebrate at the Reva Hall Sunday afternoon. 94 year old Bob Hanson came to wish his old friend Happy Birthday and some of us got to wondering just how many WWII veterans like Bob and Maurice we have left in this area? Maurice was the only one we could think of in Harding County. Let us know if were missing anyone, will you? We had a Harding County history book meeting in Buffalo Monday evening. Copies of the book are selling fast, so if you want one, send a check for $80 for the two volume set written to Harding County history book to Alice Holcomb, 13699 Harding Rd, Buffalo, SD 57720 if you plan to pick the volumes up and $90 if you want them mailed. Ill leave you with this little bit of advice for all the newlyweds: At their granddaughter's wedding, the DJ polled the guests to see who had been married longest. It turned out to be the grandparents. The DJ asked them, "What advice would you give to the newly-married couple?" Grandma said, "The three most important words in a marriage are, 'You're probably right.'" Everyone then looked at Grandpa. He said, "She's probably right."

continued from page 12 Shirley Johnson accompanied Tiss Treib home Saturday afternoon and was a supper guest. John picked Shirley up later in the evening and had ice cream. Tiss Treib called on LaVonne Foss Sunday afternoon on her way home from work. Tiss Treib visited with Barb, John and TJ Bartell Sunday evening. She then called on Susie Skjoldal briefly before going home. Tim and JoAnne Seim called on Chet and Mandy Anderson and family one day this past week. Larry and Sarah Dreiske and family spent Saturday at the ranch with Nolan and Linda Seim and family. Nolan and Linda Seim and family attended the afternoon performance of the Shrine Circus in Lemmon Sunday afternoon. Monday, Dee Andrea Sandgren stopped to visit with her grandmother, Thelma Sandgren. Steve Sandgren and Mike Schmeltzer came out to the Sandgren ranch Tuesday and mowed the yard for Thelma and had supper with her. Thursday, Thelma Sandgren went to Lemmon, Leslie Sandgren took Thelma out to Chinese for supper and they then attended Natalies Bible School Program. Friday, Thelma Sandgren went to Hettinger. Gladys Merwin and Thelma were dinner guests of Steve Sandgren. Later, Thelma visited at the Nursing Home and took her sister, Gladys Vliem out for pie and coffee. Sunday, Thelma Sandgren visited with Alf and Betty Vliem and accompanied them to the Hymn sing at Reva. Sue Meink took Helen Meink to Lemmon Monday. Andi Gillespie of AZ is visiting the Meinks for the summer. Bridget and Korbin Keller traveled to Bison on Tuesday to license the Kellers "Ton of Fun" boat and pick up a riding lawn mower. When they returned home, Tim and Joanne Seim and Jo and Jacob Seim were brief visitors. Albert and Bridget and the boys took the boat out of a ride that evening and enjoyed the weather. Wednesday, Albert Keller returned back to work. Thursday, Luke and Trinity Harris were guests of Lil Albert and Korbin Keller. They were also dinner guests, and Duane and Dawn Harris joined as well. Doyle Udager was a brief morning visitor of Bridget. Friday, Emily Mauri was an afternoon and evening guest of Lil Albert Keller. Saturday, Dawn Harris and Bridget Keller and the boys traveled to Hettinger. Duane and Dawn Harris were dinner guests of Bridget and the boys. Bridget and the boys attended church services that evening. Sunday, Duane and Dawn Harris and Bridget Keller, Lil Albert and Korbin went for pizza and attended the circus in Lemmon. Lil Albert enjoyed his first elephant ride towards the end of it anyways!
