Part 1) Based on course readings and class discussions, describe 4 specific ways that chemistry of taste or fragrance has

impacted global history, cultures, or economies. Make sure you provide specific details to support your answer. The chemistry of taste has impacted global history greatly. The spice trade dominated Europe in the 14th century. Someone could make a fortune selling spices. Before this, Europe only had one spice that was used. Pepper was extremely expensive and extremely profitable to sell. Though it was used in Europe it was grown in India. Today it is grown in India, Brazil, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Europe learned about the spice through ancient spice trades. It was used at first as a medicine. Today pepper is used all over the world; it is the most common spice in the world. People traveled across the world to grow spices; Europe found the Americas during this. Through this Columbus found that pepper and chili peppers had the same taste effect. The chili pepper was introduced to Europe. Part 2) Refer to the syllabus for guidelines about the final project. Describe your best idea for a final presentaiton topic. Your description should include the title, the subtopics you would cover and the main ideas you would want to teach and any ideas about what format you'd would use ot present it). The title would be The Explosive Chemistry of Cretaceous Period. The main topic would be the formation of fossil fuels. I would also explain what the earth was like in Cretaceous Period. I would also talk about the creatures and plants that lived in this time. I would like to present it in a Prezi or PowerPoint. I would like to have several videos. Part 3) Using the criteria specified in the library session, find 2 reputable sources that you could use for research for your final presntation on the topic you described in part 2. Cite those sources and attach them as hyperlinks. Explain in detail how you know you can trust each of these sources as a reputable.
