CUSTOM SPRINGS
The quality, delivery and pricing of Centurys custom springs are well known throughout the industry. Our Custom Springs Department is available to assist you with a design for any application. Quotations are furnished promptly to your verbal or print specifications. Usually, a custom spring can be designed quickly by telephone with the aide of our advanced computer programs. We will then fax or mail to you quotes based on any quantities you are interested in... from one to millions. Lead-time to produce parts is usually two to four weeks from receipt of an order. A custom production spring can be made available in our on-shelf inventory for meeting your needs on either a scheduled or random shipping basis. When a quote for a custom spring is desired, please communicate to us the following: The spring type (i.e., compression) Any spring dimensions that you require The load (pounds) and deflection (inches moved) due to that loadORthe installed (working) length and how many pounds the spring must support at that point Hostile environments to which the spring will be subjected to (i.e., high temperature, shock loads dynamics, water, etc.) Quantities on which our quote should be based The Compression Springs, Extension Springs, and Materials Properties sections of this catalog contain design information that may be of value in defining your spring needs. Many wire forms and some flat stock springs are within our manufacturing capabilities. Please submit your print or sample for our determination. You may call or fax information to Century Springs Custom Spring Department to help define your needs or, if you desire, you may mail in a sample spring for duplication or for design modifications.

Spring Characteristics
Design Tolerances
CUSTOM SPRINGS 376
All tolerances will conform to the Spring Manufacturers Institute (SMI) commercial values unless specific tolerances are required. Specified tolerances should be generous enough to permit the fabrication of acceptable springs by ordinary production methods, or costs will increase. Tolerances should be applied to the necessary functional requirements and dimensions only. This gives the Century Spring Design Department the opportunity to make dimensional and possible material adjustments in order to meet the objectives of the spring application. Production designers should bear in mind that the standard drawing formats with tolerance boxes for machined dimensions are almost sure to be impractical for springs. They should be deleted and replaced with realistic tolerances driven by the springs requirements.
