Bible

Props: Find book covers to show the kids and letter B of the alphabet. You might use some other objects that begin with letter B to show.

Prayer: God, we thank you for your Word the Bible, That is our road map that we are to follow, We need your help in every way, To be more like you all of our days. Amen.

Snack: Teddy Bear Grahams . Allow them to dip in honey.

Art: Have the children make letter B and place bear stickers on the letter.

Music: (Tune: If Youre Happy and You Know It) Letter B, letter B, letter B (clap, clap) Letter B, letter B, letter B (clap, clap)

God gave us a book the B-I-B-L-E Letter B, letter B, letter B (clap, clap) Song: The B-I-B-L-E (this is an old familiar one)

Bible Memory Verse:

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 (NIV). Display the verse on a dry erase board for the kids to see as you teach the message. You will refer to this verse as you teach. Copy and send this verse home with the children. You can paste this verse on a Bible picture retrieved online. Allow them to write the verse in the bible picture and paste a red ribbon for the marker.

Message: Gods Word is the Holy Scriptures that shows us the way to heaven. It consists of 66 books. There are 27 books in the New Testament and 39 in the Old Testament. It was written many years ago, long before you, your parents, and grandparents were born. God used men whom he chose and inspired to write His Book. Bibles come in all sorts of colors and different versions. Notice the word lamp. There are many kinds of lamps. There are street lights, lanterns, reading lights, floor lamps, flashlights, hurricane lights, and night lights. There are also many different versions of the Bible. After the first Bible was written, others found a better way to translate it into other languages and text that make it easier for us to understand. Even though we have different lights and bibles they all do the same thing help us see, and lead us to God. Notice the word path. A path is a channel or direction that we take in order to get to our destination. Whether we go on a hike, a highway, a

passageway, a hallway, or an alley, we take a path to get there. Gods Words is a path for us to make it to heaven. It is a path that we follow to know how to be more like God. It is a path that helps us know more about God, and to understand how he wants us to live. The Bible is the most important book that we can have in our homes. It is better than TV, comics, radio, CDs or ANYTHING! We must use it or we will not know what is inside the covers of its pages. Dont allow dust to collect on your Bible use it every day!

GAMES 1. Have two kids at a time come to the front of the class. Give them a bean bag. Have them pass it back and forth to the other as they say one word of the verse at a time. If they drop the bean bag or say the wrong word they start all over at the beginning of the verse. Allow them only three mistakes and then have two new kids come up to try. 2. Draw a TIC TAC TOE game on a dry erase board. Play tic-tac-toe with the kids saying the verse. When they say it correctly (for the most) they draw an X. The next person will place an O.
