An investigation into the factors that causes pollution in the Community of Sign.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

What cause pollution in my Community, Sign. What are the effects that it has on the people in the community and what can be done to address this problem.

REASON FOR SELECTING THIS TOPIC

The reason I selected this topic because in the community of Sign, I have seen the effect pollution has on its members of the community , for an example it has an rapid breed for mosquitoes, therefore I wanted to run an investigation to see what causing these problem and how it can be solved.

METHOD OF INVESTIGATION
The investigation will be carried out by using questionnaires. The reasons for using questionnaires are; It is more convenient to the samplers. It takes less time to carry out. Its state the information clearly.

PROCEDURE FOR DATA COLLECTION

In order to collect information for the survey, I well be using questionnaires to collect the data. The questionnaires will contain 17 questions. Eleven of these will be opened and six will be closed ended. The questionnaires will be given to 20 person in the community of Sign. These person who are selected will be identify by asking one question one person to identify the others. The participant will be male and female in the age group of 16 to 40. As soon as I selected the participant I well give each of them a letter that explain the procedure and then agree on the time and the place of the meeting. I administer the question on a Sunday and this process well last for about a week, I am a student and weekend I well have more time. I well give the questionnaires to the samplers and let them record their answers. After this I will proceed to the collection of the data.

This was agree by 100% of the residents that pollution causes a variety of illness figure 2 indicated the kind of illness 40% of the resident suffer from rashes, 35%suffer from diarrhoea, 18% suffer vomiting and 7% death.

The majority of the resident 40% suggested that government should involve, 25% claimed that drain should be clean more regular, 25% suggest that members should implement more garbage bins and 10% thinks that members should plan cleaning technique throughout the community.

Figure 3 this is a bar chart showing the factors that contribute to pollution in sign. it is seen that pollution is mainly cause by the blockage of drain this is indicated by 45% of the participant, while 10% cause by sewage, 10% is cause by resident has no garbage bins and 35% of the resident has to dispose their garbage improper like in river and backyard.

Interpretations of data

There was agreement by the resident of the community of sign that pollution cause a number of illness on the member. This was indicated by 100% of the resident 40% of the resident suffer from rashes, while 35% suffer from diarrhoea, 18% suffer vomiting and 7% have died. I realized that 70% of the participants who participate in the survey were female while the other 30% of the participant were male.

Since in most case pollution is contribute by a lot of factors in the community of sign. It was assume that blockage of drain is the main factor that cause pollution especially when it rain this was suggest by 45% of the participant, 35% of the resident claimed that it was cause by the improper disposal of garbage, while 10% says its cause by sewage and also 10% cause by no garbage bins. Therefore I think s that all these factors coming together cause pollution in the community.

100% of the resident suggests that pollution can be solved but they dont have the equipment needed and money. It was suggested by the resident that there was a number things that could implemented to solve or reduce pollution. 35% of the responses suggest that the government should ensure garbage collectors come on a regular base. Resident claimed that if garbage bins were implemented pollution would have been reduce this was suggested by 15% of the respondents , while another 30% of the respondents suggest that drain should be clean more regular and 20% say member should plan a cleaning technique throughout the community. The age group of the participant who was mainly in the survey 18-25 it was indicated by 20% of the respondents , while 35%were 26-30, 25% were31-35 and 20% over 35 years old.

Finds
1. During the research according to the responses from the survey, the main causes of pollution in the community of Sign are the blockage of drains, sewage and improper garbage disposal and no garbage bins.

2. Pollution cause many different effects in the community including illnesses and flooding. These illnesses can be fatal to the health of the community of Sign these including diarrhoea, rashes and vomiting. Also pollution enhances the breeding of mosquito which causes malaria. 3. Pollution can be prevented but not stop working at it, therefore cooperation is required of the members of the community of Sign and the help of the government is need to slow down the build up of pollution therefore preventing the effects it has on the member of the community.

Recommendation

1. The researcher sees that pollution mainly affect the community when it rain. I would therefore like to suggest that government and resident that they should pay full attention to these factors, by hiring special worker. The respondent has revealed that blockage of drain was indicated by 45% of the respondents, while 10% by sewage, 10%no garbage bin and 35% dispose garbage improperly.

2. I would suggested to the solution is there should be on community clinic where member can get regular check up on themselves. A club should also be formed in order to cooperate with each other to reduce the effect that it has on the member and the factors that lead to pollution.

3. I would suggest to that government should ensure that garbage collectors com on a regular base to collect garbage. Resident should implement proper garbage disposal and bins. Resident should also come together and help to clean the community and resident should not put out garbage when the garbage collector isnt coming.
