FJELDHUS PRIMARY FOAM TENDER 6 X 6 FIRE FIGHTING VEHICLE BHS 660755 (Maintenance & Lubrication)
OBJECTIVE 1. To explain the maintenance and lubrication of the PFT-FJELDHUS fire vehicle.

REFERENCE 2. Fjeldhus Fire Fighting Vehicle Bhs 660755 Workshops Manual with Spare Parts List and PU 3055 Vol V Part 2. CONTENTS 3. Maintenance Instruction 100 Kg BCF (Halon 1211). The BCF 100 extinguisher is fully charged with BCF and leak tested at our works. Under normal circumstance the extinguisher should not required recharging until it has been operated. However the following procedure should be observed to ensure that the extinguisher remains fully operational. 4. Visual Check. The face of the pressure gauge is divided into three segments a large red segment indicating low pressure, a central green segment indicating the correct operation pressure, and a small red segment indicating high pressure. The gauge is readily visible and should be inspected regularly to ensure the correct pressure is being maintained. NOTE: The green segment represents a pressure range from 10 21 kgs/cm2. maximum gauge reading is 28 kgs/cm2. The

5. Low Pressure. A gauge reading on the low pressure section indicates a loss of either BCF or the nitrogen excellent. The extinguisher should be weighed and its current weight compared with the original full weight which will be found on the container label. If the weight varies from the original full weight by more than 5 percent, the extinguisher should be recharged with BCF. If the current weight is within 5 percent of the original full weight, the extinguisher should be recharged with nitrogen. 6. High Pressure. The extinguisher is fitted in our works at an ambient temperature of 17 - 21C. If it is then exposed to higher temperatures the pressure in the cylinder will increase and the gauge will indicate a higher pressure reading. The extinguisher will function satisfactorily at higher pressure but it must be remembered that the operation as these pressure will tend to make the applicator slightly more difficult to control. Extremes of temperature should be avoid e.g. in not climates the extinguisher should be kept in the shade. Where a high ambient temperature results in a constant high pressure reading, it may be advisable to reduce the charges pressure. 7. Weight Check. The extinguisher should be weighed every six months should the weight vary from the original full weight by more than 5 percent the extinguisher should be recharged as indicated above.

8. Applicator Check. Operate the applicator trigger periodically in ensure that the control valve opens and closes smoothly. The applicator should then be rotated in relation to the hose to ensure that the swivel joint assembly is operating satisfactorily. The quick release nozzle and assembly should also be removed to ensure that the coupling is operating satisfactorily, lubricate with grease to improve the operation. 9. Delivery Hose Check. The complete hose assembly should be inspected visually for any sign of damage, etc. It is very important that in its normally stored situation, the hose is completely vented and therefore the applicator control valve should always be left in the open position until the system is ready to be operated. If this procedure is always followed, any residue BCF remains within a seated hose assembly, there will be a gradual deterioration of the inner lining of the hose which will necessitate the need for more frequent replacement. 10. Lubrication. Grease nipples to lubricate: (a) Daily Control: (1) (2) Check chassis according to unipower Driver Manual.
