Michel G. Moffatt to run for vacated House of Delegates seat in District 22

Eleanor, WV July 15, 2013 With the current three term delegate Josh Stowers vacating the Delegate position that he was elected to serve, Michel Moffatt will officially launch his precandidacy campaign today at 6PM at the Putnam County Republican Tent at the Putnam County Fair. Michel will be available for questions and will begin reaching out to the people of Putnam County. The 2012 election results showed that a Republican can come within 2% of the vote. Michel received 24%, while Delegates Stowers and Eldridge received 31% and 26% of the vote, a feat no Republican has accomplished in this region according to the WVSOS website. CNBC just announced "America's Top States For Business 2013" - West Virginia is 48th and last in Business Friendliness. Michel is dedicated to pursuing a pro-jobs agenda that is key to turning around our State, something neither incumbent has been focused on so far. Michel is Pro-Life, a member of the newly relaunched, Putnam County Chapter of West Virginians for Life, and was very disappointed that the Lane Amendment to HB 2014 was rejected by the Democrat Majority including Delegates Stowers and Eldridge allowing the State to continue funding the aborting of unborn babies that can feel pain at 20 weeks or more. Michel is a Life Member of the NRA, and a proud member of the WV Citizens Defense League. Michel is against the efforts of our Democrat Senators to create gun registries, as we already have background checks for the law abiding citizens of the State, and he knows the pathway that other countries have used to restrict gun ownership. Michel is the President of the Putnam County Republican Club, an Associate member of the Putnam County Republican Executive Committee, President of the Ascension Church Parish and Family Life Group, a member of the Pastoral Council of Ascension Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Lincoln County Fair Board, a volunteer for the LEAD organization, a member of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, a member of Citizens for Coal, and is very active in other areas of the district. Michel is presently a stay at home father to Lindsay (5) and MJ (4), and husband to Amy Moffatt, 6AT Assistant Manager at TMMWV. Prior to this Michel spent 15 years in Manufacturing Management for small and large size manufacturers after graduating from Lehigh University as an Industrial Engineer. ###
