Candidate Interview Preparation: 1. Preparing for the interview a. Do research about the client i.

Internet (Company web site; news sites; search engines) ii. Take notes on information provider by your recruiter and account manager. Ask Questions??? b. Based on research you have done, prepare a list of thoughtful questions to ask in the interview. i. Questions should be focused on understanding the clients goals and challenges ii. Questions you should ask on the interview: 1. What exactly do you need from me in this position? 2. Based on what I have told you about myself, do you have any concerns at all about my ability to provide what you need? 3. When can I start? iii. Think of specific questions about the technical environment. 2. Interviewing a. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the interview. b. Dress to Impress (Full Business Suit!!) c. Beginning the interview: i. Properly greet the client and introduce yourself ii. Make eye contact iii. Try to make the interview conversational iv. Try to find ways to relate to your interviewer d. Ask client: What exactly do you need from me in this position? i. Listen patiently to what the client needsSeek first to understand, then to be understood ii. Restate what you have heard and seek agreement 1. Is this what you are saying? 2. So what you need is 3. What I heard isdid I understand you correctly? iii. Share how you think you can help the client based on what you learned about the clients needs. iv. Make sure the client understands what you are saying. v. Probe for understanding 1. am I making myself clear 2. Did I answer all of your questions 3. Would you like me to share more about my experience? vi. Stay Positive: (i.e. if you dont know something, respond honestly, but explain how your knowledge will help you to adapt quickly.) vii. Ask client: Based on what I have told you about myself, do you have any concerns about my ability to provide you with what you need? 1. If the concerns are not valid based on your skills help the client understand why the concerns are off base

2. If the concerns are valid, ask the client whether or not they feel you can overcome that concern and provide value in other ways. 3. Ask Is this a major concern or a minor concern? 4. After addressing concerns, ask if they still have concerns and can you do anything to help them feel better about the issue? 3. Closing the Interview At the end of the interview make sure you tell the client how you can benefit them by working on their team. List everything you can do for them and ask them for the job! a. Ask the closing questions: i. When can I start? ii. When can I expect to hear from you? iii. What is the next step? iv. Is there anything I can do from now until the time I start to help get me up to speed more quickly? b. Thank the client for their time
