Greetings Dear Friends.

While in Nassau last August, Bro. Redmon shared with us the past history of the Nicholl's Town Church of Christ. I thought you would like to see how God has worked in the past in this area.

1962 - Ed Spencer and James Redmon visited Nicholl's Town in a survey trip
to Andros Island on the mail boat.

1963 - Jim Redmon flew over to North Andros with a summer intern to check

the possiblitity of holding V.B.S. in North Andros. Ed Spencer returned with two young men to conduct the V.B.S. They stayed in an unfinished house of a lady in Nicholl's Town, Margorie Russell.

1966 - Hubert Prather and Ed Spencer started making regular trips to North Andros. Mr. Prather held services in Mastic Point and Ed Spencer began meeting in the Union Burial Society Hall of Nicholl's Town. Both men lived in a cabin in the "Fish Camp" out on the point.
1967 - The Cade family moved to Andros from California to work for an american firm in Nicholl's Town. As a former elder, A1 helped the Nicholl's Town church greatly. He and his wife assisted the Spencers secure an old trailer near the airport to live in on weekends.

1968 - The Spencers left for the states on furlough.

over to Nicholl's Town on weekends.

Mr. Prather was helping in

the Coconut Grove church in Nassau and took turns with Jim Redmon qoina

They had an old pickup truck for transportation. Property was purchased from Blanche Russell located in the main highway. It was 88 x 300 feet. An old wooden cabin from a farm was moved down to the lot. A ground breaking ceremony was held
in November.

1969 - With the help of the various members the property was cleared and the
building laid out and the holders moved to the site. In June Mr.^Redmon

took four men from the Grove Church in Nassau and poured half of the
foundation. In August the Spencers returned from the states, Mr. Redmon and Mr. Fraley went over to help Ed Spencer construct a house on the property (Mission house).

1970 - 1975 - Mission House and Church building completed.

1976 - The Spencer family left Andros to return to Missouri.

1976 - 1986 - The Redmons have continued to visit every month. They hold
V.B.S. every year.

The days are passing quickly for our return to Andros Island.

We are

still in the need of several items. First and foremost we need your prayers. Secondly, we are still about $800. short of our monthly support. Thirdlywhen we arrive on Andros Island we will need extra funds to do physical repair to the mission house. These funds will be for wood, nails, shingles, and cement blocks. If you would like to help contribute to these specific items please designate your gifts to "remodeling fund".
Town.
There are many problems we will be addressing when we arrive in Nicholl's One of these problems was recently addressed in the "Nassau Guardian", Friday, February 7, 1986 edition. It is entitled;
"Our Men Are Copping Out"

"In the recent address to the president of Junior Achievement in Andros. It was noted that more women are entering the pro fessions and the areas of employment which were once predominantly male are changing rapidly. No longer can it be said that the man is the bread winner because in many instances the women are better paid than their mates. It has become necessary for the Bahamian
woman to assume control of households because some Bahamian

men are not taking care of their families. They (men) use their money to keep sweethearts, or to gamble, or have a good time. The children are left with little or nothing. It is necessary for women to assume the leadership role because of the mens lack of responsibility."

Please pray for us as we take God's Word to these people who are dying without Jesus Christ. May God grant us the power to stand strong for Him.
We will be speaking in churches on behalf of the mission in Nicholl's Town on the following dates.
April 20 -- Vanceburg, Kentucky April 27 Mt. Olivet, Kentucky May 3 Jonesboro, Tennesse June -- Fork, Maryland

May God bless each of you for your prayers and support.

Greetings in the name of our blessed Lord and Savior!

May 15, 1986

Does

God answer prayers? Yes! We have been praying about our isolation from medical attention on Andros Island, God has answered our prayers! Wayne Clark, Minister of the First Christian Church of Mt. Olivet, Kentucky is also a E.M.T. He has graciously agreed to help us set up an Emergency Medical case with various items to use in emergency situations. The Apostle Paul says, "If God be for us who can be against us!" If God can answer this prayer we are certain and confident all of our prayers and yours are being answered!
Here is a list of our up coming dates.
May 25 - Kenton Station Chvrch of Christ - Maysville, Kentucky June 1 - Fork Christian Church - Jarrettsville, Maryland
June June July July July 3-13 - New Lisbon Christian Church - New Lisbon, Indiana 23-25 - First Christian Church - Mt. Olivet, Kentucky 6-10 - North American Christian Conv. - Indianapolis, Indiana 21-25 - Capital Area Christian Church - Harrisburg, PA 27-Aug 1 - Indian Lake Christian Camp - Bel Air, Maryland

We are still in need of $800 - $900 monthly support.

We are

grateful to all of you who support our endeavors. As I look over our mailing list, we have approximately 155 newsletters going out each month. If 100 of these families, individuals who receive our mailing would either increase their support or begin supporting Mullikin Bahama Mission with $10.00 a month we would be able to move next month and begin preaching to the Bahamian people. I hope all of you will prayerfully consider this plea as we all strive to be and do what God expects of us.

Please keep us in your prayers as we pray for you.

In Christ Love

Dewey Mullikin

From Columbus to Coloney to Commonwealth, the history of the Bahamas has been nothing less than colorful, exciting and
glamorous.

The country's first "Sonnist" was Christopher Columbus whose three caravels dropped anchor in 1492 in the translucent waters of what is now Discovery Bay, San Salvador Island. Astonished

"Lucayans" peered from their huts at the white strangers on what

was to become "Bahama" shores.

Columbus re-named the lukku-cairi or island people "indians". The Great Navigator thought he had landed near the rich fabled
Indians.

Several centuries have passed and Bahamian history continues. There is another who is desperately concerned about the Bahamian people all 280,000 of them. Jesus Christ "The Great Physician",
healer and master of the Universe. His interest is different

than that of Christopher Columbus.

Columbus came to the

Bahamas in search of Gold, and riches for himself and his queen. Jesus, the Great Physician comes to the Bahamas not to receive, but rather to give riches and life abundant.
There are approximately 280,000 people living in the Bahamas. In many of our past newsletters we have tried to share many of the problems facing the Bahamian people, drugs, disintegration of the family, teenage suicide, teenage promiscuity, murder, prostitution, theft. These sinsick people need Jesusi Please join with us in prayer that our God will continue to open the doors for us as we plan to arrive in Nicholls Town, Andros, Bahamas this August. Our immigration papers have been filed with the Bahamian Government. Now we must wait, pray, and pack! June and July are going to be very busy months for the Mullikin family. We are presently preparing for VBS in New Lisbon, Indiana, The North American Christian Convention, Indianopolis, Ind., VBS Mt. Olivet, Kentucky, VBS in Harrisburg, PA.
Thank you for your support and prayers as we strive to take the gospel to a dying nation, the Bahamas.

Greetings and Merry Christmas,

Dewey, Debbie, and the kids are finally on their way to Nicholstown, Andros Island. The hurdles that Satan has placed in front of these two people have been overcome. The Gospel of Jesus Christ will soon be preached again at the
Nicholstown Church of Christ. Praise Godll

Because of their journey and all the other details involved, Jan and I volunteered to write the monthly newsletter for December. We welcome this opportunity for it gives us a chance to tell you some things about the Mullikins you may not know. It gives us the opportunity to tell of our short visit to Andros to see the work ahead of Dewey and Debbie and learn first hand of some of the hardships they will face. We all recognize the fact that missionaries place themselves in situations where hardships will abound. We as Americans have become accustomed to the "easy life". God has provided for us abundantly. Life is not so easy on the foreign missions field. Life styles are different, customs are different, and for an American there is a period of adjustment. And this is where the uniqueness of the Mullikins comes
in to focus.

As we visited Andros, Jan and I saw the poverty, the misguided and lost, the

broken dreams, the drugs, and the general lackadaisical attitude of the society. For us, at least, it was the kind of place you would not want to live. Dewey and Debbie know what the society is like, they are aware of the drugs, but they were driven by something above and beyond that Matt 27: 18-20!! And this is where Dewey and Debbie separate from the rest of us. The dedication of the Lord's service and the desire to carry on with what Jesus started can be no stronger in two people. Jan and I have known the Mullikins for only a few short years but in that time we have felt their compassion and love for people. They have the kind of compassion for lost souls that drove them to leave family and friends in the USA at a time and season when we crave to be together Christmas. Their desire to carry the gospel of Jesus
Christ to those who have not heard is their first priority. When we were at

Nicholstown, Dewey promised the people in the church he would be back in 2-3 weeks. The Mullikins are people of commitment. We could all take a lesson on
our Christian commitment from them.

Dewey and Debbie will need not only our prayers but our financial support and personal encouragement. We ask you to pray especially for young Aaron and Amber as they endeavor to adapt to a new culture and that God will protect them. Pray for Debbie as she tries to establish a new home for her family and meets the challenges of everyday. And pray for Dewey that God will continue
to instill in him the kind of dedication and wisdom needed to turn a people

back to Christ. And pray for the Nicholstown church as it struggles to recover from a period of idleness and that men like elder "Uncle Joe" will help Dewey lead the congregation into a newness of life.
The Mullikins have many needs as they settle in Nicholstown. The mission house needs to have the plumbing completely redone. The pipes have all corroded. They need a hot water heater, freezer and Debbie desparately needs a washing
machine. We have established a contact in Florida from the local Christian

Church who will help procure and ship needed items to the Mullikins. If you will open your hearts to these needs it would greatly be appreciated. Dewey felt God's calling to go to Nicholstown was so strong at this time that they decided to leave without having reached their target for monthly financial
support. We need, now more than ever, to show our support.
With the Mullikins on the mission field all financial support needs to channel

through the Forwarding Agent (Jan). Mail and personal contact should be channeled through Brother Jim Redmon in Nassau. Both addresses are provided
below.. As we enter this Christmas season, the Mullikins asked that we extend to all their friends and loved ones a Merry Christmas and warmest wishes for God's blessings upon all.

Merry Christmas Dewey, Debbie, Aaron and Amber.

May God Bless you

In Christ,

Greetings fronj- Nicoll*s Town, Andros, Bahamas! We are so happy to be writing from the mission house. We arrived in Nassau on Thanksgiving Day and ate dinner with Jim and Sarah Redmon, miss
ionaries to the Golden Gates Church of Christ, and Jiip's parents. We shopped for groceries and bought one-way plane tickets for Andros. We arrived in

Nicoll's Town on Friday afternoon, Nov.28, with sixteen pieces of luggage.

We had previously delivered our other belongings to the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

on Nov. 25 and 26 to be shipped on the Del-Mar Ellie on Dec. 3* Rough seas

have delayed her arrival to date. There were thirty-two in attendance on* Sunday for worship. We are now

meeting for Sunday School(2l), worship (32), Sunday evening service (^2), Monday night Bible for Ladies (8), and Wednesday night Bible Study (2^).
Aaron and Amber started school at Nicoll's Town Primary on Monday, Dec. Ist. They walk to school, wear uniforms and are doing veil. They already have many friends who come to play.ball every evening. They even have a kitten. Life in Nicoll*s Town is much simpler in that there are no big malls only

small shops, no buses, trains, traffic lights, fire engines or aimbulances, no hospitals only a small clinic, one bank-^ppen one day a week from 11a.m.-2p.m. We spend a large portion of each day tending to the ordinary neccesities: like

washing clothes and linens in a tub with a v/ashboard, cutting grass with a machete and then again with a mower, making our own bread, cooking on a harrow ed hot plate and over an open fire because our bottled gas ran out and it takes five days to bring a new tank over on the mail boat from Nassau, walking every where to market, to school, to church, to the post office, to the phone booth,
to the homes of the church members and to the ocean. The difficult times serve

a purpose in that they remind us how fragile life is and how we must depend upon God for our every need. He is such a good God!
We are thankful for the many times he has blessed us in these two short

weeks; safe travel pulling a trailer from Sardis, Ky. to West Palm Beach, Fla. and then on to Nassau and Andros (1930 miles); our friends and families who

helped us along this journey, good health, the opportunity to trade our car for a freezer, washer and hotwater heater, a renewed spirit among the Christians hel^e
and the openness of prospective converts, our children's adjustinent to school and life here, a supportive wife who is tolerant and patient when things go v/rong, good attendance and a'tt'entive hearts, th^'love and concern of^C^huroh membeTs who send supplies and stop by, for our forv/arding agent's hard work and devotion to the mission work, for all of the individuals, mission committees and supporting
churchs who faithfully aid u. financially and pray for our safty and effective
ness*

Please continue to pray thi ^ the Eoly Spirit will lead us we pray this

prayer for you. Please pray for our neighbors who have so few of the physical
comforts we take for granted, for a tv/elve year old boy who seems so angry,

for a young lineman who has expressed an interest in baptism and for the growth
of leadership in the church*

May God richly bless each of you during this holiday season We pray that your Christmas was ablessed event and that the New Year will be likewise*

"... there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God bvor one sinner who repents." Luke 15:8 Praise God from whom all blessings flowl I believe that would be an appropriate statement of what has been happening in the Nicoll*s Town
Church of Christ. Since our last writing we have had three young men

baptized, one mother who has cone forward to confess Jesus as Lord and is studying baptism, and another young mother who asked 4'ofT:specia3:^'?'dy0rs for the rearing of her yoting daughter. There is a spirit of joy and will
ingness among the small group of believers here at Nicoll*s Town. We are beginning to see "a mustard seed faith" growing in the congregation. The Lord has also granted me the priviledge of teaching the young people of the

North Andros High School on their Thur^day^lunch hour. Please pray the Holy Spirit will use this opportimity to reveal to these eager young people Jesus Christl. Our Tuesday Afternoon youth meeting is growing. We are now

having 30-35 young people coming every Tuesday after school for singing, teaching, and Bible games, T)eb*s Ladies* Bible Study on Monday evenings
is growing in Spirit with one another and with the Lord.
We now have the washer and water heater in place. We are very thank

ful for both appliances. It makes life easier for all of us. We still have no transportation but God has given us healthy legs to walk to the nearest
store;for this we are thankful. We are planting a small garden. To protect

the plants from the insects, snails, crabs, pigs, and horses I needed to go to a hardware store..I thought of renting a taxi but decided to rent a

bicycle instead I was not aware that it would be approocimtely a 3^ mile

round trip. It grew into a hot afternoon. On ny trip out to the store I was
warned by a pedestrian to not go to Lowe Sound, a settlement five miles from Nicoll's Town, since I am an unknown white man,,alone on a bicycle. I took his advise. I went on to San Andros."After making ny purchases I started pedaling back home and then realized to ny dismay that ny bag of insecticide had a lar^e hole in it. So I rode down the main road in a cloud of white dust. As, I passed the high school the teenage boys made a game

out of trying to icnock me off seat. I finally arrived home all in one piece, exhausted and covered in dust. The garden is faring better now but
the next time I ' l l use a taxi.

Please remember in prayer our families back home,fc^* the spintual growth of the new Christians, for the new contacts we make each day,and for wisdom in all we say and do. Thank you for your faithful support. Our goals for the monthly finances have been met these past two months and we praise the Lord for His blessings. We appreciate the supporting churches and each individual who gives to this work. You all make a big difference no matter the size gift you give. It all adds up and thank you againI
The Nicoll's Town Christians have started a Bible fund to buy Bifeles

for those who do not have one. We thank the t6rd that they have the desire

to meet this need themselves with His guidance.

Sincerely,

Even before that everything would be alright and a determined set of our chins Dewey and I managed to get Aaron and Amber into the schoolyard. Our hearts went out to hundred children played in the sandy yard that borders Swamp Street, ^ey greeted us with stares of curiosity and a few shy smiles. Since that time we have ^d to relocate both of them into grade levels that better suited their levels of achievement. That first day was a frightening one for our cMldren but by ^e end of the week they had made many new friends and felt confident ttiey would be accepted. Reading is not a top priority with the Bahamian jiopulation as a gener^ rule and this is reflected in the school system. High absenteeism intensifies this problem.
