This course is designed to equip the student with the necessary theories, principles, and techniques for effective communication for various situations. Furthermore, it is in designed to develop the students potential that will enable them to understand and evaluate messages in dynamic speech situation. VII. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

A. GENERAL 1. Gain conceptual understanding of the nature, theories and skills innate in the speech communication in order to transmit thought and ideas thereby realizing a gratifying and rewarding experience in the use of English Language. 2. Provide the basic knowledge and skills in English oral communication that will enable the student understand ad evaluate message in the dynamic speech interaction. 3. Integrate Filipino values in a speech process and apply them in a real life situation. B. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: 4. Enter the relevance of the institution's philosophy, vision, and mission, goals and objectives of the college its hymn and brief history. 5. Discuss the nature of communication process according to difference, essence, and function. 6. Find out the essence of listening according to pro. 7. Trace the nature of language as symbol system using the verbal and non-verbal system of communication. 8. Illustrate the intrapersonal and interpersonal communication based on communication stimuli, models, forms, and principles.

9. Learn the techniques in public discourse by following the principles of writing and ultimately deliver a speech. 10. Showcase form of speech arts sand interpret selected literary pieces. X.
