Preface:
ABRAHAM: Abraham is GOD’S chosen, and he is alright with US in Heaven. This first work is
a compilation of his life from GOD’S HOLY BIBLE…
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye Children of Jacob his chosen. HE is the LORD our GOD:
HIS judgments are in all the earth. HE hath remembered HIS covenant forever, the word which
HE commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant HE made with Abraham and HIS
oath unto Isaac; and confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting
covenant. (Psalm 105:6-10)
Greetings! Thus shalt thou say unto the Children of Israel, THE LORD GOD of your fathers, the
GOD of Abraham, the GOD of Isaac, and the GOD of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: This is MY
name for ever, and this is MY memorial unto all generations. (GOD, Exodus 3:15)
Adam, Seth, Enosh, Cainan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah, Shem, Ham,
and Japheth. The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and
Tiras. The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Diphath, and Togarmah. The sons of Javan were
Elishah, Tarshishah, Kittim, and Rodanim. The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and
Canaan. The sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raama, and Sabtecha. The sons of Raama
were Sheba and Dedan. Cush begot Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one on the earth. Mizraim
begot Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, Pathrusim, Casluhim (from whom came the
Philistines and the Caphtorim). Canaan begot Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth; the Jebusite, the
Amorite, and the Girgashite; the Hivite, the Arkite, and the Sinite; the Arvadite, the Zemarite,
and the Hamathite. The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, Aram, Uz, Hul,
Gether, and Meshech. Arphaxad begot Shelah, and Shelah begot Eber. To Eber were born two
sons: The name of one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name
was Joktan. Joktan begot Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Ebal,
Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan. Shem, Arphaxad,
Shelah, Eber, Peleg, Reu, Serug, Nahor, Terah, and Abram, who is ABRAHAM. (1 Chronicles
1:1-27)
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and
from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation,
and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless
them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: And in thee shall all families of the earth be
blessed. So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: And
Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. And Abram took Sarai his
wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that
they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of
Canaan they came. And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain
of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and
said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: And there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who
appeared unto him. And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and
pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: And there he builded an altar
unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD. And Abram journeyed, going on still
toward the south. And there was a famine in the land: And Abram went down into Egypt to
sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land. And it came to pass, when he was come
near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair
woman to look upon: Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that
they shall say, This is his wife: And they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. Say, I pray
thee, thou art my sister: That it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because
of thee. And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the
woman that she was very fair. The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before
Pharaoh: And the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. And he entreated Abram well for her
sake: And he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she
asses, and camels. And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of
Sarai Abram's wife. And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is this that thou hast done unto
me? Why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? Why saidst thou, She is my sister? So I
might have taken her to me to wife: Now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: And they sent him away, and his wife, and
all that he had. (Genesis 12)
And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into
the south. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. And he went on his journeys
from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between
Bethel and Hai; unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: And there
Abram called on the name of the LORD. And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and
herds, and tents. And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: For their
substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. And there was a strife between the
herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: And the Canaanite and the Perizzite
dwelled then in the land. And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between
me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole
land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: If thou wilt take the left hand, then I
will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. And Lot lifted up
his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere, before the
LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt,
as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east:
And they separated themselves the one from the other. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and
Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. But the men of Sodom
were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. And the LORD said unto Abram, after
that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art
northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee
will I give it, and to thy seed forever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: So that if
a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. Arise, walk
through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. Then
Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and
built there an altar unto the LORD. (Genesis 13)
After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram:
I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. And Abram said, LORD GOD, what wilt
THOU give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
And Abram said, Behold, to me THOU hast given no seed: And, lo, one born in my house is
mine heir. And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine
heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And HE brought
him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward Heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to
number them: And HE said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and
HE counted it to him for righteousness. And HE said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee
out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. And he said, LORD GOD, Whereby
shall I know that I shall inherit it? And HE said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old,
and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young
pigeon. And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one
against another: But the birds divided he not. And when the fowls came down upon the
carcasses, Abram drove them away. And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon
Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. And HE said unto Abram, Know of a
surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they
shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge:
And afterward shall they come out with great substance. And thou shalt go to thy fathers in
peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall come hither
again: For the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. And it came to pass, that, when the sun
went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between
those pieces. In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed
have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates…
(Genesis 15)
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto
him, I am THE ALMIGHTY GOD; walk before ME, and be thou perfect. And I will make MY
covenant between ME and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face:
And GOD talked with him, saying, As for ME, behold, MY covenant is with thee, and thou shalt
be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name
shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee
exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will
establish MY covenant between ME and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an
everlasting covenant, to be a GOD unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto
thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an
everlasting possession; and I will be their GOD. And GOD said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep
MY covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. This is MY covenant,
which ye shall keep, between ME and you and thy seed after thee; every man child among you
shall be circumcised. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token
of the covenant betwixt ME and you. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among
you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of
any stranger, which is not of thy seed. He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy
money, must needs be circumcised: And MY covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting
covenant. And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that
soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant. And GOD said unto
Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: Yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a
mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed,
and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? And shall
Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? And Abraham said unto GOD, O that Ishmael might live
before thee! And GOD said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his
name Isaac: And I will establish MY covenant with him for an everlasting covenant and with his
seed after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make
him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make
him a great nation. But MY covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee
at this set time in the next year. And he left off talking with HIM, and GOD went up from
Abraham. And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that
were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised
the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as GOD had said unto him. And Abraham was
ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. And Ishmael his
son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. In the selfsame
day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son. And all the men of his house, born in the
house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him. (Genesis 17)
And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: And he sat in the tent door in the heat
of the day; and he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: And when he saw
them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, And said,
MY LORD, if now I have found favour in THY sight, pass not away, I pray THEE, from THY
servant: Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under
the tree: And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass
on: For therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. And
Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine
meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a
calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. And he took butter,
and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under
the tree, and they did eat. And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold,
in the tent. And HE said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo,
Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. Now
Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the
manner of women. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I
have pleasure, MY LORD being old also? And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did
Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is anything too hard for the
LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah
shall have a son. Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And HE said,
Nay; but thou didst laugh. And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: And
Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. And the LORD said, Shall I hide from
Abraham that thing which I do; seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty
nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will
command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to
do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of
him. And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their
sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to
the cry of it, which is come unto ME; and if not, I will know. And the men turned their faces
from thence, and went toward Sodom: But Abraham stood yet before the LORD. And Abraham
drew near, and said, Wilt THOU also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there
be fifty righteous within the city: Wilt THOU also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty
righteous that are therein? That be far from THEE to do after this manner, to slay the righteous
with the wicked: And that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from THEE: Shall
not the JUDGE of all the earth do right? And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous
within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. And Abraham answered and said,
Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD, which am but dust and ashes:
Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: Wilt THOU destroy all the city for lack
of five? And HE said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. And he spake unto HIM
yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And HE said, I will not do it
for forty's sake. And he said unto him, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak:
Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And HE said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.
And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD: Peradventure there
shall be twenty found there. And HE said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. And he said, Oh
let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found
there. And HE said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. And the LORD went HIS way, as soon as
HE had left communing with Abraham: And Abraham returned unto his place. (Genesis 18)
And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh
and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: And
Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. But GOD came to Abimelech in a dream by
night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken;
for she is a man's wife. But Abimelech had not come near her: And he said, LORD, wilt THOU
slay also a righteous nation? Said he not unto me, She is my sister? And she, even she herself
said, He is my brother: In the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
And GOD said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart;
for I also withheld thee from sinning against ME: Therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. Now
therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt
live: And if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these
things in their ears: And the men were sore afraid. Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said
unto him, What hast thou done unto us? And what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought
on me and on my kingdom a great sin? Thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? And
Abraham said, Because I thought, surely the fear of GOD is not in this place; and they will slay
me for my wife's sake. And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not
the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. And it came to pass, when GOD caused me
to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt
shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, he is my brother. And
Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto
Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee:
Dwell where it pleaseth thee. And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy [wife] a thousand
pieces of silver: Behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with
all other: Thus she was reproved. So Abraham prayed unto GOD: And GOD healed Abimelech,
and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. For the LORD had fast closed up all
the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife. (Genesis 20)
And the LORD visited Sarah as HE had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as HE had spoken.
For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which GOD had
spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah
bare to him, Isaac. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as GOD had
commanded him. And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto
him. And Sarah said, GOD hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. And
she said, who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? For I
have born him a son in his old age. And the child grew, and was weaned: And Abraham made a
great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned. (Genesis 21:1-8)
And it came to pass after these things, that GOD did tempt Abraham, and said unto him,
Abraham: And he said, Behold, here I am. And HE said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac,
whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering
upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning,
and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the
wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which GOD had told him.
Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said
unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship,
and come again to you. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac
his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together. And
Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: And he said, Here am I, my son. And
he said, Behold the fire and the wood: But where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham
said, My son, GOD will provide HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering: So they went both of
them together. And they came to the place which GOD had told him of; and Abraham built an
altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon
the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the
angel of the LORD called unto him out of Heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: And he said,
Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him: For
now I know that thou fearest GOD, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from
me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a
thicket by his horns: And Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt
offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place JehovahJireh: As it is
said to this day, in the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. And the angel of the LORD called
unto Abraham out of Heaven the second time, and said, By MYSELF have I sworn, saith the
LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That
in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the
Heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his
enemies; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed
my voice. (Genesis 22:1-18)
And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: These were the years of the life of
Sarah. And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: And Abraham
came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her. And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and
spake unto the sons of Heth, saying, I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: Give me a
possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight. And the
children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him, Hear us, my lord: Thou art a mighty
prince among us: In the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from
thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead. And Abraham stood up, and bowed
himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth. And he communed with them,
saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me
to Ephron the son of Zohar, That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which
is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of
a buryingplace amongst you. And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: And Ephron the
Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the
gate of his city, saying, Nay, my lord, hear me: The field give I thee, and the cave that is therein,
I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: Bury thy dead. And
Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land. And he spake unto Ephron in the
audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will
give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there. And Ephron answered
Abraham, saying unto him, My lord, hearken unto me: The land is worth four hundred shekels of
silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? Bury therefore thy dead. And Abraham hearkened unto
Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the
sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant. And the field of
Ephron which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was
therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were
made sure unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that
went in at the gate of his city. And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the
field of Machpelah before Mamre: The same is Hebron in the land of Canaan. And the field, and
the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the
sons of Heth. (Genesis 23)
THE DEATH OF ABRAHAM
And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: And the LORD had blessed Abraham in all
things. And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had,
Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh: And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the GOD of
Heaven, and the GOD of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of
the Canaanites, among whom I dwell: But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and
take a wife unto my son Isaac. And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not
be willing to follow me unto this land: Must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from
whence thou camest? And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son
thither again. THE LORD GOD OF HEAVEN, which took me from my father's house, and from
the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed
will I give this land; HE shall send HIS angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son
from thence. And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from
this my oath: Only bring not my son thither again. And the servant put his hand under the thigh
of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter. And the servant took ten
camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand:
And he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor. And he made his camels to
kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that
women go out to draw water. And he said, O LORD GOD of my master Abraham, I pray thee,
send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham. Behold, I stand here
by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: And let it
come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may
drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: Let the same be she that
thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed
kindness unto my master. And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold,
Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's
brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin,
neither had any man known her: And she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came
up. And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy
pitcher. And she said, Drink, my lord: And she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand,
and gave him drink. And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy
camels also, until they have done drinking. And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the
trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels. And the man
wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or
not. And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of
half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; and said,
Whose daughter art thou? Tell me, I pray thee: Is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge
in? And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto
Nahor. She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to
lodge in. And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD. And he said, Blessed
be THE LORD GOD of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of HIS
mercy and HIS truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.
And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things. And Rebekah had a
brother, and his name was Laban: And Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well. And it came to
pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words
of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and,
behold, he stood by the camels at the well. And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD;
wherefore standest thou without? For I have prepared the house, and room for the camels. And
the man came into the house: And he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the
camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him. And there was set meat
before him to eat: But he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak
on. And he said, I am Abraham's servant. And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he
is become great: And he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants,
and maidservants, and camels, and asses. And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master
when she was old: And unto him hath he given all that he hath. And my master made me swear,
saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I
dwell: But thou shalt go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son.
And I said unto my master, Peradventure the woman will not follow me. And he said unto me,
The LORD, before whom I walk, will send HIS angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou
shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house: Then shalt thou be clear
from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be
clear from my oath. And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD GOD of my master
Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go: Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it
shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I
pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink; and she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also
draw for thy camels: Let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my
master's son. And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with
her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: And I said unto
her, Let me drink, I pray thee. And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder,
and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: So I drank, and she made the camels drink
also. And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, the daughter of Bethuel,
Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: And I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets
upon her hands. And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed THE
LORD GOD of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's
brother's daughter unto his son. And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me:
And if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left. Then Laban and Bethuel
answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: We cannot speak unto thee bad or
good. Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as
the LORD hath spoken. And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he
worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth. And the servant brought forth jewels of
silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: He gave also to her brother
and to her mother precious things. And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with
him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my
master. And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least
ten; after that she shall go. And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD hath
prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master. And they said, We will call the
damsel, and enquire at her mouth. And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with
this man? And she said, I will go. And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and
Abraham's servant, and his men. And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our
sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those
which hate them. And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and
followed the man: And the servant took Rebekah, and went his way. And Isaac came from the
way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country. And Isaac went out to meditate in the
field at the eventide: And he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.
And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel. For she had
said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had
said, It is my master: Therefore she took a vail, and covered herself. And the servant told Isaac
all things that he had done. And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took
Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: And Isaac was comforted after his mother's
death. (Genesis 24)
And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and
fifteen years. Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full
of years; and was gathered to his people. And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave
of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre; The
field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: There was Abraham buried, and Sarah his
wife. And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that GOD blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac
dwelt by the well Lahairoi. (Genesis 25:7-11)
And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not
take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy
mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.
And GOD ALMIGHTY bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest
be a multitude of people; and give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with
thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which GOD gave unto
Abraham. And Isaac sent away Jacob: And he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the
Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother. When Esau saw that Isaac had
blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he
blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
and that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram; and Esau seeing
that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father; then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took
unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of
Nebajoth, to be his wife. And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. And he
lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of
the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. And he
dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to Heaven: And
behold the angels of GOD ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the LORD stood above
it, and said, I am THE LORD GOD of Abraham thy father, and THE GOD of Isaac: The land
whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; and thy seed shall be as the dust of the
earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south:
And in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. And, behold, I am with
thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land;
for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of. And Jacob awaked
out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. And he was
afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! This is none other but THE HOUSE OF GOD, and
this is the gate of Heaven. And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had
put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. And he called the
name of that place Bethel: But the name of that city was called Luz at the first. And Jacob vowed
a vow, saying, If GOD will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me
bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall
the LORD be my GOD: And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be GOD’S house: And
of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee. (Genesis 28)
And GOD appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him. And
GOD said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: Thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel
shall be thy name: And he called his name Israel. And GOD said unto him, I am GOD
ALMIGHTY: Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and
kings shall come out of thy loins; and the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will
give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land. And GOD went up from him in the place
where HE talked with him. And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with HIM,
even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon. And
Jacob called the name of the place where GOD spake with him, Bethel. And they journeyed from
Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: And Rachel travailed, and she had
hard labour. And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her,
Fear not; thou shalt have this son also. And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she
died) that she called his name Benoni: But his father called him Benjamin. And Rachel died, and
was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem. And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave:
That is the pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day. And the days of Isaac were an hundred and
fourscore years. And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being
old and full of days: And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him. (Genesis 35:9-20, 28-35)
ABRAHAM’S GRANDSON, JACOB’S DEATH
And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan. These are
the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his
brethren…Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old
age: And he made him a coat of many colours. And when his brethren saw that their father loved
him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. And
Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: And they hated him yet the more. And he
said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: For, behold, we were
binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your
sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. And his brethren said to him, Shalt
thou indeed reign over us? Or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet
the more for his dreams, and for his words. And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his
brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and
the eleven stars made obeisance to me. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: And his
father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and
thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? And his
brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying. And his brethren went to feed their
father's flock in Shechem. And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in
Shechem? Come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I. And he said to
him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring
me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem. And a
certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: And the man asked him,
saying, What seekest thou? And he said, I seek my brethren: Tell me, I pray thee, where they
feed their flocks. And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to
Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan. And when they saw him
afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. And they
said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and
cast him into some pit, and we will say, some evil beast hath devoured him: And we shall see
what will become of his dreams. And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands;
and said, Let us not kill him. And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this
pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands,
to deliver him to his father again. And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren,
that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him; And they took
him, and cast him into a pit: And the pit was empty, there was no water in it. And they sat down
to eat bread: And they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites
came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down
to Egypt. And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal
his blood? Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he
is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content. Then there passed by Midianites
merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the
Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: And they brought Joseph into Egypt. And Reuben
returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes. And he
returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go? And they took
Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood; And they sent the
coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: Know
now whether it be thy son's coat or no. And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast
hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces. And Jacob rent his clothes, and put
sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days. And all his sons and all his
daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go
down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him. And the Midianites
sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard. (Genesis
37)
In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan,
which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife…
The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth. And when
Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded
up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people. (Genesis 49:30-33)
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD GOD
of the Hebrews, Let MY people go, that they may serve ME. For if thou refuse to let them go,
and wilt hold them still, Behold, the hand of the LORD is upon thy cattle which is in the field,
upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: There shall
be a very grievous murrain. And the LORD shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle
of Egypt: And there shall nothing die of all that is the Children's of Israel. And the LORD
appointed a set time, saying, Tomorrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land. And the LORD
did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: But of the cattle of the Children of
Israel died not one. And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the
Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go. And the
LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let
Moses sprinkle it toward the Heaven in the sight of Pharaoh. And it shall become small dust in
all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast,
throughout all the land of Egypt. And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh;
and Moses sprinkled it up toward Heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon
man, and upon beast. And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for
the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians. And the LORD hardened the heart
of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken unto Moses. And the
LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto
him, Thus saith THE LORD GOD of the Hebrews, Let MY people go, that they may serve ME.
For I will at this time send all MY plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy
people; that thou mayest know that there is none like ME in all the earth. For now I will stretch
out MY hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off
from the earth. And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee MY
power; and that MY name may be declared throughout all the earth. As yet exaltest thou thyself
against MY people, that thou wilt not let them go? Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause
it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even
until now. Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon
every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail
shall come down upon them, and they shall die. He that feared the word of the LORD among the
servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses: And he that regarded
not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field. And the LORD said unto
Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward Heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt,
upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt. And
Moses stretched forth his rod toward Heaven: And the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire
ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. So there was hail,
and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of
Egypt since it became a nation. And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was
in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree
of the field. Only in the land of Goshen, where the Children of Israel were, was there no hail.
And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time:
the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that
there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.
And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands
unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou
mayest know how that the earth is the LORD’S. But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye
will not yet fear THE LORD GOD. And the flax and the barley was smitten: For the barley was
in the ear, and the flax was bolled. But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: For they were not
grown up. And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the
LORD: And the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth. And when
Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and
hardened his heart, he and his servants. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he
let the Children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses. (Exodus 9)
And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: And I will
write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest. And be ready
in the morning, and come up in the morning unto Mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in
the top of the mount. And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen
throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount. And he hewed
two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto
Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.
And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of
the LORD. And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, THE LORD
GOD, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy
for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the
guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children,
unto the third and to the fourth generation. And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward
the earth, and worshipped. And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O LORD, let my
LORD, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our
sin, and take us for thine inheritance. And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: Before all thy
people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: And all
the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: For it is a terrible thing that I
will do with thee. Observe thou that which I command thee this day: Behold, I drive out before
thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the
Jebusite. Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither
thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee: But ye shall destroy their altars, break their
images, and cut down their groves: For thou shalt worship no other god: For the LORD, whose
name is Jealous, is a jealous GOD: Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land,
and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and
thou eat of his sacrifice; And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a
whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods. Thou shalt make thee
no molten gods. The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat
unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: For in the month Abib
thou camest out from Egypt. All that openeth the matrix is MINE; and every firstling among thy
cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male. But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a
lamb: And if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons
thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before ME empty. Six days thou shalt work, but on the
seventh day thou shalt rest: In earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest. And thou shalt observe
the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's
end. Thrice in the year shall all your menchildren appear before THE LORD GOD, THE GOD of
Israel. For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: Neither shall any man
desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before THE LORD thy GOD thrice in the year.
Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast
of The Passover be left unto the morning. The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring
unto the house of THE LORD thy GOD. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. And
the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: For after the tenor of these words I have
made a covenant with thee and with Israel. And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty
nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the
covenant, The Ten Commandments. And it came to pass, when Moses came down from Mount
Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that
Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. And when Aaron and all
the Children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to
come nigh him. And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation
returned unto him: And Moses talked with them. And afterward all the Children of Israel came
nigh: And he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in Mount
Sinai. And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face. But when Moses
went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came
out, and spake unto the Children of Israel that which he was commanded. And the Children of
Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: And Moses put the vail upon his
face again, until he went in to speak with him. (Exodus 34)
And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it,
and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and
had anointed them, and sanctified them; That The Princes of Israel, heads of the house of their
fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered:
And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a
wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: And they brought them before the
tabernacle. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take it of them, that they may be to do the
service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every
man according to his service. And Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them unto the
Levites. Two wagons and four oxen he gave unto the sons of Gershon, according to their service:
And four wagons and eight oxen he gave unto the sons of Merari, according unto their service,
under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none:
Because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their
shoulders. And the princes offered for dedicating of the altar in the day that it was anointed, even
the princes offered their offering before the altar. And the LORD said unto Moses, They shall
offer their offering, each prince on his day, for the dedicating of the altar. And he that offered his
offering the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of The Tribe of Judah: And his
offering was one silver charger, the weight thereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver
bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them were full of fine flour
mingled with oil for a meat offering: One spoon of ten shekels of gold, full of incense: One
young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: One kid of the goats for
a sin offering: And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five
lambs of the first year: This was the offering of Nahshon the son of Amminadab. On the second
day Nethaneel the son of Zuar, prince of Issachar, did offer: He offered for his offering one silver
charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy
shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a
meat offering: One spoon of gold of ten shekels, full of incense: One young bullock, one ram,
one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: One kid of the goats for a sin offering: And for a
sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: This
was the offering of Nethaneel the son of Zuar. On the third day Eliab the son of Helon, prince of
the children of Zebulun, did offer: His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was
an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the
sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: One golden spoon
of ten shekels, full of incense: One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt
offering: One kid of the goats for a sin offering: And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen,
five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: This was the offering of Eliab the son of
Helon. On the fourth day Elizur the son of Shedeur, prince of the children of Reuben, did offer:
His offering was one silver charger of the weight of an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver
bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled
with oil for a meat offering: One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: One young
bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: One kid of the goats for a sin
offering: And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of
the first year: This was the offering of Elizur the son of Shedeur. On the fifth day Shelumiel the
son of Zurishaddai, prince of the children of Simeon, did offer: His offering was one silver
charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy
shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a
meat offering: One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: One young bullock, one ram,
one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: One kid of the goats for a sin offering: And for a
sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: This
was the offering of Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. On the sixth day Eliasaph the son of Deuel,
prince of the children of Gad, offered: His offering was one silver charger of the weight of an
hundred and thirty shekels, a silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary;
both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: One golden spoon of ten
shekels, full of incense: One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt
offering: One kid of the goats for a sin offering: And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen,
five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: This was the offering of Eliasaph the son of
Deuel. On the seventh day Elishama the son of Ammihud, prince of the children of Ephraim,
offered: His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty
shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of
fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense:
One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: One kid of the goats
for a sin offering: And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five
lambs of the first year: This was the offering of Elishama the son of Ammihud. On the eighth
day offered Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, prince of the children of Manasseh: His offering was
one silver charger of the weight of an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy
shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a
meat offering: One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: One young bullock, one ram,
one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: One kid of the goats for a sin offering: And for a
sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: This
was the offering of Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. On the ninth day Abidan the son of Gideoni,
prince of the children of Benjamin, offered: His offering was one silver charger, the weight
whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel
of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: One golden
spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for
a burnt offering: One kid of the goats for a sin offering: And for a sacrifice of peace offerings,
two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: This was the offering of Abidan
the son of Gideoni. On the tenth day Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai, prince of the children of
Dan, offered: His offering was one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty
shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of
fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense:
One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: One kid of the goats
for a sin offering: And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five
lambs of the first year: This was the offering of Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. On the
eleventh day Pagiel the son of Ocran, prince of the children of Asher, offered: His offering was
one silver charger, the weight whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of
seventy shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil
for a meat offering: One golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: One young bullock, one
ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering: One kid of the goats for a sin offering: And
for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year:
This was the offering of Pagiel the son of Ocran. On the twelfth day Ahira the son of Enan,
prince of the children of Naphtali, offered: His offering was one silver charger, the weight
whereof was an hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, after the shekel
of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering: One golden
spoon of ten shekels, full of incense: One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for
a burnt offering: One kid of the goats for a sin offering: And for a sacrifice of peace offerings,
two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: This was the offering of Ahira the
son of Enan. This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by The Princes
of Israel: Twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold: Each charger of
silver weighing an hundred and thirty shekels, each bowl seventy: All the silver vessels weighed
two thousand and four hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary: The golden spoons
were twelve, full of incense, weighing ten shekels apiece, after the shekel of the sanctuary: All
the gold of the spoons was an hundred and twenty shekels. All the oxen for the burnt offering
were twelve bullocks, the rams twelve, the lambs of the first year twelve, with their meat
offering: And the kids of the goats for sin offering twelve. And all the oxen for the sacrifice of
the peace offerings were twenty and four bullocks, the rams sixty, the he goats sixty, the lambs
of the first year sixty. This was the dedication of the altar, after that it was anointed. And when
Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the
voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from
between the two cherubims: And he spake unto him. (Numbers 7)
And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year
after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, let the Children of Israel also keep The
Passover at his appointed season. In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in
his appointed season: According to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof,
shall ye keep it. And Moses spake unto the Children of Israel, that they should keep The
Passover. And they kept The Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the
wilderness of Sinai: According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the Children of
Israel. And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could
not keep The Passover on that day: And they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: Wherefore are we kept
back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the Children
of Israel? And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command
concerning you. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the Children of Israel,
saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in
a journey afar off, yet he shall keep The Passover unto the LORD. The fourteenth day of the
second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. They
shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: According to all the ordinances
of The Passover they shall keep it. But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and
forbeareth to keep The Passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people:
Because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his
sin. And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep The Passover unto the LORD;
according to the ordinance of The Passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do:
Ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land. And on
the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the
testimony: And at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the
morning. So it was alway: The cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. And
when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the Children of Israel journeyed:
And in the place where the cloud abode, there the Children of Israel pitched their tents. At the
commandment of the LORD the Children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the
LORD they pitched: As long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the Children of Israel kept
the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not. And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon
the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and
according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed. And so it was, when the cloud
abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they
journeyed: Whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed. Or
whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle,
remaining thereon, the Children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: But when it was
taken up, they journeyed. At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the
commandment of the LORD they journeyed: They kept the charge of the LORD, at the
commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses. (Numbers 9)
And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which
I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them. THE LORD our
GOD made a covenant with us in Horeb. The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but
with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day. The LORD talked with you face to face in
the mount out of the midst of the fire, (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew
you the word of the LORD: For ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the
mount;) saying, I am THE LORD thy GOD, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from
the house of bondage. Thou shalt have none other gods before me. Thou shalt not make thee any
graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in Heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the waters beneath the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve
them: For I THE LORD thy GOD am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the
children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, and shewing mercy unto
thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of
THE LORD thy GOD in vain: For the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in
vain. Keep The Sabbath Day to sanctify it, as THE LORD thy GOD hath commanded thee. Six
days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is The Sabbath of THE LORD
thy GOD: In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy
stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as
thou. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that THE LORD thy GOD
brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: Therefore THE
LORD thy GOD commanded thee to keep The Sabbath Day. Honour thy father and thy mother,
as THE LORD thy GOD hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may
go well with thee, in the land which THE LORD thy GOD giveth thee. Thou shalt not kill.
Neither shalt thou commit adultery. Neither shalt thou steal. Neither shalt thou bear false witness
against thy neighbour. Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy
neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or anything
that is thy neighbour's. These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of
the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: And he added no
more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me. And it came to
pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with
fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders; And ye said,
Behold, THE LORD our GOD hath shewed us HIS glory and HIS greatness, and we have heard
HIS voice out of the midst of the fire: We have seen this day that GOD doth talk with man, and
he liveth. Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us: If we hear the
voice of THE LORD our GOD any more, then we shall die. For who is there of all flesh, that
hath heard the voice of THE VOICE OF THE LIVING GOD speaking out of the midst of the
fire, as we have, and lived? Go thou near, and hear all that THE LORD our GOD shall say: And
speak thou unto us all that THE LORD our GOD shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and
do it. And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said
unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee:
They have well said all that they have spoken. O that there were such an heart in them, that they
would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and
with their children forever! Go say to them, Get you into your tents again. But as for thee, stand
thou here by ME, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the
judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to
possess it. Ye shall observe to do therefore as THE LORD your GOD hath commanded you: Ye
shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. Ye shall walk in all the ways which THE
LORD your GOD hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and
that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess. (Deuteronomy 5)
Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which THE LORD your
GOD commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
That thou mightest fear THE LORD thy GOD, to keep all his statutes and HIS commandments,
which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy
days may be prolonged. Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with
thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as THE LORD of thy FATHERS hath promised thee, in
the land that floweth with milk and honey. Hear, O Israel: THE LORD our GOD is ONE LORD:
And thou shalt love THE LORD thy GOD with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all
thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou
shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine
house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine
eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. And it shall be,
when THE LORD thy GOD shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy
fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou
buildedst not, and houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which
thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have
eaten and be full; then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the
land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. Thou shalt fear THE LORD thy GOD, and serve
HIM, and shalt swear by HIS name. Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people
which are round about you; (For THE LORD thy GOD is a jealous GOD among you) lest the
anger of THE LORD thy GOD be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the
earth. Ye shall not tempt THE LORD your GOD, as ye tempted HIM in Massah. Ye shall
diligently keep the commandments of THE LORD your GOD, and HIS testimonies, and HIS
statutes, which HE hath commanded thee. And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the
sight of the LORD: That it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the
good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers. To cast out all thine enemies from before
thee, as the LORD hath spoken. And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What
mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which THE LORD our GOD hath
commanded you? Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and
the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand: And the LORD shewed signs and
wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:
And HE brought us out from thence, that HE might bring us in, to give us the land which HE
sware unto our fathers. And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear THE
LORD our GOD, for our good always, that HE might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. And it
shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before THE LORD our
GOD, as HE hath commanded us. (Deuteronomy 6)
Ye are the children of THE LORD your GOD: Ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any
baldness between your eyes for the dead. For thou art an holy people unto THE LORD thy GOD,
and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto HIMSELF, above all the nations
that are upon the earth. Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing. These are the beasts which ye
shall eat: The ox, the sheep, and the goat, the hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the
wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois. And every beast that parteth the
hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall
eat. Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the
cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: For they chew the cud, but divide not the
hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you. And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet
cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead
carcase. These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: All that have fins and scales shall ye eat:
And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you. Of all clean birds
ye shall eat. But these are they of which ye shall not eat: The eagle, and the ossifrage, and the
ospray, and the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind, and every raven after his kind,
and the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind, the little owl, and
the great owl, and the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant, and the stork,
and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. And every creeping thing that flieth is
unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten. But of all clean fowls ye may eat. Ye shall not eat of
anything that dieth of itself: Thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may
eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: For thou art an holy people unto THE LORD thy
GOD. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of
thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before THE LORD thy
GOD, in the place which HE shall choose to place HIS name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy
wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to
fear THE LORD thy GOD always. And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able
to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which THE LORD thy GOD shall choose to set
HIS name there, when THE LORD thy GOD hath blessed thee: Then shalt thou turn it into
money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which THE LORD thy
GOD shall choose: And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for
oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: And thou
shalt eat there before THE LORD thy GOD, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,
and the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake HIM; for he hath no part nor
inheritance with thee. At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine
increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: And the Levite, (because he hath no
part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are
within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that THE LORD thy GOD may bless
thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest. (Deuteronomy 14)
At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release. And this is the manner of the release:
Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his
neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD's release. Of a foreigner thou mayest
exact it again: But that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release; save when there
shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly bless thee in the land which THE LORD
thy GOD giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it: Only if thou carefully hearken unto the
voice of THE LORD thy GOD, to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee
this day. For THE LORD thy GOD blesseth thee, as HE promised thee: And thou shalt lend unto
many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall
not reign over thee. If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy
gates in thy land which THE LORD thy GOD giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor
shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt
surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth. Beware that there be not a
thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine
eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD
against thee, and it be sin unto thee. Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be
grieved when thou givest unto him: Because that for this thing THE LORD thy GOD shall bless
thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. For the poor shall never cease
out of the land: Therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy
brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land. And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an
Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt
let him go free from thee. And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him
go away empty: Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of
thy winepress: Of that wherewith THE LORD thy GOD hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto
HIM. And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and THE LORD
thy GOD redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day. And it shall be, if he say
unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is
well with thee; Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he
shall be thy servant forever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise. It shall not
seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a
double hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: And THE LORD thy GOD shall bless thee
in all that thou doest. All the firstling males that come of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt
sanctify unto THE LORD thy GOD: Thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy bullock, nor
shear the firstling of thy sheep. Thou shalt eat it before THE LORD thy GOD year by year in the
place which the LORD shall choose, thou and thy household. And if there be any blemish
therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto THE
LORD thy GOD. Thou shalt eat it within thy gates: The unclean and the clean person shall eat it
alike, as the roebuck, and as the hart. Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it
upon the ground as water. (Deuteronomy 15)
And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto
Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou
shalt not go over thither. So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab,
according to the word of the LORD. And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over
against Bethpeor: But no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. And Moses was an
hundred and twenty years old when he died: His eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
And the Children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: So the days of
weeping and mourning for Moses were ended. (Deuteronomy 34:1-8)
THE NEW COVENANT
For unto you is born this day in the city of [Jerusalem, The Holy City,] a Saviour, which is
[Jesus] the Lord. (Luke 2:11)
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the
world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out
of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because
he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great
with Child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she
should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling
clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there
were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about
them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: For, behold, I bring you
good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of
David a Saviour, which is [Jesus] the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the
babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a
multitude of The Heavenly Host praising GOD, and saying, Glory to GOD in THE HIGHEST,
and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away
from them into Heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem,
and see this thing which is come to pass, which the LORD hath made known unto us. And they
came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and The Baby lying in a manger. And when they
had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And
all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary
kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and
praising GOD for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. And when
eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the Child, his name was called Jesus,
which was so named of the angel before He was conceived in the womb. And when the days of
her purification according to The Law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to
Jerusalem, to present him to the LORD; (As it is written in the law of the LORD, Every male
that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the LORD;) And to offer a sacrifice according to
that which is said in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons. And,
behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and
devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: And THE HOLY GHOST was upon him. And it
was revealed unto him by THE HOLY GHOST, that he should not see death, before he had seen
The Lord's [Jesus]. And he came by THE SPIRIT into the temple: And when the parents brought
in The Child Jesus, to do for Him after the custom of the law, then took he Him up in his arms,
and blessed GOD, and said, LORD, now lettest thou THY servant depart in peace, according to
THY word: For mine eyes have seen THY salvation, which THOU hast prepared before the face
of all people; A Light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of THY people Israel. And Joseph
and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of Him. And Simeon blessed them,
and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this Child is set for the fall and rising again of many in
Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own
soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. And there was one Anna, a
prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: She was of a great age, and had lived
with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and
four years, which departed not from the temple, but served GOD with fastings and prayers night
and day. And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of Him to
all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. And when they had performed all things
according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. And the
Child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: And THE GRACE OF GOD was
upon him. Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of The Passover. And when
he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they
had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the Child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph
and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing Him to have been in the company, went a
day's journey; and they sought Him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they
found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking Him. And it came to pass, that after
three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them,
and asking them questions. And all that heard Him were astonished at His understanding and
answers. And when they saw Him, they were amazed: And His mother said unto Him, Son, why
hast Thou thus dealt with us? Behold, Thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And He said
unto them, How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about My FATHER’S
business? And they understood not the saying which He spake unto them. And He went down
with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: But His mother kept all these
sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with GOD and
man. (Luke 2)
There were present at that season some that told Him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had
mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these
Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you,
Nay: But, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower
in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in
Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: But, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. He spake also this
parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit
thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years
I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: Cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
And he answering said unto Him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and
dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: And if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. And He was
teaching in one of the synagogues on The Sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a
spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
And when Jesus saw her, He called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from
thine infirmity. And He laid his hands on her: And immediately she was made straight, and
glorified GOD. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus
had healed on The Sabbath Day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought
to work: In them therefore come and be healed, and not on The Sabbath Day. The Lord then
answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on The Sabbath loose his ox
or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a
daughter of Abraham, whom [the devil] hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this
bond on The Sabbath Day? And when He had said these things, all His adversaries were
ashamed: And all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. Then
said He, Unto what is THE KINGDOM OF GOD like? And whereunto shall I resemble it? It is
like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed
a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it. And again He said, Whereunto
shall I liken THE KINGDOM OF GOD? It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three
measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. And He went through the cities and villages,
teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. Then said one unto Him, Lord, are there few that be
saved? And He said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: For many, I say unto you, will
seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath
shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord,
open unto us; and He shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall
ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But
He shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of
iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac,
and Jacob, and all the prophets, in THE KINGDOM OF GOD, and you yourselves thrust out.
And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south,
and shall sit down in THE KINGDOM OF GOD. And, behold, there are last which shall be first,
and there are first which shall be last. The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying
unto Him, Get thee out, and depart hence: For Herod will kill thee. And He said unto them, Go
ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third
day I shall be perfected. Nevertheless I must walk to day, and tomorrow, and the day following:
For it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the
prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children
together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house
is left unto you desolate: And verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see Me, until the time come
when ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord. (Luke 13)
And it came to pass, as He went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on The
Sabbath Day, that they watched Him. And, behold, there was a certain man before Him which
had the dropsy. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to
heal on The Sabbath Day? And they held their peace. And He took him, and healed him, and let
him go; And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit,
and will not straightway pull him out on The Sabbath Day? And they could not answer Him
again to these things. And He put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when He marked
how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them. When thou art bidden of any man to a
wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of
him; And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin
with shame to take the lowest room. But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest
room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: Then
shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever
exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Then said He
also to him that bade Him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy
brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a
recompence be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the
blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: For thou shalt be
recompensed at the resurrection of the just. And when one of them that sat at meat with Him
heard these things, He said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in THE KINGDOM OF
GOD. Then said He unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his
servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And
they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto Him, I have bought a piece
of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have
bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. And another
said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. So that servant came, and shewed his
Lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly
into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt,
and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is
room. And the Lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel
them to come in, that My house may be filled. For I say unto you, That none of those men which
were bidden shall taste of My supper. And there went great multitudes with Him: And He turned,
and said unto them, If any man come to Me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and
children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And
whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you,
intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have
sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all
that behold it begin to mock him, saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Or
what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether
he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else,
while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
Salt is good: But if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit
for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
(Luke 14)
Then drew near unto Him all the publicans and sinners for to hear Him. And the Pharisees and
scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. And He spake this
parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them,
doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find
it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh
home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I
have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in Heaven over
one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and
sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her
friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I
had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of GOD over one
sinner that repenteth. And He said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to
his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his
living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into
a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all,
there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined
himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would
fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: And no man gave unto him. And
when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough
and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to My Father, and will say unto him,
FATHER, I have sinned against Heaven, and before THEE, And am no more worthy to be called
THY Son: Make Me as one of THY hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But
when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on
his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and
in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants,
Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was
dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Now his elder
son was in the field: And as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. And He said unto him,
Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe
and sound. And he was angry, and would not go in: Therefore came his father out, and intreated
him. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither
transgressed I at any time thy commandment: And yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might
make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy
living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said unto him, Son, thou art
ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad:
For this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. (Luke 15)
And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not GOD, neither regarded man: And there was
a widow in that city; and she came unto Him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And He
would not for a while: But afterward He said within Himself, Though I fear not GOD, nor regard
man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she
weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not GOD avenge HIS
own elect, which cry day and night unto HIM, though HE bear long with them? I tell you that
HE will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of [GOD] cometh, shall He find faith
on the earth? And He spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were
righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and
the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, GOD, I thank thee, that I
am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in
the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up
so much as his eyes unto Heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, GOD be merciful to me a
sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: For every one
that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. And they
brought unto Him also infants, that He would touch them: But when His disciples saw it, they
rebuked them. But Jesus called them unto Him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto Me,
and forbid them not: For of such is THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive THE KINGDOM OF GOD as a little child shall in no wise enter
therein. And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal
life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? None is good, save one, that is, GOD.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear
false witness, honour thy father and thy mother. And he said, All these have I kept from my
youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, He said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: Sell
all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven: And
come, follow Me. And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: For he was very rich. And
when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, He said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter
into THE KINGDOM OF GOD! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for
a rich man to enter into THE KINGDOM OF GOD. And they that heard it said, Who then can be
saved? And He said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with GOD. Then
Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed Thee. And He said unto them, Verily I say unto
you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for THE
KINGDOM OF GOD's sake, who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the
world to come life everlasting. Then He took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold,
we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of
[GOD] shall be accomplished. For He shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked,
and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge Him, and put him to Death: And
the third day He shall rise again. And they understood none of these things: And this saying was
hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. And it came to pass, that as he
was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the
multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before
rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: But he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David,
have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto Him: And when he
was come near, He asked him, saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said,
Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: Thy faith hath
saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying GOD: And all
the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto GOD. (Luke 18)
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of THE
THRONE OF GOD and of The Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the
river, was there The Tree of Life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every
month: And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more
curse: But THE THRONE OF GOD and of The Lamb shall be in it; and HIS servants shall serve
Him: And they shall see His face; and HIS name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be
no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for THE LORD GOD giveth
them light: And they shall reign for ever and ever. And he said unto me, These sayings are
faithful and true: And The LORD GOD of the holy prophets sent HIS angel to shew unto HIS
servants the things which must shortly be done. Behold, I come quickly: Blessed is he that
keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. And I John saw these things, and heard them.
And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed
me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: For I am thy fellowservant, and of thy
brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: Worship GOD. And he
saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: For the time is at hand. He that
is unjust, let him be unjust still: And he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: And he that is
righteous, let him be righteous still: And he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I
come quickly; and My reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am
Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his
commandments, that they may have right to The Tree of Life, and may enter in through the gates
into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and
idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent Mine angel to testify unto
you these things in the churches. I am The Root and The Offspring of David, and The Bright and
Morning Star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And
let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify
unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto
these things, GOD shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man
shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, GOD shall take away his part out of
The Book of Life, and out of The Holy City, and from the things which are written in this book.
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. AMEN. (Revelation 22)
