The Book of Proverbs Chapter 08

Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom

I Corinthians But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us
1:30 wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
I Corinthians That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the
1:31 Lord.

Proverbs 8:1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

In Jesus letter to the seven churches, all churches are told; He that hath an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Those that are of God hear his
voice.

Jesus message unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans:

Revelation As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
3:19
Revelation Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open
3:20 the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I
3:21 also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Revelation He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
3:22
When we don’t listen and rebel against the Lord, we become deaf to the voice of the
Lord.

Ezekiel The word of the LORD also came unto me, saying,
12:1
Ezekiel Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes
12:2 to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious
house.
Ezekiel Therefore, thou son of man, prepare thee stuff for removing, and remove by day
12:3 in their sight; and thou shalt remove from thy place to another place in their
sight: it may be they will consider, though they be a rebellious house.

But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and
the wisdom of God.

I Corinthians For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1:22
I Corinthians But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and
1:23 unto the Greeks foolishness;
I Corinthians But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power
1:24 of God, and the wisdom of God.

Proverbs 8:2 She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

John the Baptist called on people to repent of their ways and prepare for the coming
of Jesus in Matthew 3:3:

Matthew For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of
3:3 one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths
straight.

Prophecy fulfilled:

Isaiah The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the
40:3 LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Isaiah Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low:
40:4 and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
Isaiah And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together:
40:5 for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Proverbs 8:3 She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

Jesus is the door. There is no other way to enter heaven:

John I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and
10:9 out, and find pasture.
John The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that
10:10 they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
10:11

Proverbs 8:4 Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

Jesus’ sheep hear his voice:

John Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou
10:24 make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
John Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my
10:25 Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
John But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
10:26
John My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
10:27
John And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any
10:28 man pluck them out of my hand.

Proverbs 8:5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding

heart.

Putting the Proverbs in order:

Ecclesiastes And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people
12:9 knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many
proverbs.

In Proverbs 1: 21-23, Wisdom is crying out to the simple, the scorner, and the fool,
but when they didn’t listen, the scorner met his destruction. Now, Proverbs 8:5
Wisdom is only crying out to the simple and the fool. Hebrews 12:7 ask the
question:

Hebrews If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is
12:7 he whom the father chasteneth not?

Answer to the question asked in Hebrews 12:7: At this point, Proverbs 8:5, wisdom
is no longer crying out to the scorner. Only to the simple and the fool. In John 8: 43-
44 Jesus rebukes scorners that seek to kill him and let’s them know who THEIR
father is.

John Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
8:43
John Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
8:44 murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth
in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the
father of it.
John And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
8:45
John Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe
8:46 me?
John He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are
8:47 not of God.

Proverbs 8:6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall
be right things.

Proverbs 8:7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my
lips.

Mark 7: 21-23 tells us that wickedness comes from within, so our most important
stewardship is our heart:

Mark For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries,
7:21 fornications, murders,
Mark Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye,
7:22 blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
Mark All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
7:23

Proverbs 8:8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward
or perverse in them.

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;

John Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my
8:14 record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell
whence I come, and whither I go.
John Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
8:15
John And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father
8:16 that sent me.
John It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
8:17
John I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness
8:18 of me.
There is nothing froward or perverse in them. God does not temp man with anything
that is forward, perverse, or evil. James 1: 13-14 makes it clear that no man is to
say that he tempted of God with evil:

James Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be
1:13 tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
James But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
1:14

Proverbs 8:9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find
knowledge.

Friends, family members and even adversaries that don’t understand, usually try to
make it difficult on a person that tries to find the LORD, and tries to leave the sinful
lifestyle. It’s been my experience that these mockers usually never ask, “What’s
right with you?” They usually ask, “What’s WRONG with you?” That type experience
is actually anticipated in I Peter 4:3-5:

I Peter For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the
4:3 Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings,
banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
I Peter Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot,
4:4 speaking evil of you:
I Peter Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
4:5

Proverbs 8:10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice
gold.

Proverbs 8:11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired
are not to be compared to it.

Job’s endless search for wisdom contrast the search for precious jewels:

Job But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
28:12
Job Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
28:13
Job The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
28:14
Job It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
28:15
Job It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the
28:16 sapphire.
Job The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for
28:17 jewels of fine gold.
Job No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is
28:18 above rubies.
Job The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure
28:19 gold.
Job Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
28:20
Job Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the
28:21 air.

Proverbs 8:12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty
inventions.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil
way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

There are seven verses that start with the words: “The fear of the LORD”

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise
wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil
way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of
the holy is understanding.

humility.

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide
satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Proverbs 6: 16-19 warns us of the seven abominations to God. A proud look, which
is first on the list, refers to pride and arrogancy:

Proverbs These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto
6:16 him:
Proverbs A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
6:17
Proverbs An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to
6:18 mischief,
Proverbs A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among

There are seven things that Peter asks us to add to our faith. As an exorcise, let’s see if
we can memorize these:

II Peter Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these
1:4 ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is
in the world through lust.
II Peter And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue
1:5 knowledge;
II Peter And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience
1:6 godliness;
II Peter And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
1:7
II Peter For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be
1:8 barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 – add to your faith virtue

2 – add to virtue knowledge

3 – add to knowledge temperance

4 – add to temperance patience

5 – add to patience godliness

6 – add to godliness brotherly kindness

7 – add to brotherly kindness charity

Proverbs 8:14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

Counsel is mine; it was prophesied that Jesus would be called Counsellor.

Isaiah For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be
9:6 upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The
mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

And sound wisdom:

I Corinthians And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s
2:4 wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
I Corinthians That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of
2:5 God.
I Corinthians Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the
2:6 wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to
nought:
I Corinthians But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom,
2:7 which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
I Corinthians Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they
2:8 would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

I am understanding;
I John And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding,
5:20 that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son
Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
I John Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
5:21

I have strength.

Luke For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
1:49
Luke And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
1:50
Luke He hath showed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the
1:51 imagination of their hearts.
Luke He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
1:52
Luke He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty
1:53 away.

Proverbs 8:15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

Proverbs 8:16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

Princes, rulers, nobles, and all the judges can have no power at all, except it were
given them from above:

John Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And
19:5 Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
John When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying,
19:6 Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him:
for I find no fault in him.
John The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because
19:7 he made himself the Son of God.
John When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
19:8
John And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou?
19:9 But Jesus gave him no answer.
John Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I
19:10 have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
John Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were
19:11 given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater
sin.

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Matthew 6: 31-34 states the importance of Proverbs 8:17 and tells us to seek ye
first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness:

Matthew Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we
6:31 drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Matthew (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father
6:32 knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Matthew But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these
6:33 things shall be added unto you.
Matthew Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought
6:34 for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

The LORD is my shepherd:

Psalm 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

It will be very important to have faith in this matter during the end times. Satan will
play on our fear, hopelessness and despair and will try to force us to receive his
mark:

Revelation And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to
13:16 receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Revelation And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name
13:17 of the beast, or the number of his name.

If you are around during the time of Revelation 13:16, no matter how hungry you
get, do not go the way of Esau and sell your birthright for bread and pottage of
lentils like Esau did in Genesis 25: 29-34. Jesus message to unto the angel of the
church in Smyrna:

Revelation Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast
2:10 some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation
ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Revelation He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He
2:11 that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Proverbs 8:18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

Proverbs 8:19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than
choice silver.

Proverbs 8:20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

Proverbs 8:21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill
their treasures.
Proverbs 8:22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of
old.

Before his works of old: On the first day God said, Let there be light: and there was
light.

Genesis In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
1:1
Genesis And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the
1:2 deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
1:3
Genesis And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the
1:4 darkness.
Genesis And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening
1:5 and the morning were the first day.

On the forth day, God created the sun and the moon:

Genesis And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the
1:14 day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days,
and years:
Genesis And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the
1:15 earth: and it was so.
Genesis And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser
1:16 light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
Genesis And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
1:17
Genesis And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the
1:18 darkness: and God saw that it was good.
Genesis And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
1:19

Light travels at a speed of 186,000 miles per second or 700 million miles an hour.
At this rate, we are only 8.5 minutes from the sun. Scientist predict that is the sun
were to go out suddenly, that we will still have sun light for 8.5 minutes, then every
living thing on earth will be dead within four hours. They don’t take into
consideration the light that was here before the sun. On the third day all vegetation
grew without the sun.

Proverbs The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he
3:19 established the heavens.

Proverbs 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
In the beginning was the Word:

John In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
1:1 God.
John The same was in the beginning with God.
1:2
John All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was
1:3 made.

The Word was made flesh:

John And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory,
1:14 the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one:

I John For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the
5:7 Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending:

Revelation I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which
1:8 is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

The first and the last:

Revelation And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the
2:8 first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
Revelation I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I
2:9 know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are
the synagogue of Satan.

Proverbs 8:24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no
fountains abounding with water.

Proverbs 8:25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

Proverbs 8:26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part
of the dust of the world.

In the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth;

Hebrews And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and
1:10 the heavens are the works of thine hands:
Hebrews They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a
1:11 garment;
Hebrews And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou
1:12 art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

Proverbs 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon
the face of the depth:

Isaiah prophesied about Jesus:

Isaiah Have ye not known? Have ye not heard? Hath it not been told you from the
40:21 beginning? Have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
Isaiah It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as
40:22 grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them
out as a tent to dwell in:
Isaiah That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
40:23

Proverbs 8:28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the
fountains of the deep:

Proverbs 8:29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his
commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

Proverbs 8:30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his
delight, rejoicing always before him;

Proverbs 8:31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the
sons of men.

Worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of
waters.

Revelation And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting
14:6 gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and
kindred, and tongue, and people,
Revelation Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of
14:7 his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the
sea, and the fountains of waters.

Proverbs 8:32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that
keep my ways.

Proverbs 8:33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Proverbs 8:34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at
the posts of my doors.

In Jesus’ letter to the church in Sardis, they are told to be watchful, and strengthen
the things which remain:

Revelation And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that
3:1 hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that
thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
Revelation Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die:
3:2 for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Revelation Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and
3:3 repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and
thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Watching daily at my gates;

Revelation Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his
16:15 garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Make sure you are at the right gate:

Matthew Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
7:13 leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and
7:14 few there be that find it.

Proverbs 8:35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

John And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus
17:3 Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Proverbs 8:36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate
me love death.

There will come a time in the last days that those that worship the dragon and the
beast will seek death, but they will not find it:

Revelation And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall
9:6 desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

II Corinthians For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which
3:11 remaineth is glorious.
II Corinthians Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
3:12
II Corinthians And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of
3:13 Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
II Corinthians But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil
3:14 untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done
away in Christ.
II Corinthians But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.
3:15
II Corinthians Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.
3:16
II Corinthians Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is
3:17 liberty.
II Corinthians But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord,
3:18 are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the
Spirit of the Lord.
