This course is designed for both general practice and subspecialty radiologists who frequently encounter acutely ill or injured patients.

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to: - list the applications of cross sectional imaging in the evaluation of patients with colitis, pancreatitis and appendicitis; - describe the role of scrotal sonography in the evaluation of testicular pain and testicular masses; - relate the state-of-the-art cross-sectional imaging evaluation of patients with chest pain, including pulmonary embolism, acute aortic syndromes, and chest trauma, - recognize the pulmonary manifestions of drug abuse and AIDS; - understand the role of helical CT in the evaluation of suspected abdominal trauma; - describe related interventional techniques, including guidelines for handling cases on-call, managing gastrointestinal hemorrhage, performing biopsies, drainages, interventions and embolization for traumatic and non-traumatic hemorrhage; - review the role of MR in musculoskeletal trauma; - review common and commonly missed muskuloskeletal injuries with an emphasis on trauma and pediatric UCSF Faculty fractures; - understand the role of helical CT in the Terry C.P.
