2. WEEK-1: PRECHECKS & WORKORDER IMPORT

2.1. INTRODUCTION
The checks have to be done with the NodeB CIQ as reference and with the Swap Planning.

2.2. NE RESOURCES PRESENCE

WIPS is an offline configuration tool that provides XML configuration files (Workorder). You can download WIPS from OAM Mainserver in the following directory. /opt/nortel/data/srs/DELIVERY/OAM/ALL/WIPS_UTMS_ACCESS/V5_1-02120072201/WiPS_UMTS_Access-V5_1-021-20072201_windows.full.exe Under WIPS, we can check the presence of all mandatory instances needed for BTS Swap operation. NE resources presence Case of macro BTS (12010, 12020, dCompacts) -BTSEquipment/BTS name -Under RNC/ NodeB/BTS name, -Under RNC/RNC name/RNCEquipment/0INode/RNC name/Aal2if/invccgroupBTS -Under RNC/RNC name/RNCEquipment/0INode/RNC name/AtmMpe/1000/AC/invccgroupBTS -Under RNC/RNC name/RNCEquipment/0INode/RNCname/Iub/invccgroupBTS -Site/BTS name

2.3. BTS/NODEB CONFIGURATION WIPS CHECKS:

WIPS has integrated checks capabilities. The configuration of the NE (NodeB and BTSEqpt) to swap has been loaded through Session Manager at NSP: Menu Configuration/Session Manager Perform a Network snapshot via Configuration/CM XML/Export Network Get the snapshot file from the Main Server via FTP. Import the Network snapshot into WIPS. Reminder: do not modify configuration parameters without Datafill support. Select BTSEquipment in left window Network folder, then right click, select Run Checks to verify datafill consistency on this object Click OK to launch the check session, you should have no error. If you have errors, report them to your Datafill interface Go back to Network/BTSEquipment, right click and select Navigate to -->NodeB Right click on NodeB object, select Run Checks to verify datafill consistency on this object

For more information about a WIPS object, click on object, then select Help/help in menu bar. Youll get detailed information for this object.

7. TROOBLESHOOTING
7.1. ERROR WITH NODEB SESSION (WORKORDER IMPORT)
Probable Cause: Workorder incorrect
If an error occurred at session creation. No actions have been launched after the show impact and the launch session. At his step, the Site has been created and a part of the BTSEquipment has been created. Terminate the sessions and then play the reverse workorder in order to go back to initial situation. You have to exclude the C-Node and the I-Node (let only Site and BTSEquipment) and then launch and then terminate.

If an error occurred during activation of C-Node. Click on Fallback an launch fallback on the C-Node. Then terminate the session and import the reverse workorder and exclude C-Node.

If error occurred during BTSEquipment Activation Check the OAM link state (should be locked) and try again. If its still failed, fallback the C-Node then terminate and then play the reverse workorder excluding C-Node.

Once, youre back into initial situation, check your workorder with Datafill Engineer and retry with the corrected workorder. Note: It also possible to delete Site, BTSEquipment and NodeB using WICL command but this should be use only for specific situation. For this, ask for your level 2 support.

Probable Cause: VCC or VP has been create directly on 7670 without using 5620 Note: this problem is still under investigation.
Corrective Action 1. First try to disconnect and reconnect VCCs and VP 2. Check if old VP from source NodeB has been disconnected. 3. To unblock the situation, as workaround, you can create all the Vcc and VP manually on 7670. Ask to your level 2 support to help you to do this. telnet on 7670 and loggin with level 5 password mainstreet Use the following command (here its an example for VP2 1-5-1-2 to 1-5-1-1 with 1E1). 7.4. IMPOSSIBLE TO CONNECT THE NODEB: PING NOK

Probable Cause: NodeB Commissioning Issue or Transmission Issue
Corrective Action 1. Check the NodeB Commissionning: OMCB IP @, NodeB IP@, PCM Protection module presence, IMA Config..etc. This check has to be done only by I&C technician on-site because nor TIL nor RTC can be used without IP connectivity. 2. Check the Cross_Connection: Port In, Port Out, VPA, Bandwith PIR (1 PCM=1920; 2 PCM=3808; 3 PCM=5720 ), Shapping ..etc 3. Disconnect and Reconnect VPA and VCCs 4. try to lock/unlock the atmmpe/1000 ac/<invccGroup> 5. Try to ping the NodeB again. a. If the ping is NOK, check the link Status with DIVOP. b. In case of IMA configuration , ask for IMA group reset 6. Try to create a VCC test and make a loop on the E1 at NodeB side in order to validate the link. You have also to create the cross-connection for this Test VCC. You need to contact your level 2 support to do the following command! Check that there is no session ongoing for this RNC, then open a Telnet connection on the RNC Start prov You should receive a message mentioning that provisioning view is identical to current view. If not contact your support. Add atmif/xxx vcc/yy.33 test Save prov Check prov

Probable Cause: Incorrect BTSEquipment parameters
Corrective Action 1. Check the in Critical BTS Alarms, a reason might be explained ( ie.BTS INCORRECTLY EQUIPPED, see additional notes) 2. Modify the BTS configuration in order to be able to build the BTS MIB. 3. Check software version using RTC: emo>bts. If software is not the correct one -> download and activate the correct software version using upgrade manager at NSP and with the option MIB rebuild.

4. Bad link state -> lock/unlock OAM link using NSP and then retry the MIB build. 5. dBTS+rrh: Check TMA state is set to No TMA and no to tmaUmtsOnly 6. AAL2Bearer: Using BTS Equipment, check that template under AAL2bearer is compliant with NodeB configuration. (IMA, No IMA)

7.15. LOW RSSI PROBLEM

Probable cause: hardware problem Corrective Action 1. Connect to xTRM or iTRM card in order to check the RSSI Level. To do this: telnet on NodeB EMO>BTS to get the slot of the iTRM or XTRM card. RTC>IP>conn X X is the slot of the cards (most of the time is 3). 2. On the iTRM board use the command: RTC>FLR> O o 3 React 3. RSSI Level will appear on the terminal. Theses level should be around -105dbm for both main and diversity RF way. 4. 7.17. IMPORTANT REMARKS AND ADVICES

Avoid MCPA mismatch in BTS, only 45W or only 60W. iTRM doesnt support MCPA 60W, use only PA45W Compare via Object Editor or WIPS BTSEqpt, BTSCell, FDDCellto other that are OK Use WIPS for Compare and check if you suspect parameters problem Use HFB to retrieve all the alarm occurred on your NodeB in order to understand your problem.
