Answer 1. Let T n= 8+( n1 ) d . 8+( 4 1) d =20 d =4 Hence, that two terms are 12 and 16 . 2. The general term of the sequence is T n= 3+( n1 )( 4) . Then T 10=3+( 101 )( 4)=39 . a + a +d +a + 2 d =21 3. , i.e., ( 7 d )( 7 d +2 d )= 45 a ( a +2 d )= 45 2 49 d =45 d =2 or d =2 (rejected) When d =2 , a =5 . Hence, the smallest number is 5 . [ 2 ( 1 )+( n 1)(7 )] n = 396 4. 2 ( 7 n 5) n =792 72 n =11 or n = (rejected) 7

5. Consider 8+( n 1)( 2)=38 , we get n =16 . Hence, the total length is 5 6.

( 8+ 38)( 16 ) 2

=1840 cm . 72+ 72+ d +72 +2 d +72+3 d =360 d =12 o Hence, the largest angle is 72 + 3 ( 12o)=108o . ( 2 ( 7.6 )+( 15 1)(1.3 ))( 15 ) a + 2 d =5 7. , we get d =1.3 , a =7.6 . Then S 15= a + 4 d = 2.4 2 =22.5 . 8. a) T n=12.75+1.75 n [ 2 (11 )+( 15 1)( 1.75 )]( 15 ) =18.75 b) S 15= 2 [ 2 (11)+( n1 )( 1.75)] n >0 c) 2 n ( 1.7523.75 )>0 n <0 or n >13.57 Hence, n =14 . 5 ( 1 37 ) 9. S 7= =5465 1 3 2 ( 1 3n) 10. = 242 13 n =242
