COURSE OVERVIEW Prayer Each class period will begin and end with prayer. In all that we do we are to give praise and glory to God. Dedicating our time to Him through prayer is necessary to accomplish this command. Plus in studying Greek we could all use a little more prayer to depend on Him!

Homework All homework is due at the beginning of each class period. Each assignment will consist of reading the chapter in Basics of Biblical Greek that was lectured in the previous class period as well as completing the corresponding exercise in the Basics of Biblical Greek Workbook. The vocabulary from that chapter also must be learned by the beginning of class. Quizzes Except for the first, fourth, and final week of class, there will be no assigned quiz. Otherwise there will be a vocabulary quiz every week of class with ten vocabulary words from the assigned chapter. Vocabulary quizzes will be from Greek to English and will have two bonus questions per quiz. Students also must mark on the quiz if they completed the assigned homework. Quizzes will also be reviewed and graded in class when everyone is finished. Lectures Each class will begin with review. Reinforcement is critical to learn anything whether with Bible verses, music, languages, etc. Therefore at the beginning of each class we will review the homework due for that day and reinforce what was learned from the previous week. After review, we will then continue to the next chapter so that the student will be familiar with the homework and vocabulary for that week. All lectures will also be recorded. Participation The lecture portion of class is not a time for the teacher to just lecture, but mainly is for the student to ask the teacher questions about the previous weeks chapter, the upcoming weeks chapter, or any questions related to the subject at hand. It is imperative that the student knows that class is not a time to be obsequious, but to think deeply and have questions that will benefit themselves and others. Extra Credit Extra credit will only be available on the weekly vocabulary quizzes. Each vocabulary quiz will have no more than two bonus questions that will have vocabulary from English to Greek or questions pertaining to the chapter due on that day. The student can earn up to five percent (twelve points) in the course for extra credit. Final Exam For the last day of class, there will be an accumulative final exam with vocabulary, parsing, translation, and questions pertaining to the course textbook and workbook. The week before the final there will also be a review class so the student knows what to expect for the exam.

COURSE ABSENCES In case of an absence please notify the teacher one day in advance at the latest. All lectures will be recorded so if the student is to miss the class period, go to the Course Website, select the Resources tab, and click on Elementary Greek I YouTube Channel to listen to the missed lecture. If a student is absent, he or she is responsible to complete the homework for that week and the upcoming week by the next class period. Failure to do so will result in a zero for both homework assignments. The student must also take the missed quiz the following week. Failure to take the missed quiz will result in a zero.
