EFFECTS OF ILLEGAL LOGGING Forests are the richest and most diverse biological system on the face of the

earth. Forests are valuable and useful natural resources, providing fresh air and varied recreational areas. Logging brings short-term benefits, however, logging harms us all in the long term. Logging should be excluded from Native Forests. There are two main reasons to support that. Firstly, logging forests destroys the ecosystem and brings long-term harm. Forests are an interrelated part of ecosystem. They can prevent soil erosion and pollution of rivers with sediment. Logging takes most of the trees and destroys forests ecosystem. Therefore, the greenhouse effect, soil erosion and animal extinction is getting serious day by day. Illegal logging increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Also, due to the disappearance of trees, photosynthesis cannot take place. Deforestation is rampant today due to the burden of our needs on land. The levels of deforestation have increased by about 9% in recent times. Also, the burning of wood causes it to decay, therefore releasing more carbon-dioxide into the atmosphere. With the increase in population, more and more forests are being cut to provide accommodation and other amenities to people. This has led to an increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Deforestation is having a significant effect on the worlds climate and geography. It is one of the primary contributors to modern climate change. Its estimated that deforestation currently contributes about 20% of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions directly. Indirectly it contributes significantly by causing carbon dioxide to stay in the atmosphere for longer, rather than being taken up by plants. An estimated 1.5 billion tons of carbon is released every year by tropical deforestation. Deforestation considerably increases the rate of soil erosion, through the actions of increased rainfall run off and decreased ground debris. This is further compounded by the increasing aridity of the unprotected soils and the

absence of vegetation and roots that work to hold the soil together. Since deforestation removes trees, the soil particles become detached, meaning more rainwater can get in and cause landslides and flooding. Fewer trees mean the ground is more vulnerable to the elements. The soil can also lose its moisture, minerals and nutrients by being exposed. When the ground surface is stripped of vegetation, the upper soils are vulnerable to both wind and water erosion. Soil is washed into rivers when it rains, and then out to sea. This destroys the ability for the land to regenerate because it has lost its topsoil. It also destroys marine environments. In several parts of the world, entire sections of countries have been rendered unproductive because of soil loss. Deforestation has been the cause of a truly massive number of species extinctions in modern times and historical times. Even when the originally deforested area is over time reforested, it always lacks the large biodiversity of its previous state. With the disappearance of the original forest, many species will extinct, and many that dont lose a great deal of their genetic diversity and variation. This has significant implications for the medical and agricultural industries. Many potential medicines, and disease and pest resistant varieties of agricultural plants, have been lost as a result of deforestation. With the loss of many related wild species, much genetic diversity is lost that could address potential future disease outbreaks and climatic changes. Its currently estimated that the world is losing around 137 plant, animal and insect species every day as a result of rainforest deforestation. Thats roughly 50,000 species going extinct every year. Thus, deforestation is an important issue to be discussed. It has adverse effects on each living beings' life. Deforestation has become a huge concern in today's life as there has been a rise in the decline of forests. Trees are cut down in order to manufacture paper products as well as for livestock farming and so on. So a more workable solution would be to carefully look after the trees natural resources by reducing or restricting how much trees you cut and where you cut them at.It could also be limited by planting trees to replace the

one you recently chopped so you could chop trees for lumber without destroying the entire forest.Deforestation can be solved only if every one cooperate with each other and stop people from vandalizing animals homes.Remember you can make a change and influence the people around you to save our beautiful planet.

MOBILE PHONE SHOULD BE BANNED IN SCHOOL These days, mobile phones are everywhere on the streets. Mobile phones are not what they used to be for only calling or texting. Now, there are games, music and camera functions available in a mobile phone. Hence, I disagree that mobile phones should be banned in schools as there are advantages of students bringing their phones to school. It should be allowed to use cell phones in schools as if there is any emergency case parents can easily inform their children. It should not be allowed to use during lectures but during break it should be allowed. And it also helps after school time as if the children have any transport problem they can inform their parents. Other than this if they have to stay at school after the school time is over for any type of preparation they can inform their parents. but there is some schools that let phones in because of the safety reasons. Furthermore, mobile phone can also be used as an educational tool during the lesson. According to Apple, about 1.5 million of their electronic devices are being used in classrooms. For example, students can take a picture of the blackboard in the classroom so they dont need to copy down notes. There are also free calendar applications on the phone to enter the essential dates for teachers to make plans for what to do in class. It can used for many educational things like research, projects, calculators, and even putting in important dates when a homework assignment or a project is due. These are just some of the benefits of cell phones which evidentially make our life manageable. Besides, a lot of useful information we can find through internet. Students need internet to make research. So it is logical if students are allowed to use cell phones in school. All smart phones can access internet, which can help a student to make extensive personal reading. Schools can use computers in classrooms, but encourage phone usage out of the classroom. Schools can provide free wifi internet at school so that their students can easily access internet while at school. Most important educational websites like

Wikipedia.org and Google.com can

phones.

Therefore, students can find the extra and useful knowledges that cannot be find in the textbook or from the library. In the nutshell, considering all the reasons, I strongly stand with that mobile phones should not be banned as it is au useful educational tool in the class. It can also be used for the information and emergencies. Thus, mobile phones should not be banned in school.
