Demand is high and sizing is still running small. Extra Large and Jumbo sizing is very tight. Broccoli markets are stronger. Supplies are increasing from Canada. Quality is good during transition. Market conditions are stable. Cauliflower markets are up as supplies are lighter. Markets are steady and the Salinas area is in full swing. Supplies and quality are better. Michigan has started. Product is harvesting in New York. Demand has been consistent with good quality reported. Michigan volumes have started and markets are starting to ease. Quality is improving. Southeastern Eggplant supplies are wrapping up, and quality is fair. Markets are stable as supplies and quality increase. Markets are starting to ease. New York volume has begun. Quality is good. Cilantro (California) quality and supplies are tight due to weather. All other herbs are in good supply from South America. Iceberg markets are heating up as supplies are lighter and demand is strong. All lettuces are showing increased quality with stronger demand being met with ample supplies. Leaf markets are steady. Romaine markets are strong and volumes are light. Spring mix quality has been fair as we move into Salinas. Supplies will improve with the quality as warmer weather spread over the area this past week. Stable supplies of most mushrooms with good quality. New Mexico and California are in full swing and markets are steady. Washington is beginning. Good quality and volume is being reported.

Markets are softer as more product is available. Guatemala is entering its seasonal dry period. Quality is good. Quality is good with tighter supplies. Pepper markets are up as we transition from the Carolinas into the Michigan area, then Canada. Markets are steady; supplies and quality are good. Russet Potato supplies in Idaho and Washington are shrinking faster than previously expected. This is due to lower pack out yields of the storage crop caused by quality issues. Washington has started, and Idaho is expected mid-to-late-August. Washington potatoes may become a substitute for Idaho potatoes for the short term. Packers are doing their best with the quality at hand. Red, Yellow and White Potato supplies will be light until eastern area sizing improves enough to harvest. Larger sizes remain tight. Supplies tighter due to previous weather issues. Conditions are expected to continue for two weeks. Quality issues affecting arrivals are due to summer weather. Pepper and Squash markets are up as we transition from the Carolinas into the Michigan area, then Canada. Round markets are stronger as we transition growing areas into the Carolinas and Alabama. Grape Tomato markets are steady and Roma markets are off.

The Apple season continues with lower than average supplies especially on smaller fruit. Quality is good. Markets are firming up as demand is stronger. Mexico is finished and sizing is running large. Markets are higher on smaller sizes. Quality is good. The supply has stabilized in the various growing regions. Quality is good. Markets are stable. Supplies and quality from Guatemala are fine.

Quality is good. Supplies are better on larger sizes. Markets are strong but steady and quality is good with larger sizes tight. Light volumes of imports have started. Markets are steady. Overall quality and supplies are good on all sizes. Valencia Oranges remain tight and quality is fair. A note about re-greening: When the fruit ripens on the tree, it turns a bright orange color; hot weather may make the skin reabsorb chlorophyll as it hangs on the tree, causing a ripe orange to look partly green. This is a natural process that occurs to protect the fruit from over-ripening on the tree. Green Grape supplies are coming on steadily; Red Grape markets are stable. Overall quality and availability are good. The California growing areas are in full swing. Globe Grapes are steady from Mexico and supplies are good. Quality and volume are fine. The California west side is in full swing. Markets are stable. Availability and sugar are good for both melons as larger sizes predominate. Supplies are better as product is harvested from South Carolina. Quality is fair as harvesting moves to Indiana next week. Bosc and Anjou varieties are coming from Washington. Markets are stable with quality fruit. Supplies are consistent with good quality. Brix has been averaging 14-16% with average internal gold color.
