AluKlik 135 Double width XXL

Mobile working platform EN 1004-3-8/12 Scaffold group 3 Maximum load: 450 kg Maximum load per m: 200 kg Maximum working height: 10 m outdoors, 14 m indoors

Dear Altec customer,

with your AluKlik 135 double width XXL scaffold you have bought a moderately priced, heavy-duty, and easyto-handle aluminium scaffold in our proved ALTEC-quality. The mobile scaffold tower AluKlik 135 double width XXL has been manufactured according to DIN 4422-1/HD 1004, August 1992 and the latest regulations for mobile scaffolds of the Bau- und Berufsgenossenschaft (German professional association for constructions), April 1996 issue.

Areas of use
The mobile scaffold AluKlik135 double width XXL corresponds to scaffold groupaccording to HD 1004: 1992. The maximum total load of the working-platform is 228 kg. This must not be exceeded even if the load is distributed over several platforms. Possible areas of use for the mobile scaffold AluKlik135 double width XXL are e.g. plastering and stucco works, painting works, renovation and maintenance works etc. If material is stored on the platform surface a passage of 0, 2 m has to be left open. A mobile working platform is not intended for use as a staircase-tower to reach other constructions. It is not intended to be lifted or to be attached to other devices. Mounting of bridges between the mobile scaffold and buildings is not allowed.

General instructions for assembly and use

Any person handling the mobile working-platform must obey following security instructions: Only persons who are familiar with this manual are allowed to assemble, dismantle and use the scaffold. The scaffold may only be erected and used horizontally on sufficiently load-bearing ground. The surface on which the scaffold is to be erected must be able to carry the weight of the scaffold itself and the allowed maximum load. The wind conditions have to be taken into consideration. Check if all parts necessary for the erection of the mobile working-platform are at hand at the construction site. Only original parts by the manufacturer may be used. Before assembly all parts have to be checked for their faultless condition. Damaged or faulty parts may not be used. Erection and dismantling of the working platform has to be carried out according to the instructions detailed in this manual. If specified stabilisers and ballast have to be fitted. Starting with AluKlik135-600 it is advisable that two persons fitted carry out erection and dismantling of the scaffold. Lifting up of parts for the erection of the higher sections (also tools and working materials) should be done as close to the scaffold tower as possible to avoid leaning out far over the railing. For erection and dismantling system-platforms or scaffold planks according to DIN 4420 (measurements: 28 x 4, 5 cm minimum) have to be used. Make sure that these are fitted as auxiliary platforms in intervals of 2 m maximum to ensure secure standing for further erection and dismantling. If scaffold planks are used as auxiliary platforms on the same level as intermediate platforms or working platforms a horizontal brace has to be fixed parallel to the scaffold planks on each side of

Parts must not be assembled or dismantled by force (e.g. by strokes with a hammer). The maximum platform height is 11, 5 m indoors and 7, 6 m outdoors. With all assembly variations it is not allowed to increase the height of the platform area by the means of ladders, boxes or other devices. Platform areas above 2 m platform height must be with a threepiece guard rail consisting of two horizontal braces and toe board. The toe board can be dispensedwith at intermediate platforms which are only used for ascending the scaffold. The fitting of the guard rail has to be carried out according to the instructions for erection and use. Before use the scaffold has to be checked for complete and correct assembly including the security device against unintentional unhinging of parts. Check if the mobile working platform has been erected in due order according to the instructions regarding the regular model (correct and complete assembly) and if it is standing in an upright position. Divergence from the perpendicular may only be 1 % maximum; this has to be checked by means of a spirit-level and if necessary has to be corrected. Brakes on castors have to be in locked position. Influences of possible changes in the exterior conditions have to be taken into account. Installation and use of lifting devices on the scaffold is not allowed. Climbing up and down the scaffold may only be done from the scaffold interior. The trapdoors of platforms are only to be opened for passage and otherwise have to remain closed. It is forbidden to jump on platforms. When the scaffold is used outdoors or in open buildings it has to be moved in a wind-protected area or be secured against

the scaffold for stabilising purposes. wind velocity 6 is exceeded there is a noticeable resistance while walking.) Do not use the scaffold during a thunderstorm. To ensure a secure stand of the scaffold please pay attention to the points fitting of stabilisers. Starting from AluKlik135-800 four stabilisers have to be fitted for each scaffold. You should note that horizontal loads may arise through use, e.g. by working on adjoining constructions, which may capsize the scaffold. Note: At corridor buildings and at building corners

capsizing by other means when wind velocity is above 6 (Beaufort scale), with squally wind or when work is left off. (If additional wind-loads may arise through tunnelling effects. The working platform must not be used for work on parts that are under electricity or for work on running machines. When working outdoors the folding scaffold AluKlik135 has to be dismantled or additionally secured against capsizing or rolling away if work is interrupted for some time, at closing time or if wind velocity above 12 m/s (wind force 6 on the Beaufort scale) is to be expected.

Instructions for moving the scaffold

For moving the scaffold when it is already erected the brakes of all 4 castors have to be loosened. The stabilisers may only be retracted so far that the base plates are not more than 3 cm above ground. Furthermore the scaffold has to be secured against capsizing by appropriate measures. Additional wind-loads, which may arise, have to be taken into account as well. The working platform may only be pushed by hand on solid, level and unobstructed ground. The ground on which the scaffold is to be moved has to be able to carry the weight of the scaffold, the allowable maximum load of the scaffold and additional loads. The scaffold may only be moved in a longitudinal or diagonal line. Normal walking pace may not be exceeded. When the scaffold is erected one-sided with wall support it may only be moved parallel to the wall. There must be no persons or loose materials on working or intermediate platforms when the scaffold is moved. After the scaffold has been moved it has to be aligned vertically again. Castors have to be locked by pushing down the brake lever. The stabilisers have to be realigned so that the base plate sits firmly on the ground to ensure effective support.

Service and maintenance

Never let parts of the scaffold drop from great height. Scaffold parts must not be exposed to corrosive fluids or gases. Lubricate the safety bolts of the horizontal and diagonal braces and the snap joints of the folding elements with oil from time to time. Clean the scaffold regularly, especially the movable parts, from paint, plaster, mortar or other remnants through steam jet cleaning. After each use check the scaffold parts for fractures, fissures or other damages. Contact the manufacturer for treatment of damaged parts. Store scaffold parts in an upright standing position or horizontally in a dry place. When transporting scaffold parts check if these are sufficiently secured.

With reservation to errors or technical alterations.

19. Ballast regulations If regular assembly is followed (using stabilisers 2, 6 m) no ballast is needed in mid position and in wall position if two pieces of wall support ( accessory article no. K00-WA-1000-0-0) are used. Alternatively, if the scaffold is erected with stabilisers 2, 2 m: In mid position on two stabilisers diagonally apart one ballast weight of 10 kg each = a total of 20 kg. In wall position no ballast is needed if two pieces of wall support ( accessory article no. K00-WA-1000-0-0 ) are used. In wall position no ballast is needed if two pieces of wall anchorage are used. Dismantling is carried out in reverse order. Please note that the erection of mobile scaffolds with a working height exceeding 10 m is only allowed indoors according to DIN 4422!

Attach wall support

If detailed in the instructions for erection two pieces of wall support (accessory article no. K00-WA-1000-0-0) have to be fitted. Below the uppermost platform the wall support is pushed over the frame tube and tightened with the wing nut. Thus the scaffold is propped against the wall in the prescribed distance. If the wall support is not fixed secure standing of the scaffold cannot be guaranteed.

Attach ballast
When the scaffold is erected in mid position fasten the ballast weights to the upper sloping tube of the stabilisers by way of the affixed coupler as near the root point as possible. Each piece of ballast has a weight of 10 kg. Consult the ballast regulations of the particular scaffold type for the necessary amount of ballast weights. The ballast weights are available as accessory (article no. K00-BL-0000-0-S). If the scaffold is erected in wall position attach the ballast weights to the vertical frame tubes of the foldable base unit that are near the wall. Only solid ballast weights may be used and no fluid or granular ballast. Note: There is the risk of accidents if ballast regulations are not minded!

Assembly of adjustable leg

1. Take the castor (1) out of the frame tube of the foldable base unit (2) by loosening the fastening screw M10 x 60 (3). 2. Insert the adjustable leg (4) into the tube socket of the castor and fasten it with the screw M10 x 60 (3). Make sure that the tube sits firmly in the socket. 3. Insert the adjustable leg (4) into the frame tube of the foldable base unit (2). Make sure that the holes in the frame tube and the aluminium sleeve of the adjustable leg are aligned. Secure the adjustable leg by means of the clip (5). Adjust height by means of the nut on the adjustable leg.

Attach wall anchorage

Alternatively to wall supports and ballast two pieces of wall anchorage may be used in wall position. Assembly: 1. Hold the wall anchor to the outside of the frame tube near the wall below the first platform to determine the position for the wall screw. 2. Drill a hole of 14 mm diameter. Insert a dowel. 3. Screw in the wall screw. 4. Hang the wall anchor in the eye of the screw and attach it via normal coupler to the outside of the frame tube. The colour marked side of the coupler is attached to the frame tube.
