Air Pollution
Air pollution is the contamination of air by abnormal materials, which cause adverse effects on life and environment. The most visible air pollution is the smog that covers heaven in many cities like Beijing. There are natural and industrial reasons; the natural resource are volcanoes and the industrial reasons are the power generation, livestock and transportation. Power generation has the highest ratio in air pollution and it comes as the first cause of air pollution. The demand for power is increasing every day and the companies use the electricity in most of the daily life requirements. Therefore, the use of fossils fuel is also increasing, and lead to the emission of toxic gases. According to Smith College statistics the power generation is responsible for 62.6% of the U.S. sulfur dioxide emissions that contribute to acid rain, 21.1% of the U.S. nitrous oxides emissions that contribute to urban smog and 40% of the U.S. carbon emissions that contribute to global climate change. Livestock, many people do not believe that the livestock contributes in the air pollution. According to Mark Bittman, American food journalist and author, the livestock comes as second resource for air pollution, and nearly one-fifth of all greenhouse gas is generated by livestock production. Methane gas, emitting form livestock waste, is twenty times toxic more than Carbone dioxide. On the other hand,

spreading the livestock waste to the surrounding field for livestock sends waste particles to the air, and that can penetrate the lungs and causes many diseases beside the toxic gases emitted from the manure. Finally, the transportation, in 2004 transportation recoded a high present in air pollution, and according to the Statistics Canada www.statcan.gc.ca; the ratio of pollutant gases emitted from vehicles reached to 75% of carbon monoxide, more than 50% of nitrogen oxides, and more than 25% of VOCs (Volatile organic compounds) and 17% of fine particulate matter in the air we breathe. And these gases also effect the environment same as the other gases emitted from power generation. To sum up, the air pollution is increasing by our uses for power, livestock and transportation, and we use more than our real need. Renewable energy is the clean alternative source for energy and it can offer a good power without pollution. Reducing the consumption of meat also can minimize the air contamination and the vegetables and fruits will be enough for our health. For transportation using of electricity cars will reduce the emission of toxic gases.
