SCENE 1 FADE IN: EXT. SWEATSHOP - MORNING - TAIWAN The camera follows the morning rotation of employees filing into a massive sweat-shop in TAIWAN which manufactures APPLE products has just begun. Drab faces in the grey atmosphere of urban TAIWAN smother any hints of camaraderie. LOUD PROPAGANDA in CHINESE can be heard through the megaphone of the SUPERVISOR. CUT TO: BLACKOUT. INT. SWEATSHOP - MORNING - TAIWAN LIN and WANG are at their work stations now, sitting less than five inches from one another. They are constantly being checked out by their SUPERVISOR. LIN (to WANG) Heres the book you loaned me. WANG Keep that down, man, you know theres always someone watching. LIN Can I at least-(trailing off as the SUPERVISOR comes near them) Jung was saying there should be a spiritual purpose beyond material goals, right? SUPERVISOR (on a mega-phone) A good worker is rewarded by the satisfaction he puts into his work and the collective gains for his fellow man and that of your friends at the Pegatron Corporation

WANG (quietly to Lin) I think Jung was also saying, that in order to discover and fulfill our deep innate potential, that we, I dont know, must go on some sort of a journey to transformation. Individuation - he called it. The journey to meet the self, and at the same time, to meet the divine. Consciousness integrating with unconsciousness, but still, in a way, retaining their relative autonomy. Thats what he said was necessary for a person to become whole. LIN Just out of curiosity does this actually mean something or have some of the few remaining bits of your brain just evaporated? WANG In these conditions-WANG is cut off by a loud alarm. The entire sweat-shop stops production immediately. SUPERVISOR At this time the benevolent managers of the Pegatron Corporation request that you take the next two hours and use them for personal productivity. WANG I knew something was going to happen today. I think its time. The three file into a massive line of hundreds of humans practically racing to get out of the sweat-shop. The murky air and gloomy conditions all around are combated by signs which promote unity in the workplace. As the trio step outside they see a well known advocacy group, CHINA LABOR WATCH, begin a surprise tour of the facilities. CUT TO: EXT. A BROKEN DOOR LEADING TO THE SWEATSHOPS ROOF CUT TO:

BLACKOUT INT. OFFICE BOARD-ROOM - CHINA MOBILE HQ - DAY The board-room of CHINA MOBILE is impeccably clean and displays a view of smog-filled Beijing. When construction started the owners told their Corporate Clients they would be able to see all of Beijing from their windows. Now, only a few feet are visible until views are obstructed by a greenish/gray hue. TIM COOK I think its important that CHINA MOBILE integrate their system to support our popular iPhone. XI GUOHUA (in English with a heavy Chinese accent) This may be true Mr. Cook but I respectfully must-XI GUOHUA is interrupted by a young man who frantically enters and whispers something to him in Chinese. XI GUOHUA (CONTD) Im afraid we must re-schedule our meeting, Mr. Cook, with all due respect. CUT TO: BLACKOUT EXT. SWEATSHOP - ROOFTOP - DAY LIN and WANG have broken the door to the rooftop of their living facility. They are on the twelfth floor and walking to the edge of the building. CUT TO: BLACKOUT INT. OFFICE BOARD-ROOM - CHINA MOBILE HQ - DAY XI GUOHUA has moved to another room in order to discuss the current situation in their sweat-shop in TAIWAN.

XI GUOHUA I thought you said we would have notice the next time these worthless-(trailing off) CUT TO: BLACKOUT EXT. SWEATSHOP - ROOFTOP - DAY LIN and WANG sit on the edge of the building. WANG Jung said it was a completely natural process, one that was necessary for the integration of the psyche to take place. LIN Is this really the only way for us to have freedom here? WANG Maybe not freedom, but we might at once be at peace with the horror that surrounds us. LIN Isnt there another way? WANG Not in this lifetime. CUT TO: BLACKOUT INT. OFFICE BOARD-ROOM - CHINA MOBILE HQ - DAY XI GUOHUA sits alone in a massive board-room. He knows that the unexpected visit from CHINA LABOR WATCH will surely find violations.

XI GUOHUA was brought on board the CHINA MOBILE team because he had high connections with members of various advocacy groups across CHINA and TAIWAN. He knows what now must be done in order to prevent the shame this ordeal will bring. CUT TO: BLACKOUT EXT. SWEATSHOP - ROOFTOP - DAY LIN and WANG are still sitting on the edge of the building. Long ago the Pegatron Corporation installed nets in order to prevent suicides from roof-top jumps. But not in this particular place. WANG He said, after enlightenment, after the conscious bonds with the unconscious, there will be no distinction between being alive or dead, that we live on through our actions. That what we do today has a direct effect on another person in every single universe. LIN Im not sure about this. The two embrace passionately. CUT TO: BLACKOUT EXT. OUTSIDE SMOKERS AREA - CHINA MOBILE HQ - DAY XI GUOHUA is alone and timidly looks down from the 24th floor. He begins to climb the railing. CUT TO: BLACKOUT EXT. UNKNOWN RURAL CHINA - DAY An APPLE falls elegantly falls from a distant tree. When it hits ground SCREAMS and SIRENS can be heard.
