Kingdom worked called for repentance (Matthew 3:2). Jesus then began teaching about the kingdom in parables. Within the parables are the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 13:11). Consider the passages listed from Matthew 13, keeping in mind Jesus was revealing a different kind of kingdom than what the people were expecting. Rather than begin with Israel (God chosen people), all people respond differently to the Word of God Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:1-23 Rather than rule over the world, people of faith live with people in the world Matthew 13:24-43 Rather than begin in glory (really big), the kingdom begins in small things Matthew 13:31-32 Rather than accept only the righteous, the kingdom welcomes the unrighteous Matthew 13:33-35 Rather than being a public appeal, the kingdom is hidden and found by those who search Matthew 13:44-46 Borrowed from The Discovery Study Bible. Message from Pastor Reid

Engaging in Kingdom Work for Our Lord
When John the Baptist, the forerunner of Jesus, started his preaching in the wilderness his first words were, repent, for the Kingdom of God is near. (Matthew 3:2) There are over 82 references in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) to the Kingdom of Heaven or Kingdom of God. There were three lines of thought about kingdom during Jesus earthly ministry. The first was an earthly kingdom in which was visible to all there were people who thought Jesus would overthrow the Roman rule and set up His kingdom on earth. The second was a coming kingdom , spoken of by Old Testament prophets, where Gods rule/kingship would be active and visible. The third, which Jesus taught about, was a kingdom where Gods rule is active, but invisible (in our hearts!). As we continue to engage in kingdom work at Faith Christian Church I am confident God is smiling and putting His favor on us. This coming weekend offers us a great opportunity, through our Vacation Bible School, to advance Gods Kingdom. Keep praying and looking up God is at work! ~Pastor Reid
