Pursuant to Article V, Sec 31, Sec 32 of RA 9292, The Electronics Engineering Law of 2004, and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Resolution No. 2008-465 Series of 2008, all licensed PECEs, ECEs, & ECTs shall be required to comply with pertinent rules and regulations on continuing professional education (CPE) as promulgated by the Professional Regulatory Board of Electronics Engineering (PRBECE) in coordination with the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IECEP). The CPE program shall have the following objectives: 1. To provide and ensure the continuous education of PECEs, ECEs,& ECTs with the latest trends in the profession brought about by modernization and scientific & technological advancements; 2. To raise and maintain the PECEs, ECEs, and ECTs capability for delivering professional services; 3. To attain and maintain the highest standards of quality in the practice of his profession. 4. To make PECEs, ECEs, & ECTSs, globally competitive and 5. To promote the general welfare of the public. The total CPE Credit Units (CU) for licensed PECEs and ECEs shall be sixty (60) Credits Units for three (3) years, provided that a minimum of fifteen (15) Credit Units be earned per year. For licensed ECTs, thirty (30) Credit Units shall be required for three (3) years, provided that a minimum of ten (10) Credit units be earned per year. Any excess Credit Units shall not be carried over to the next three-year period except credit units earned for doctoral or masteral degrees. One credit hour of a CPE program, activity or source shall be equivalent to one (1) Credit Unit. CPE Credit Units shall be granted only to accredited programs and providers.

THE SCOPE AND NATURE OF PRACTICE OF THE ELECTRONICS: Application of engineering sciences and/or principles in the fields of electronics, including communications and/or telecommunications, information and communications technology (ICT), computers and their networking and hardware/firmware/software development and applications, broadcast/broadcasting, cable and wireless television, consumer and industrial electronics, electro-optics/photonics/opto-electronics, electro-magnetics, avionics, aerospace, navigational and military applications, medical electronics, robotics, cybernetics, biometrics and all other related and convergent fields.

Programs, activities or sources qualified for CPE credits include the following: 1. Seminars/conventions as participants, resource speaker, panelist, reactor, facilitator or moderator. 2. Academic preparation such as a masters or doctoral degree, residency, externship, fellowship. 3. Completion of self directed learning package. 4. Authorship of published technical report, Paper, book, article, journal etc 5. Inventions 6. Completion of post-graduate or in-service training 7. study/observation 8. Professional Chair 9. Other activities/programs/sources to be recommended by the IECEP-CPE council and approved by PRC-CPE Council.
