ATTENDANT CONSOLE
Attendant console is an integral part of OKI exchange. It is a peripheral device and is connected by a 64-pin connector through POTE card, which is provided in LTE. It is used to connect-trunk circuits, tie line circuits and stations. This has a key pad, mode change over key R0 to R3 on the right side, 10 function keys C0 to C9 on the bottom side and an END key. It has a perspective plate, which is divided into 11 columns and 4 rows as shown in the figure 1. It has 33 squares under which functional lamps are provided which glow during different operations. On the top of these squares there are three rectangular portions which also have lamps under them. On the right side of this top rectangle there is another rectangle which is provided to indicate HOLD and INS modes of circuits. To the right side of this there are mode change over keys R0,R1,R2,R3 corresponding to mode lamps INS,TERM, ORG,CKT. For Example when key R2 is pressed the operator goes to the originating mode, which means that he can originate a call. Normally TERM glows, which indicates that the Attendant console is in the termination mode. The INS lamp glows during progress of any call. The function keys are located below the perspective plate. Different function can be performed by pressing these keys. For example, for an incoming C.O. line call the COA function lamp flashes. The operator answers to this call by pressing the corresponding function key C4, which is located below COA lamp. End key is provided to end the process and to get isolated from the connection. There is a volume control knob provided on top right side to control the audibility of the tone for alerting the operator. A liquid crystal display is provided on the top. In normal condition LCD display gives 00 on the left side and (on the right side) system time. When the Exchange goes off the time will get reset to 00 and it should be brought back after normalisation of exchange through DTY command from MAC. It is provided with a handset for speech. Normally there will not be dial tone in the receiver. The handset is fitted into jack. One reset button is provided in the console for resetting any malfunction.

ATTENDANT CONSOLE FEATURES 1. Station Calling: The attendant can call any station by dialling the station number from the keypad.

2. Two-Way Splitting: The operator can select the three party call (ATT, C.O or Tie line and station line) and split the call into a two party call (ATT & C.O/Tie line or ATT & Station line) by pressing OK or PK keys. This feature is also applicable when the three party call composes of ATT & Two Station Numbers, ATT & Two Tie Lines and ATT, C.O/Tie Line. 3. Call Hold: The operator can place a call from C.0 line, Tie line or Station line) on hold and can later return to the hold call. 4. Direct Outward Dialling: The operator can seize a C.O line for call origination by pressing the COG or PBCOG key or dialling C.O access code. 5. Non-Delayed Connection: The operator can originate a C.O line call by pressing COG key and transfer the call to the station user who has requested such a connection. 6. Camp-On-Ringing: The Operator can Camp-On a C.O line or a Tie line to a ringing station by pressing the END key. When called station answers the camp-on call will be connected to the station user. 7. Camp-On Busy: The operator can Camp-On the C.O line or Tie line call to a busy station, by pressing END key. When the called party becomes free, the Camp-On call will ring. 8. Semi-Automatic Camp-On: In case of transfer of C.O line or Tie line to a station from ATT, the operator can leave the position by hold operation, When the called station is busy. As soon as the called station is free lamp indication is made and the station is called for transfer connection. 9. Prevention of Double Camp-on: This feature prevents double registration of Camp-On busy to the same station user at one time. 10. Serial Call: When Tie line or C.O line terminating calls are received by ATT and ATT is requested to connect the call to two or more stations, the first station is connected by pressing SEC key. At the completion of first call which is indicated at the ATT a Second station is connected after hearing the request. 11. Inter Position Transfer: C.O line or Tie line call terminated to one ATT can be transferred to another ATT. 12. Inter Position Calling: The Operator can call any other operator within the system.

13. Attendant Locked Loop Operation: The ATT supervises calls between the station line and the external line by pressing AC or K key, followed by SP (or End) key. The ATT can cancel the supervision by pressing CKT button and the HOLD button. 14. Attendant Busy Override: The operator on calling busy station can select to break into the conversation to announce an urgent message by pressing OFRL key. 15. Abbreviated Dialling: The Operator can access frequently called destinations registered in the abbreviated dialling area by depressing the ORG and AD keys and then keying the Route number (2 or 3 digits). The system will seize the trunk according to the number stored and automatically send out the stored digits (in PB or DP) depending -upon the trunk seized. 16. Attendant Registration of Abbreviated Dialling: The Operator can register frequently called C.O line into the abbreviated dialling area. The abbreviated dialling number stored in the system can be changed or cancelled by the operator.

17. Individual Trunk Access: The Operator can seize a specific C.O line by pressing the MK key followed by dialling the trunk number from the Sender Key Pad.. 18. One-Touch Calling: The Operator can access the frequently called station by a button corresponding to that station using One-Touch call box installed (optional) instead of keying from the sender key board. 19. Call Advance: The Operator on calling busy station can select to advance to another station by dialling the last digit of the station number 20. Answer Priorities: The Operator can use answer key (ANS) for answering to all types of incoming calls. 21. Automatic Recall: Calls (Camp-On busy, Camp-On ringing and call on hold) left unattended after the predefined time will automatically recall the operator. 22. Call Queuing Incoming Trunk: Incoming call to the ATT console will be queued and answered according to the incoming order. (First in First Out). 23. Charge Information call answering: This feature allows an attendant to obtain call charge information from the C.O exchange operators 24. Voice Paging Access: The operator once holds a calling party e.g. C.O. line, tie line, or a station by key operation and calls on absent station user by a speaker. When the called Party answers, transfer connection is done. 25. Call Forwarding Registration: The operation can register or cancel station call forwarding from one station to another. 26. Tie Trunk Access: Tie line calls can be originated and are terminated at the ATT.

27. Station Busy Display: When calling a busy station, the busy status is indicated in the ATT. 28. Incoming Call Type Display: The different types of call terminations to the ATT indicated in the display panel of the ATT. 29. Recall Type Display: Different types of automatic recall can be distinguished at the display panel. 30. Station Number and Class Of Service Display: The station together with its class of service are displayed in the panel. 31. Trunk Number and Type Display: The type and number of trunk connected to the MT is indicated in the display panel. 32. Call Charge Display: The Operator can obtain call charge information by pressing the X key before transferring a C.O line call, to a station. At the end of call connection the operator is recalled and call charge information is displayed. 33. Trunk Group Busy Display: The operator can determine the types of trunks that are busy from the trunk group busy panel. 34. ATT. Waiting call indication: Incoming C.0 calls waiting for an answer are indicated in the

35. Line Lock Out Indication: When the station is locked out because the handset is left off hook, the lock out lamps of all ATTs in the same tenant are lit. 36. Mis-dial display: When the Operator misdial a number, "MC" is displayed and RL lamp flashes. 37. System Alarm Indication: System failure will be indicated in the ATT as well as in other alarm terminals. 38. Digital Clock. This feature display time on the ATT.

39. Ringing Volume Control: The Volume of the audible tone to indicate incoming call or automatic recall at the ATT, can be adjusted by the Volume Control Knob located in the ATT console. 40. Attendant Monitor: The handset can be inserted into the left hand side or right hand side jacks of the ATT console. One side can be used for training and monitor and the other side for functional operation of ATT. 41. Attendant Call Recording: This feature allows a cassette recorder to be connected to the ATT to record calls. 42. Monitoring: This feature allows the attendant to monitor a call from the ATT.

43) Camp - On Message: When ATT is disengaged by camp-on ringing or camp-on busy after MSG key operation, a station user can talk with C.O. line after getting the message. 44. DTMF Signal End To End Sending: This allows the attendant to send PB signals through the ATT key pad while connected to the C.O. line. 45. Station Busy Lamp Field: The busy lamp field on the ATT or One Touch call box indicates whether selected stations are busy or idle. 46. Attendant Hold-Tone Sending: During 2 way splitting, the holding tone is sent to the party which is not connected to the ATT. 47. Last Number Redial: The last dialled number of C.O. or tie line user is stored in memory. The operator can automatically re-send the same number by dialling special code. 48. Trunk Forced Release: The attendant can freely release the C.O. trunk, which is connected to a station, by key operation. 49. Don't Disturb: The don't disturb of terminating calls to the station can be registered from the ATT released and forced call. 50. Distributed Hunting: When a call is terminated to the pilot number of a hunting group, the called station can be called uniformly in these hunting group. 51. Circular Hunting: When calling any busy station of a circular hunting group the system will automatically hunt for the next free station of the group in a pre-set order. 52. Variable Hunting Method by the type of call: The hunting method can be changed to enable hunting for each type of call. 53. Automatic Call Back: When calling a busy station, a station user can select to camp-on to the busy station and replace his handset. When the busy station becomes free,

both the calling and the called station are rung and will be connected to each other when they answer. 54. Station Busy Override: The station user, on calling a busy station, can override the conversation by sending an override Warning tone. This enables 3-party conference among calling party called party and the other party for the called party. 55. Call Waiting: When calling a busy station, the calling party can select the call waiting feature by dialling the call waiting code. The called party, on hearing the call waiting code, can place the other party (Whom he is talking to) on Hold by hook flashing and is automatically connected to the calling party. The called party can subsequently switch between the other party and calling party by flash hooking. 56. Call Advance: When calling a busy station, a station user can call another station by dialling the last digit of the station number or special code + last digit of the station number. 57. Station Camp-On Busy: When transferring a call from the one party to another, the station user can transfer it by dialling or key operation, even if the station to be transferred is busy. 58. Attendant Busy Override Restriction: This feature inhibits service override from the Attendant Console. 59. Improvement of do not disturb function: This feature temporarily prohibits all terminating calls when a special number is dialled from station to Attendant Console. 60. Station group to group restriction: Extensions are classified into groups (close area groups), and the connections to the extensions from other than the groups are restricted. 61. Re-order Tone: This tone is sent if the station user dials a wrong number.

62. Service Dial Tone: The station user will hear the service dial tone after flash hooking. 63. Howler Tone Alert (Auto): Howler tone is sent to the station user whose handset is misplaced. 64. Vacant Number Intercept: Re-order tone is sent when the station user dials nonregistered number. Voice guidance is available instead of re-order tone. 65. 66. Voice guidance: Voice messages are sent as required. Holding Tone Service: Musical holding tone is sent to the party placed on hold.

67. Pre-information Tone Service: Pre information tones are sent to the station user who has originated a C.0 call. It serves as a warning signal indicating that the three minutes block charge rate is ending soon.
