Teenage Pregnancy

I want to begin my study about teenage pregnancy in its earliest form. I want to convey a series of questions that can pour out some observations and ideas that I had before, from my surroundings, things that Ive read in newspapers, magazines and books etc., things that Ive watched from television news, things that Ive heard from people, and of course one of the most famous modem or tool to absorb information in our time, the internet. From these forms of gathering information this would be a good help for me. First, I want to ask, what are the causes of teenage pregnancy? When is the teenage pregnancy start? Why there is a teenage pregnancy? How to avoid it? Where or to whom should the solution start to avoid teenagers to get pregnant? What is the effect of teenage pregnancy for a young individual and to our society? From here Im going to start my work. First thing is the causes. One of that causes is our society nowadays are erroneously exposed to a sea of pornography. This is one of the leading factors and reasons that are affecting not only the minds but through the way teenagers live in our generation. You can see that almost everywhere you can buy porn films and not only that, you can also access or acquire porn movies in the internet just a click of a botton, or you might be surprised if one of your friends possesses in his cell phone a video of a couple having a private and intimate moments together in certain place or sometimes in an awkward place, that he or she are willingly want to share. Furthermore that I want to add is the peer pressure. There is a notion in the midst of teenagers that being a virgin is a shame. And if you are in your senior years in high school you will be mocked by your peers for being a virgin. That is why teenagers are compelled by that notion to get a partner that is willingly could give him or her a sexual experience and putting themselves out of being tease of their peers, and could give her/him a status of belonging to a certain group of teens. Women exposed to abuse, domestic violence, and family strife in childhood are more to become pregnant as teenagers, and the risk of becoming pregnant as a teenager increases with

the number of adverse childhood experiences.

Family dysfunction has enduring and

unfavorable health consequences for women during the adolescent years. And I want also to add that boys rose in homes with a battered mother, or who experienced physical violence directly, were significantly more likely to impregnate a girl. There is also one factor that could lead teenagers to engage in sex that would result to getting pregnant. Inhibition-reducing drugs and alcohol may possibly encourage unintended sexual activity. Because of drugs and alcoholic beverages, teenagers under influence of it cannot control themselves and with less inhibition of what they are doing they are always end up waking up and realizing they already give up themselves to somebody they barely know. In this kind of ways that our society is living, specially our youths, and no one is going to do something or pose a solution that can eradicate or put an end to this cancer, you would easily imagine that more and more teenagers that in a very young age would engaged to a sexual relation and end up facing unplanned pregnancy as a result. When teenage pregnancy starts? Females under the age of 20 are considered as teens. A pregnancy can take place before a girl experience menstrual period which signals the possibility of fertility, but usually occurs after menstrual period in a healthy, well-nourished girls, normally takes place around the ages 12 or 13. What are the effects of teenage pregnancy? Pregnant teenagers face a lot of medical concerns than that of a woman of their 20s and up, perhaps due to their young and under-developed bodies. And more problems arise if your socioeconomic status is low. Teenage pregnancies are associated with many social issue, that include lower educational levels, higher chance of poverty and other poorer outcomes in children of teenage mothers. In our religious community and cultures teenage pregnancy out of wedlock is a shame and carries a social stigma.

Being a young mother in a considered third world country like ours can affect severely to ones education, teen mothers are more likely to drop out of high school prior to becoming pregnant. Even for employment, if a woman fails to complete her high school reduces her

chances for getting employed considering that employment in our country is of high competition. So more likely to young mothers end up getting a hard time thinking where they can get support or how they will provide for their young, mostly they are relying for their family. Many teen parents do not have the intellectual or emotional maturity that is needed to provide for another life. Often, these pregnancies are hidden for months resulting in a lack of adequate prenatal care and dangerous outcomes can expect for the babies. Factors that determine which mothers are more likely to have a closely spaced repeat birth include marriage and education the likelihood decreases with the level of education of the young woman or her parents and increases if she gets married. And one study shows that teen mothers are more likely to have second birth before she reaches the age of 20. Early motherhood can affect the psychosocial development of the infant. This is the study of changes that occur in human beings over the course of their lifespan, originally concerned with infants and children. The children of teen mothers are more likely to be born prematurely with a low birth weight, predisposing them to many other lifelong conditions. The hardships do not stop at birth for these children. The children are at higher risk and are usually plagued by intellectual, language, and socio-emotional delays. Development of mental disabilities and behavioral issues are increased in children born to teen mothers. Teen pregnancy and motherhood can influence younger siblings. One study found that the younger sisters of teen mothers were less likely to emphasize the importance of education and employment and more likely to accept human sexual behavior, parenting and marriage at younger ages ; younger brothers, too, were found to be more tolerant of non-marital relations and early births, in additions to more susceptible to high-risk behavior. If the younger sisters of teenage parents babysit the children, they have an increase risk of getting pregnant themselves. Now weve come to the solutions. Many health educators have argued that comprehensive sex education would effectively reduce the number of teenage pregnancies, although opponents argue that such education encourages more and earlier sexual activity. To whom you are

sided? For me, sex education is important because for this we will learn the many aspects of teenage pregnancies and we will be more aware of cause and outcomes if we are to put set to the test. You will be aware how to handle yourself, how to say no, or avoid caught up with it by avoiding it before hand. Adolescents may lack knowledge of, or access to, conventional methods of preventing pregnancy, as they may be too embarrassed or frightened to seek such information. Contraception for teenagers present a huge challenge. Young women often think of

contraception either as the pill or condoms and have little knowledge about other methods. They are heavily influenced by negative, second-hand stories about method of contraception from their friends and the media. Prejudices are extremely difficult to overcome. Over concern about side effects, for example, weight gain and acne, often affect choice, so, we should have comprehensive learning tools to reach out to our community specially to our teens. But with that being said, I also support for Reproductive Health Bill. Because of this program we will have protection and a choice, its not because you are not a prolife, but you want to sustain a healthy, safe, productive lifestyle and environment. This is not for only one individual but also for the sake of our countries development. For this, there should have a proper learning to reach out for our teens. And also, first and foremost, the learning process should start within the family. Parents should guide and always teach their children the importance of being moral and self preserve individuals. And guide them all the way through their adolescent years. Parents should not be content by just sending their children to school or just by sending money for them to use. The parents should be adamant to protect and always monitor their children activity as far as the welfare of their children are concern. And, as well known Christian nation country, we, specially teenagers, should have a fear in God and always abide and walk ourselves to a right path of life. We all should keep in our minds, that just in an instantone blink of an eye, your decisions is going to change your life, whether its for the good or bad. Our Creator gave us the wisdom to choose what is the path for a good life and what is the road to perdition, not only that He gave

us wisdom, He even direct us what path to choose. Perhaps, Im sounding like a religious person, but, what else should we turn in to, if we dont believe in something! We all know for a fact, that our country has a zooming population, and we all should work hand in hand and work hard together with all private sectors and the government agencies to avoid or at least lessen for our country to be poorer. We know that we will not expect that to happen in just a day. But with a proper push and implementation we will reach the attainment of our goal and that is for a better and bright future.
