Introduction:

Trees are cut down due to lack of space in the city. People cut down trees to make spaces for the houses and buildings. But, people cut down trees too much, that causes deforestation. And cutting trees also lessen the amount of oxygen we breathe in. Because of this problem, this study was conducted by using gelatin and paper, to test if the mung seeds will grow in paper and gelatin, and to test where the mung seeds grow faster. Because of the lack of space in the city we used mung seeds instead of a tree in making this experiment. Mung bean, commonly known as mongo, is the cheapest source of vegetable protein. It is rich in vitamins, calcium, and sodium. It is very abundant and fast growing. Paper is a thin material mainly used for writing upon, printing upon, drawing or for packaging. It is produced by pressing together moist fibers, typically cellulose pulp derived from wood, rags or grasses, and drying them into flexible sheets. Paper is a versatile material with many uses. Whilst the most common is for writing and printing upon, it is also widely used as a packaging material, in many cleaning products, in a number of industrial and construction processes, and even as a food ingredient particularly in Asian cultures.

Gelatin is a translucent, colorless, brittle, flavorless solid substance, derived from collagen obtained from various animal by-products. It is commonly used as a gelling agent in food, pharmaceuticals, photography, and cosmetic manufacturing. Substances containing gelatin or functioning in a similar way are called gelatinous. We can benefit from this experiment by increasing the amount of oxygen we breathe in, and to make our surrounding fresh and cool, even though were living in the city.

Abstract:

Trees play a very important role in our life. We cant live without them. Trees give us food and medicine. We need them for oxygen. Trees also help to control pollution. They absorb carbon dioxide. So, what if trees would be extinct? People will die without trees because no one will give us oxygen. So, we used mung seeds in this experiment as an alternative for a tree. We also used gelatin and paper in this experiment. We conducted this experiment to test where the mung seeds grow faster and to test if the mung seeds will grow in paper and gelatin. There are 3 experimentations made to find out the answer. Experimentation A: mung seeds in paper, experimentation B: mung seeds in gelatin, and experimentation C: mung seeds in water. We made the experiment by soaking the paper in water then putting it in a container. Then, we placed the mung seeds in the paper for ,experimentation A. Cook or make a gelatin and put it in a container. Then, put the mung seeds in the gelatin then water it, for experimentation B. Put the mung seeds in a container, then, add water, for experimentation C. Place them under the heat of the sun. Observe them for 5 days then water them every day. The mung seeds placed in the paper grew fast within 5 days. The mung seeds placed in the gelatin, only showed the roots of the mung seeds. And the mung seeds placed in the water, also showed the roots of the mung seeds. And we concluded that the mung seeds placed in the paper grew faster than the mung seeds placed in the gelatin.
