COURSE TENURE TENABLE

: First Degree in Arts, Education, Economics or Accounts : 2-4 years : At the University of the West Indies Mona Campus or University of Technology . : Tuition Fee : Candidates should be: (a) Jamaican Nationals (b) Desirous of pursuing a first degree in Arts, Education, Economics or Accounts.

VALUE ELIGIBILITY

CONDITIONS OF AWARD: (a) All scholarships are tenable at the University of the West Indies, Mona or University of Technology. (b) (c) All applicants should have been accepted at one of the above mentioned institution. Successful candidates will be bonded to teach in a government owned educational institution for three (3) years. The scholarship award is valid for the academic year immediately following the offer of the award and cannot be deferred for any reason.

Covers tuition fees, Maintenance and Book Allowance Candidates should:(1) be sitting the C.A.P.E. or the Cambridge A Level examination in at least three subjects and General Paper in June. was born in Jamaica or born overseas of parents who are Jamaican citizens or has been domiciled in Jamaica during the five years prior to the award, but short periods of absence from Jamaica shall be disregarded have resided in Jamaica for a period of at least five years immediately preceding the examination. In the case of the Jamaica Centenary Scholarship applicant (Male/Female) must submit a certificate showing that he/she has attended a public primary (Infant school excluded) for at least three years. The 2013/2014 awardee will be a female.

(The seven (7) Jamaica Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis to candidates whose performance was most outstanding in the G.C.E. ALevel Examinations or C.A.P.E.)

JAMAICA TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP (OPEN)

: Diploma or First Degree : Three (3) years : At the University of Technology : Covers tuition fees and book allowance : Candidates should:(a) be sitting at least five (5) subjects in the CXC/GCE OLevel Examination, two of which should be English and Mathematics. be a full-time student of a Technical High School.

CONDITIONS OF AWARD: Applicants should apply directly to the University of Technology for admission. (a) Successful candidates will be bonded to work in Jamaica for a period not exceeding five (5) years. The scholarship is valid for the academic year immediately following the offer of the award and cannot be deferred for any reason.

MATHEMATICS/SCIENCE WITH EDUCATION

Three (3) years At the University of the West Indies or the University of Technology Tuition Fee, Maintenance of thirty five thousand ($35,000.00) and a book allowance of fifteen thousand ($15,000.00)

ELIGIBILITY

: Candidates must be graduates of secondary schools, community colleges or have pursued the double option Math/Science programme in the teachers colleges and must either: (a) have obtained passes in five (5) subject at CXC (General Proficiency or equivalent) including English (A), Mathematics and two (2) approved Science subject; or in the CAPE/A level examinations be pursuing a similar programme of study at U.W.I./ U-Tech

CONDITIONS OF THE AWARD: (a) All scholarships are tenable at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus/ University of Technology (b) All applicants should have been accepted at University of the West Indies, Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences (Majoring in Maths or Science with a minor in Education) or the Faculty of Health and Applied Science and Education at the University of Technology (c) Successful candidates will be bonded to teach in Government-owned institutions for at least three (3) years.

Candidates will be required to enter into a bond to teach at a school in St. Thomas for not less than three years. Candidates shall not simultaneously hold any other awards.
