Ali Baba and The Forty Thieves Once there were two brothers named Kasm and Ali

Baba. They were orphans and very poor. The years passed and the boys grew older. Kasm married a rich woman. Kasm became a rich man. Ali Baba got married too, but his wife had no money. Ali Baba everyday took his three little donkeys and went to work in the woods. One day he was tired and he sat near the tree. Then he heard sound of the horses. He don't knew who that be. And he looked and saw forty men on horseback. Ali Baba climbed a tree. Then the leader of the men said "Stop this place" Every horse had a big bag. The leader walked over to a big rock and he cried "Open sesame!". Suddenly a door in the rock slowly opened. One by one the forty men went into the cave. The leader of the men cried "Close sesame!" The rock door closed. Ali Baba was afraid and suprised. then he thought, "Who are they?" , "Are they thieves?" , "What is in the bags?" , "What is in the cave?". At that time the rock moved again. One by one the forty men came out of the cave. Their bags were empty. Ali baba went over to the rock. He said "Open sesame!" and the rock door opened. He went into the cave. Then he was very surprised. Because, he saw a lot of golds, silvers, silks and jewels. He picked up three bags of gold and went out of the cave. Ali Baba covered the bag swith wood in his donkeys. Then he went to his wife. When he came to home he unload the golds. He told her about the forty thieves and the cave. His wife asked "How much money have we got?" Their needed too long cup for count the gold coins. Ali Baba's wife ran to Kasm's house. She said "I want to measure some flour. Please give me cup". Kasm's wife thought "Ali Baba's wife doesn't have much flour. "Kasm's wife put a little wax on the bottom of a cup. Then she gave the cup to Ali Baba's wife.

When she came to home she and Ali Baba measured the gold with the cup. They were rich. She returned the cup. When she gave the cup to Kasm's wife she saw a gold coin in the wax at the bottom of the cup. Kasm was very angry. He was jealous of his brother. The next day he went to his brother's house. Ali Baba told Kasm about the forty thieves and the cave. He told Kasm about the magic words " Open sesame" and "Close sesame". Next day he had eight horses with him. He said "Open sesame". The door opened. When he entered the cave he saw the gold, silver, silk and jewels. He pulled eight big bags of gold to the door. Kasm tried open the door but he forgot magic words. Some hours passed. The forty thieves came back to the cave. The thieves caught him. They kicked him. They tied his arms, legs and left him in a corner of the cave. That night Kasm didn't come home. His wife was afraid. She went to Kasm's house. Ali Baba took one of his donkeys and went to the cave. He found Kasm. Ali Baba and his wife went to Kasm's house everyday. Kasm didn't get well. There was a maid in Kasm's house. Her name was Kerime. She was very clever. Ali Baba gave Kerime some money. Early the next morning she went to the shoemaker's shop. When she went to shoemaker she said "Please come to our house". Then she covered his eyes and took him to Kasm's house. They went to into Kasm's bedroom. The shoemaker opened his eyes and looked at Kasm. He tried to help Kasm. He stayed with Kasm for many hours. And then he said "This man going to die. Then she covered again his eyes. They went to his shop. Three days passed. Kasm died. Next day Ali Baba and his wife went to live with Kasm's wife.

Ali Baba's son Mahmut, went to work in Kasm's shop. Some days later thieves came back to the cave but they didn't see Kasm. One of the thieves said "I shall find the person". Then he went to the shoemaker's home. The thief covered his eyes. Old man try to found the house. Then they came to Kasm's house. A thief put a big white cross on the door. Then he went back to the cave. Next morning Kerime saw the white cross. Then she put the white crosses on all doors on the street. Then the leader and three men came to the street but they didn't find Kasm's house. The leader was very angry. He said "Buy thirty-eight jars and nineteen mules. Fill one of the jars with oil. Leave the other jars empty because you will hide in the jars". The next day leader with thirty-eight jars and nineteen donkeys went to Ali Baba's house. They will stay Ali Baba's house. Ali Baba accepted. He and leader of the thieves took the jars off the mules. The leader left the jars in the garden. Then he had dinner with Ali Baba. Kerime needed some oil for her lamp but there was no oil in the kitchen. She wanted to the first jar. A voice came from inside. She surprised. She went to the jars, one by one. Each time she heard a voice. The last jar had some oil in it. Then she poured hot oil into each of the jars. She killed all of the thieves. At midnight the leader of the thieves went into the garden but he didn't see thieves because they were dead. He jumped on his horse and rode away quickly. Kerime told Ali Baba about everything. The leader of the thieves bought a shop. His shop was near the shop of Mahmut, Ali Baba's son. A long time passed. One day Mahmut called Kasm for had dinner. The leader went to dinner at Ali baba's house. He didn't remember the leader's face but Kerime did. After dinner Kerime danced. Kerime saw a knife under the thief's coat. Suddenly she quickly took the knife from the thief and

killed him. Ali Baba suprised. Kerime told him about the thief. Ali Baba was very happy. Mahmut and Kerime were married. They all lived a long and happy life.
