THE ANTITYPICAL ELIJAH THE TISHBITE

(Special Edition)
Of all the subjects in the Rod, this one is the most controversial. Although, I am not surprised at what they are doing at the present time, for the same spirit doing the same thing in the days of V.T. Houteff. Inspiration declared Still further, this class of people who suppose that their questionings and cavilings are a mark of intelligence are like the Jews of old -- they acknowledge the Inspiration of the prophets as does Brother B of Sister Whites by calling her work The Spirit of Prophecy. The Jews confessed that the writings of the prophets who had preceded their generation and who were rejected and killed by their fathers contained the Word of God, and that their writings had to be respected and obeyed, but the prophets that arose in person to reprove them of their own evil deeds or correct their errors which they themselves had embodied from uninspired men, they were not willing to accept! Thus it was in the pre-Bible period, thus it was in the Old Testament period; thus it has been since the beginning of the New to this very day. So, those who thought their doubtings, questionings, and cavilings were a mark of intelligence, the above experiences prove that they were only a mark of ignorance. Therefore, though Bro. B., as a somnambulist, is headed toward the same pit, we hope that he will, before walking into it, awake by the sound of these disastrous, historical, and ever-occurring mistakes and thus escape the danger of this long active trap. (2 SC 3, 4:11) Of Mosess writings the Jews made a mighty weapon against Christ and the prophets of that day. (1 TG 15:6) The old cry is repeated, We know that God spake unto Moses (Houteff); as for this fellow [Christ in the messenger He sends], we know not from whence he is. (COL 79; 2 TG 39:2) Those who oppose the Inspiration of V.T. Houteff, they hypocritically magnify and lifted up E.G. White as the last prophet, and deeply convinced the people that such calling of E.G. White needs be seriously guarded and protected. Let us read TM 534, 535 PAGE 475. SOMEBODY IS TO COME IN THE SPIRIT AND POWER OF ELIJAH: THESE WORDS HAVE BEEN MISTAKENLY APPLIED BY SOME TO SOME INDIVIDUAL WHO IT WAS THOUGHT WOULD APPEAR WITH A PROPHETIC MESSAGE SUBSEQUENT TO MRS. WHITES LIFE AND WORK. THE THREE PARAGRAPHS COMPRISING THIS ARTICLE TITLED LET HEAVEN GUIDE ARE ONLY A SMALL PORTION OF A TALK GIVEN BY ELLEN WHITE IN BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN, THE MORNING OF JANUARY 29, 1890. AS THIS WAS PUBLISHED IN THE REVIEW AND HERALD OF FEBRUARY 18, 1890, IT CARRIED THE TITLE OF HOW TO MEET A CONTROVERTED POINT OF DOCTRINE. OTHER EXCERPTS DRAWN FROM THIS ARTICLE AND USED LARGELY TO FILL OUT CERTAIN PAGES OF THIS VOLUME, MAY BE FOUND ON PAGES 23, 104, 111, 119, 158, 278, AND 386. THE ARTICLE HAS BEEN REPRODUCED IN ITS ENTIRETY IN SELECTED MESSAGES, BOOK 1, PAGES 406-416, WITH THE PORTION COMPRISING THE EXCERPT ENTITLED LET HEAVEN GUIDE APPEARING ON PAGES 412 AND 413. WHEN THE ARTICLE IS READ IN ITS ENTIRETY IT BECOMES APPARENT THAT ELLEN WHITE, IN THIS STATEMENT MADE JUST A LITTLE MORE THAN A YEAR AFTER THE MINNEAPOLIS CONFERENCE TO A GROUP IN BATTLE CREEK, WAS SPEAKING OF HER OWN MINISTRY. SOME HAD GROWN CRITICAL OF HER WORK. NOTE THAT IN THE PARAGRAPH PRECEDING THAT WHICH APPEARS IN THIS VOLUME ON PAGE 475, ELLEN WHITE STATES: WE SHOULD COME INTO A POSITION WHERE EVERY DIFFERENCE WILL BE MELTED AWAY. IF I THINK I HAVE LIGHT, I SHALL DO MY DUTY IN PRESENTING IT. SUPPOSE I CONSULTED OTHERS CONCERNING THE MESSAGE THE LORD WOULD HAVE ME GIVE TO THE PEOPLE, THE DOOR MIGHT BE CLOSED SO THAT THE LIGHT MIGHT NOT REACH THE ONES TO WHOM GOD HAD SENT IT. WHEN JESUS RODE INTO JERUSALEM, `THE WHOLE MULTITUDE OF THE DISCIPLES BEGAN TO REJOICE AND PRAISE GOD WITH A LOUD VOICE FOR ALL THE MIGHTY WORKS THAT THEY HAD SEEN; SAYING, BLESSED BE THE KING THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD: PEACE IN HEAVEN, AND GLORY IN THE HIGHEST. AND SOME OF THE PHARISEES FROM AMONG THE MULTITUDE SAID UNTO HIM, MASTER, REBUKE THY DISCIPLES. AND HE ANSWERED AND

SAID UNTO THEM, I TELL YOU THAT, IF THESE SHOULD HOLD THEIR PEACE, THE STONES WOULD IMMEDIATELY CRY OUT (LUKE 19:37-40). THE JEWS TRIED TO STOP THE PROCLAMATION OF THE MESSAGE THAT HAD BEEN PREDICTED IN THE WORD OF GOD. THEN SHE MAKES REFERENCE AGAIN TO HER OWN EXPERIENCE: PROPHECY MUST BE FULFILLED. THE LORD SAYS, `BEHOLD, I WILL SEND YOU ELIJAH THE PROPHET BEFORE THE COMING OF THE GREAT AND DREADFUL DAY OF THE LORD (MALACHI 4:5). SOMEBODY IS TO COME IN THE SPIRIT AND POWER OF ELIJAH, AND WHEN HE APPEARS, MEN MAY SAY, `YOU ARE TOO EARNEST, YOU DO NOT INTERPRET THE SCRIPTURES IN THE PROPER WAY.-- SELECTED MESSAGES, B. 1, P. 412. THAT SHE WAS REFERRING TO HER OWN EXPERIENCE IS ALSO MADE CLEAR FROM THE PARAGRAPH WHICH FOLLOWS, IN WHICH SHE DECLARES: I SHALL TELL THE TRUTH AS GOD GIVES IT TO ME. . . . (TM 534, 535) The SDA church applied TM 475, as have been fulfilled to E.G. Whites life and work. The same as The Jews, according to their own way of reasoning, were honest, though blind, in concluding that they had no need of prophets, because as they saw it, Moses writings were complete, there was nothing lacking in them: They contained both the civil and religious laws. They, therefore, saw no need for greater light and no need of another prophet. Through their unbelief in the prophets, they failed to see that their kingdom was only a type of a greater one to come, they failed to see that Gods Truth is progressive and ever unfolding, that each generation has to have added Truth especially adapted to meet their particular needs. Their blindness to this was their basic sin that led them on to ruin. (1 TG 15:4) The SROD declared clearly, that to declare something although the prophet himself has not said so, then not to know for a certainty that such are not working for the God of Elijah, but for the devil, is Laodiceanism of the worst kind. (GCS page 23) For example, TM 475, the SDA church declared that it was fulfilled in E.G. Whites life and work, although the prophet herself does not said so they are working for the Devil, and Laodiceanism of the worst kind. The SROD admonished us, that we must consider the use of the Biblical past and present tense. This grammatical rule is followed in the Scriptures, and it is one way to recognize present Truth. (2 SR 118) The same rule is to be observed in all Bible truths to establish authoritatively a particular prophetic time. (1 SR 240) The Scripture being grammatically incorrect of the application proves that the time for this chapter was not yet ripe, the same as other scriptures and prophecies. It could not be understood, nor correctly applied until the time appointed. Then God reveals His Word to His people in the manner He will choose, but it may come in an unexpected way. (1 SR 162) Now, let us read again GCS 23 What is more, should God send another than Elijah, that is, someone with a message other than of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, he will not claim to be the Elijah, he will not lie. Hence, for anyone to make the claim that he is the Elijah, but bear another message than that of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, is in itself positive proof that he is not a prophet of God at all, but a rank imposter. And if any should tell you that a former prophet has fulfilled the promise, although the prophet himself has not said so, then not to know for a certainty that such are not working for the God of Elijah, but for the devil, is Laodiceanism of the worst kind. (GCS 23) The subject is concerning antitypical Elijah. But the statement And if any should tell you that a former prophet has fulfilled the promise, although the prophet himself has not said so, then not to know for a certainty that such are not working for the God of Elijah, but for the devil, is Laodiceanism of the worst kind. We applied such warning to the SDA church, that applied the prophecy concerning Elijah to E.G. White, although the prophet herself does not said so. But if you strictly observed the grammatical rule, such reading cannot be applied to E.G. White, seeing that the gender used by Inspiration is masculine, saying although the prophet himself

has not said so. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we need to always ever remember, that the original author of the SROD is not V.T. Houteff, but the Holy Spirit (3 Ans. 33). V.T. Houteff, the same with all the writers of the Bible, they were just a penmen of the Holy Ghost. (1 SM 21) Inspiration declared: GC 344 Even the prophets who were favored with the special illumination of the Spirit did not fully comprehend the import of the revelations committed to them. The meaning was to be unfolded from age to age, as the people of God should need the instruction therein contained. (GC 344) Inspiration is perfect in every respect, and faultless in revealing the truth intended (2 SR 68). Accordingly, as every letter, word, and phrase of a sentence has its appointed part to play in giving coherent expression to the thought intended, just so has every scripture its appointed part in unfolding Bible truths. When each is carefully joined in its right relation in the picture of revealed truth, one leading on to and illuminating another, the great over-all design stands out in all the solemn majesty of its mountainous finality and grandeur. (5 TR 36) Therefore, the original author of the SROD, the Holy Spirit permitted his penman to have such statement be written to portray our present condition. Thus by Scripture and by logic of facts we are carried to the peak of evidence and of conviction, that such statement is definitely applied to the DSDA by applying antitypical Elijah The Tishbite to V.T. Houteff, although the prophet himself has not said so. Inspiration declared clearly And if any should tell you that a former prophet has fulfilled the promise, although the prophet himself has not said so, then not to know for a certainty that such are not working for the God of Elijah, but for the devil, is Laodiceanism of the worst kind. (GCS 23) History repeats of Itself. The SDA church applied TM 475 to E.G. White although the prophet herself has not said so. The DSDA organization applied antitypical Elijah the Tishbite to V.T. Houteff, although the prophet himself has not said so. But the absolute fact is, the prediction in GCS page 23, cannot be applied to the SDA church, for the gender used by Inspiration is masculine, saying the prophet himself has not said so. But the same as the SDA church, they applied TM 475 to E.G. White for according to them it was definitely implied, the same with Davidia. Inspiration declared: 3 SC 3, 4:13 Do not follow ideas which stand upon implications, upon enlargements, upon diminishings, of the meaning of authoritative statements. Says Christ: If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life. (Rev. 22:18, 19). (3 SC 3, 4:13) The trouble does not lie in the statements themselves, but rather in mans limited knowledge of the truth therein contained. (1 SC 4:5) For example, they will quote 9 JL 1, 2 Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: and the Lord, Whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. Mal. 3:1. The promise here is that the Lord will send a messenger, and as the fourth chapter of Malachi is but a continuation of the story in the third, we are there told that the messenger is antitypical Elijah (Mal. 4:5), the one who is to restore all things (Matt. 17:11) and Inspiration of a later addition, and in a special message to the Seventh-day Adventist ministry warns: Prophecy must be fulfilled. The Lord says: Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Somebody is to come in the spirit and power of Elijah, and when he appears, men may say: You are too earnest, you do not interpret the Scriptures in the proper way. Let me tell you how to teach your message. -- Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 475, 476. There are two main points to note in these quotations: (1) that the message and messenger here mentioned are the very last; (2) that they are to restore all things; (3) that there is danger for some to make fools of themselves

by daring to tell him how to teach his message -- assuming to take Gods place! (9 JL 1, 2) The statement is absolutely perfect. But the fact is, V.T. Houteff himself never said so that the very last messenger here mentioned is he of himself. If we declared, it is implied, then V.T Houteff declared Do not follow ideas which stand upon implications (3 SC 3, 4:13) The protestant world openly declared that SDA particularly to E.G. White erroneously applied Rev. 10:9, 10 to William Miller, for according to them the Bible is very plain, John the Revelator of himself is the one who did ate the book. The SDA as well declared Then she makes reference again to her own experience: Prophecy must be fulfilled. The Lord says, `Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord (Malachi 4:5). Somebody is to come in the Spirit and power of Elijah, and when he appears, men may say, You are too earnest, you do not interpret the Scriptures in the proper way.(TM 535). And then openly declared: These words (TM 475) have been mistakenly applied by some to some individual who it was thought would appear with a prophetic message subsequent to Mrs. Whites life and work. (TM 534) They continually declared TM 534, 535 When the article is read in its entirety it becomes apparent that Ellen White, in this statement made just a little more than a year after the Minneapolis Conference to a group in Battle Creek, was speaking of her own ministry. Some had grown critical of her work. Note that in the paragraph preceding that which appears in this volume on page 475, Ellen White states: We should come into a position where every difference will be melted away. If I think I have a light, I shall do my duty in presenting it. Suppose I consulted others concerning the message the Lord would have me give to the people, the door might be closed so that the light might not reach the ones to whom God had sent it. When Jesus rode into Jerusalem, the whole multitude of The disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; saying, Blessed be the king that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto Him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And He answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out (Luke 19:37-40). The Jews tried to stop the proclamation of the message that had been predicted in the word of God. Then she makes reference again to her own experience: Prophecy must be fulfilled. The Lord says, Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord (Malachi 4:5). Somebody is to come in the spirit and power of Elijah, and when he appears, men may say, you are too earnest, you do not interpret the Scriptures in the proper way. Selected Messages, B 1, p. 412. That she was referring to her own experience is also made clear from the paragraph which follows, in which she declares: I shall tell the truth as God gives it to me (TM 534, 535) Now, the questions areAre these people who declared such thing not professionals? Are they not English professors and teachers? Are they not Theologians who master hermeneutic terminology? Are they not professional grammarian? Are we wiser than they? Then why not accept their interpretation of such passage, tell me the reason? And accept the interpretation of V.T. Houteff, which according to them (SDA) declared 3 SC 8-10:6 What could a man do with a third or fourth grade education? (3 SC 8-10:6) These Inspiration doubters of today, if they were living in the days of V.T. Houteff, they will be among those who assail and bitterly oppose the message of V.T. Houteff as being inspired. The SROD declared 3 SC 1:9 A conclusion which is based upon a single citation, though the passage be ever so plain, but which conclusion can not be harmonized with every other authoritative statement on the same subject, is not a safe and honest rule of interpretation. (3 SC 1:9) No candid Bible student could from the above statement arrive at any conclusion which would lead him to base his interpretation of the subject on one scripture and wholly ignore the other, but would rather seek to make his final analysis in such a way as to be in perfect harmony with all inspired writings or else confess that he does not have the light on the Scriptures. (1 SC 10:8)

Let us remember always to observe the inviolable rule that an interpretation of one inspired statement must harmonize with all other related statements. (3 Ans. 41) For example, let us read 2 TG 41:7, 8 Moreover, Amos by the eye of Inspiration looked down through the centuries, deep into the Christian era, and declared: Amos 1:2 The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither. This scripture, you see, reflects the tragedy which took place on the top of Carmel in the days of Elijah. Here we are given the hint that there is to be another show-down between the prophet of God and the prophets of Baal. The prophets of Baal in our day even boast that they are not inspired, that what they teach and preach is what they themselves discovered by deep study and research! They even sneer at those who claim to be inspired of the Lord! They seem to think that God has forsaken the earth; that He cares not to send His Spirit as in former time; that men are now so wise that what the Spirit can do for them, they themselves can do even better! The truth is, though, that if there ever was a need for inspired interpreters of the Scriptures, it is today while many winds of doctrines are blowing from all directions, bringing in confusion, dissension, and disaster everywhere. No one sees eye to eye! (2 TG 41:7, 8) Let us begin our investigation with this statement by ensuing Five Questions: 1.) Do we believe Amos 1:2? 2.) Did prophet Amos declared an absolute truth, or he was just guessing? 3.) Did this prediction been fulfilled in the days of V.T. Houteff? 4.) The statement was another showdown between the prophet of God and the prophets of Baal, then tell who is he, the prophet of God mentioned in this reading? 5.) Did the SROD called the written Word of God as prophet? If so, then why is it that V.T. Houteff plainly declared, that when prophet Malachi died Gods people live in a period of time almost 300 years thus they had been without a prophet since the time of Malachi (2 SR 129) in spite of the fact, that daily, the written Word of God had been read by the priests, scribes and Pharisees in the temple? Now, lets turn back to 9 JL 1, 2 There are two main points to note in these quotations: (1) that the message and messenger here mentioned are the very last; (2) that they are to restore all things, (3) that there is danger for some to make fools of themselves by daring to tell him how to teach his message -- assuming to take Gods place! (9 JL 1, 2) If this antitypical Elijah the Tishbite being the very last messenger, he will be the one to restore all things did V.T. Houteff been able to restore all things? Now, let us read 10 TR 38 Though the nations of today do not follow the Biblical monthly calendar, that in no wise alters the fact that the original weekly cycle has never been changed. And as it is entirely independent of both the solar and the lunar calendars, had God not preserved it intact throughout all the ages, the saints, now in the times of restitution of all things, would have great difficulty to restore it and to vindicate its integrity. (10 TR 38) What does it mean by the word restore? The word restore is a transitive verb, to bring into existence again. To bring back to a former or original condition or appearance. Obviously therefore, the weekly cycle being continued with unbroken line from time immemorial, that Rome had not been able to abolish it (10 TR 37) there is no need of restoring it, for it had never been broken. Inescapably therefore, the only thing to be restored is the Biblical monthly and yearly calendar which had been broken by the exceeding great horn. The principal

reason that the Almighty God had preserved the weekly cycle intact throughout all the ages, so that the saints in the time of restitution of all things would have found no difficulty to restore the Bible Calendar and to vindicate its integrity. There is no dispute, that V.T. Houteff restored many things that had been trodden underfoot by the horn-head power. But as long as there is divine institution still unrestored it can never be called as all things. PK 678 In the time of the end every divine institution is to be restored. The breach made in the law at the time the Sabbath was changed by man, is to be repaired. Gods remnant people, standing before the world as reformers, are to show that the law of God is the foundation of all enduring reform and that the Sabbath of the fourth commandment is to stand as a memorial of creation, a constant reminder of the power of God. In clear, distinct lines they are to present the necessity of obedience to all the precepts of the Decalogue. Constrained by the love of Christ, they are to co-operate with Him in building up the waste places. They are to be repairers of the breach, restorers of paths to dwell in. (PK 678) The statement declared clearly In the time of the end every divine institution is to restored. The Bible Calendar being a divine institution must absolutely be restored. Since this portion of Truth being not unfolded to V.T. Houteff, there is only one conclusion possible he could not be the antitypical Elijah the Tishbite. The mere fact, that 9 JL 1 had been inscribed in a plural form, saying that they are to restore all things, implicitly shows that there are

TWO ELIJAHS
1 SC 4:5 Though Christ and the Gospel Workers apply this scripture to Christs first advent, any student of sacred history knows that it did not meet its perfect fulfillment there, for the Jews did not delight in Him as prophesied in Malachi 3:1, but instead, they hated him. Neither did Christ at that time purify His church as described by the prophet. But by the fact that Christ applied Malachi Three to John the Baptists message, and as this scripture did not meet its fulfillment at that time, it proves that John was a type of the Elijah that is to come before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord (Malachi 4:5), at which time the prophecy will be fulfilled in its fullness. (1 SC 4:5) Gods law of type that where there is type, there must also be antitype (9 TR 72). Now, if never before we should see that where there is a type there is also an antitype, and that where there is no type, there is no Truth. (1 TG 47:15) Is there any typical Elijah the Tishbite that experience death? Then if there is no type, there is no Truth. The SROD plainly declared: John was a type of the Elijah that is to come before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. (1 SC 4:5) And who is he the antitype? Let us read 1 TG 36:4 True, verse three found fulfillment in the work of John the Baptist; but the verses preceding and also the verses following, definitely apply to the people in the latter days and only partially to the people in Johns day. Therefore the truth stands out boldly that the direct fulfillment of this chapter is found in our time, thus making Johns work an ensample of our work -- Johns work the type, ours the antitype. (1 TG 36:4) We should not follow the ideas which stand upon implications (3 SC 3, 4:13). It is not implications, the prophet himself openly and plainly declared, by flatly saying Therefore the truth stands out boldly that the direct fulfillment of this chapter is found in our time, Johns work the type, ours the antitype. This declaration of the prophet completely resolved the issue, that V.T. Houteff is antitypical Elijah John the Baptist, and not Tishbite. GCS pages 23, 24 Since the promised Elijah is to be the last prophet to the church today, as John the Baptist was the last prophet to the church in his day, and since the last work on earth is the Judgment for the Living, the truth stands forth like the light of day that Elijahs message is the message of the Judgment for the Living, the last, which in the very nature of the gospel is of far more importance and consequence than any other message ever borne to a people. (GCs pages 23, 24) Typical John the Baptist is the last prophet of the entire periods of the two candlesticks in Rev. 11:3. V.T. Houteff as well being the antitypical Elijah John the Baptist, he must be the last prophet of the entire period of

the 7 candlesticks in Revelation 2 and 3. But antitypical Elijah the Tishbite is THE LAST OF ALL THE PROPHETS 13 TR 11 Remember ye (all who shall witness the destruction of the wicked described above] the law of Moses My servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Mal. 4:4. This command to keep the law which Moses received in Horeb, is, according to the Scriptures, to all who are to be living in the great and dreadful day of the Lord -- living when God sends to the world His last prophet, the antitypical Elijah: Behold, He says, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Mal. 4:5. (13 TR 11) V.T. Houteff was sent by God from 1929 A.D. 1955 A.D. Undoubtedly, the generation at that time by which V.T. Houteff had been sent by God, both SDA and DSDA majority of them if not all were lying unconscious to their graves at the present time. The SROD declared: Close reasoners and logical thinkers are few. (3 SC 5, 6:7) Those who take from books only sentences instead of taking the books entire will never by themselves find the truth, and therefore instead of helping others, others will have to help them (3 SC 8-10:10). We must not be superficial readers and thinkers. Let us be deep Bible students (2 TG 6:15). Let us be Gods real people, logical thinkers, not bait hunters. (2 TG 24:23) The statement all who shall witness the destruction of the wicked described above must definitely points out to the living saints the 144,000. The SROD declared: 1 SR 24 But those who never died have seen the fulfillment of Ezekiel 9; Isaiah 63; Isaiah 60; the closing of the third angels message, (the loud cry, close of probation), all of the seven last plagues, and they sing this song (of their experience and deliverance) which no man can learn save the 144,000. (1 SR 24) If this Antitypical Elijah the Tishbite is V.T .Houteff, then all the constituent of the living saints already did exist in his days. For the reading definitely declared living when God sends to the world His last prophet, the antitypical Elijah. If it is so, what chance do we stand, who did live after V.T. Houteff died? For the word living can never be applied to the time when we did not as yet in existence. Besides, how could we then apply the word all if even some of them who did accepted the SROD message from 1929 1955 could no longer witness the destruction mentioned in the reading? Think it thoroughly, brethren! The statement declared clearly to all who are to be living in the great and dreadful day of the Lord, living when God sends to the world His last prophet, the antitypical Elijah. It did not say living before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord but rather in the Great and Dreadful day of the Lord at the time when the great and dreadful day of the Lord did actually commence. 3 Ans. 88 And looking forward to the time of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, the time just ahead of us, the Lord admonishes the people who will be living at that time: Remember ye the law of Moses My servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Mal. 4:4. (3 Ans. 88) GCS 22, 23 Since the Scriptures clearly picture Elijah and his work, and also what the day is to be like, none who will humbly inquire about him and his work need to guess or to be in the dark concerning either his identity or his mission, for it is his God-given duty to publish the timely truths as revealed to him out of the prophecies. And so all who are willing and obedient, will have no trouble recognizing him and his message (John 7:17). They will know that anyone who comes with a message other than the message found in the prophecies concerning the great and dreadful day of the Lord, is not the promised Elijah. (GCS 22, 23) Our reading implicitly shows, that in order to discern this promised Elijah is to absolutely have a right conception about his mission and work. Now, let us read GCS 10, 11 I am confident that you brethren are convinced of the solid truth of what we have considered thus far. And now in proceeding further, I am sure, too, it will be agreed that if our spiritual vision is clear to discern the time in which Elijah is to appear, then we shall have less trouble discovering the true answers to the

rest of our questions. Important as it is, however, to keep in mind that the time in which to expect Elijah is before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, yet just this knowledge alone is insufficient. To know when and what the great and dreadful day itself is, is all-important. Without this knowledge, who could possibly discern Elijah when he should come? That this knowledge not escape us, Inspiration is at pains again to locate the day through Malachis prophecy. (GCS 10, 11) The statement if our spiritual vision is clear to discern the time in which Elijah is to appear, plainly indicates that there is an appointed predicted time in which this promised Elijah would appear. Inspiration declared clearly to keep in mind that the time in which to expect Elijah is: before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, yet just this knowledge alone is insufficient. To know when and what the great and dreadful day itself is, is all important. Without this knowledge, who could possibly discern Elijah when he should appear? Inspiration made it so plain, that without this knowledge, no one could be able to discern Elijah when he should appear. Now a. What is the great and dreadful day of the Lord? b. When will be the great and dreadful day of the Lord occurred? V.T. Houteff plainly stated, that the great and dreadful day of the Lord is the imminent vengeance of God (4 TR 60). Proclaiming the great and dreadful day of the Lord (Mal. 4:5), a day of slaughter (8 TR 60). Obviously therefore, V.T. Houteffs work is to declare how great and how dreadful that day would be (2 TG 8:21), or in other words, antitypical Elijah John the Baptists work (Houteffs) is to define, what is the Great and Dreadful day of The Lord? The only reason why SDA people applied TM 475, because they dont have this knowledge. For if they do have, they will never apply such predicted prophet to E.G. White, for there was no single occurrence that E.G. White been able to define what is the Great and Dreadful day of The Lord? But this knowledge alone is insufficient, we need also to learn When will that great and dreadful day of the Lord would be? And such work had been committed by God to antitypical Elijah the Tishbite. For the work of this antitypical Elijah the Tishbite particularly typifies the day of slaughter (8 TR 61). And since this event is still unfulfilled, and if this prophet is not antitypical Elijah the Tishbite, ancient Elijah must necessarily descend from heaven in order to fulfill this prophecy (9 TR 43). With such prophecy, definitely indicates that such predicted prophet would no longer taste to death otherwise if not, Elijah of old must necessarily descend from heaven. It perfectly corroborates to the statement And since this incident is yet future (the day of slaughter), it shows that there is to be a prophet in the Church. (2 TG 24:23) This is the prophet of God mentioned in 2 TG 41:7 in which points out definitely to antitypical Elijah the Tishbite that all (the living saints) shall witness the destruction of the wicked, during the second Showdown. (13 TR 11) Now, let us read 1 TR 30 JOY, MOURNING, AND WOE. And, lo, a roll of a book was therein; and he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe (Ezek. 2:9, 10) -- dire writ envisaging the slaughter in Ezekiel 9, and the woes pronounced in the Masters parables: The Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for Him, and in an hour that he is not aware of. And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt. 24:50, 51; 22:13. (1 TR 30) The phrase not aware of meaning not cognizant as of something specified, clearly shows that there must be someone who will be full aware of that day of slaughter. And since no one could proclaim that day, the day of slaughter except Elijah (GCS 12), then unto whom such knowledge is bestowed by God he must be the predicted promised antitypical Elijah the Tishbite. Plainly therefore, with such weighty evidences here amassed, there is manifestly but one conclusion possible, that V.T. Houteff as the antitypical Elijah John the Baptist,

proclaimed What is the great and dreadful day of the Lord, whereas antitypical Elijah the Tishbite will proclaim when will be the Great and Dreadful day of the Lord, according to GCS 10, 11. Let us read GCS 7, 8 Moreover, the old Devil has already put all his forces to work, piping pleasing tunes to lure Truth seekers to climb aboard his golden bandwagon. Its glittering tinsel of truth is already beguiling many with his wares while his captains and generals are to the top of their voices shouting their Hallelujahs, Holy Ghost, gift of healing, gift of tongues, gift of miracles, and all the rest, although the entire fanfare is devoid even of a spark of life. Every wind of doctrine will be blowing, false revivals and reformations will be at their peak. Everything that can be done will be done to distort the Truth and thus distract and dishearten believers and draw their attention to something other than the message of Elijah. Thus will be the Devils deal while the day of God is approaching, and while Elijah is making the announcement of it as the scroll unrolls and while the prophecies concerning the day of God are being unsealed. His work and his interpretation of the prophecies for the great day will identify him as the promised Elijah the prophet (Testimonies to Ministers, p. 475), and this will enrage the Devil as never before. Nevertheless, ones only safety will be in the teaching of Elijah, for there will be no other voice of timely Truth and authority to whom one may turn. Any others will lead their victims blind-folded into perdition. (GCS 7, 8) To re-emphasize the fact, let it be said again The trouble does not lie in the statements themselves, but rather in mans limited knowledge of the truth therein. (1 SC 4:5) And the inviolable rule that an interpretation of one inspired statement, must harmonize with all other inspired statements (3 Ans. 41). Let us connect WHR 29 Thus far, the fact stands out that this final call comes at the last hour of the parabolical day, just before the gospel work closes. Being the last message of mercy to the world, and also the last call for servants, it must therefore be borne by Elijah the prophet, by him who appears just before the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Mal. 4:5; Matt. 17:11. Accordingly, the servants of the eleventh hour must be called to the work by him during the time he is announcing the day of the Lord, the day in which the Lord takes His fan in His hand (Matt. 3:12; Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 80; Testimonies To Ministers, p. 373), and purges His floor -- blows away the chaff and burns the tares. Once He puts the wheat into His barn (Matt. 13:30), into His Kingdom-church, it ever remains without tares, and hence a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but...holy and without blemish. Eph. 5:27. Gods White House indeed! (See Isaiah 52:1, Joel 3:17, and Nahum 1:15). (WHR 29) What does it mean by the word announcing? The word announce is a transitive verb. And the word announcing is in a present progressive form (ing form) continually proclaiming. The voice of Inspiration made it so plain Accordingly, the servants of the eleventh hour must be called to the work during the time he is announcing the day of the Lord, the day in which the Lord take His fan in His own hand. If we apply this antitypical Elijah the Tishbite to V.T. Houteff, then the statement could no longer be real. The SROD made it so plain, that the dead could not speak (1 SC 14:11). The word during must be in the period of time by which such prophet is continually announcing the day of the Lord. Therefore, the word during if apply to V.T. Houteff must be from 1929 1955 A.D. but the absolute fact is, V.T. Houteff died and the 144,000 did not exist in his days. The statement did not say the servants of the eleventh hour must be called to the work through his publications but rather, the servants of the eleventh hour must be called by him (note by him) when during the time he is announcing the day of the Lord, it did not say during the time he was announcing, but rather he is announcing, in a present progressive form. Obviously therefore, the original author of the SROD commanded His servant (3 Ans. 33) to predict our present abysmal catastrophic condition. That only ones safety would be in the teaching of Elijah, for there will be no other voice of Timely Truth and authority to whom one may turn. Any others will lead their victims blindfolded into perdition. (GCS 8) GCS 30-32 Moreover, we all know that the work of typical Elijah was to do away with the prophets and priests who served Baal instead of God, those who led ancient Israel into the greatest fallacy and folly of the day.

Accordingly, the antitypical Elijahs work, being in the spirit and power of typical Elijah, must therefore be similar to typical Elijahs work -- restoring Truth and righteousness, and bringing judgment upon the false prophets and teachers in the antitypical day which in itself is the separating of the chaff from the wheat -- the work of the Judgment for the Living. The substantial weight of evidence which the Scriptures on the subject have amassed to this point, has, I am again confident, impressed the discerning one that he is here face to face with Gods solemn Truth for these closing hours of probationary time. All such who have unbiasedly thought their way through the subject this far will surely continue on now through the next part to prove all things; [and to] hold fast that which is good. Now the question: Is the ancient prophet Elijah himself to re-appear, or is some other, having the same spirit and power, to take his place? John the Baptists statement that he himself was not the Elijah, and Jesus statement that John was the Elijah of that day, not of our day, clear three points: (1) That John was not in any sense of the word fulfilling the mission of the Elijah who is to come before the great and dreadful day of the Lord, but that he, the last prophet to the church of his day, simply came in the spirit and power of Elijah, to prepare the way for the Lords first advent. So it is that the Elijah of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, the last prophet to the church of this day, comes in the same spirit and power, to prepare the way for the Lords second advent. (2) That as John was the Elijah of his day, yet not Elijah the Tishbite himself, then the promise of the prophet Elijah is not necessarily to be fulfilled in person by the ancient prophet himself. (3) That as the Elijah of Christs first advent was one person, and also as the Elijah of Mt. Carmel of old was one person, not a multitude of priests, then by parity of reasoning the Elijah of today must also be one person, not a multitude of ministers. The promise, itself, moreover, is for only one, not for more, and, with but one exception, we know not of any other time when God employed even two prophets (let alone many) at one time, to convey one message to one people. He invariably called one, and that one himself, under the direction of the Spirit, employed others to help him take the message to the people. Thus only were any others ever identified with a called one. (GCS 30-32) This reading alone is sufficient enough to enlightened such beclouded mind. Although the prophet himself who wrote such statement may not be able to comprehend the import of what he has written, according to GC 344, but through the same Spirit of Inspiration that indicted such writings can clarify whatever is involved (1 Ans. 47; 2 TG 44:31). The inspired reading plainly stated, that there are two typical Elijahs, namely the Elijah in the old testament which is one person, and the Elijah in the days of Christ which is also one person. The word today in the days of V.T. Houteff could no longer be the word today in our day, according to 1 TG 43:23. The SROD declared clearly John was a type of the Elijah that is to come before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord (1 SC 4:5). And then declared: Johns work the type, ours the antitype. (1 TG 36:4) The mere fact that V.T. Houteff plainly stated Important as it is, however, to keep in mind that the time in which to expect Elijah is, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, yet just this knowledge alone is insufficient. Why? Because there must be Elijah to come not before the coming of the Great and Dreadful day of the Lord but rather just before the Great and Dreadful day of the Lord. Antitypical Elijah John the Baptist (V.T. Houteff) comes before the coming Great and Dreadful day of the Lord according to 1 SC 4:5, which did proclaim what is the Great and Dreadful day of the Lord. Whereas antitypical Elijah the Tishbite comes just before the great and dreadful day of the Lord at the time he is announcing, when will that great and dreadful day of the Lord would be. Let us read 2 TG 37:14 You know by now that Malachi, chapters 3 and 4, prophetically speak to the people of today, to the people just before the great and dreadful day, to the people to whom antitypical Elijah the prophet is sent. (2 TG 37:14)

GCS 19 Joels two chapters give us a most compact and vivid view of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. From these alone we can clearly see what it is like. And as Elijah comes just before that day begins, he must necessarily be the one who is to interpret these prophecies of the day, and who consequently announces that the day is at hand. This surely confirms the conclusion that since Elijah is to herald the great day, he can therefore be the only one who will rightly interpret the prophecies of the day, which are still mysteries to Christendom, and even to our own Denomination! Indeed, to reiterate, it is for this very reason that the prophet is sent. He is to unroll the scroll, to explain what the day of the Lord is like, what the Lord will do then, and how we may survive His judgments. To re-emphasize the fact, let it be said again that being the last of the prophets Elijah is, therefore, the only one who can open to our understanding all the prophecies of the Scriptures pertaining to the great and dreadful day of the Lord -- prophecies which heretofore have been only mysteries to all. Thus he is, as the Scriptures say, to blow the trumpet in Zion, and to sound an alarm in Gods holy mountain, in the church. (GCS 19) Can a dead prophet still blow a trumpet? Wake up, wake up brethren before everything is too late. The statement Therefore, the Lord is urging us to blow the trumpet in Zion (the church) (2 SC 9:2) simply indicates that this antitypical Elijah the Tishbite he who is to awaken the church and to warn the Laodiceans of the great and dreadful day of the Lord make sure that he is one person. And of a surety, he is to have faithful helpers according to GCS 34. The statement in GCS page 32 is definite that God never employed two prophets at one period of time to convey one message to one people. But the absolute fact is, God invariably called one, and that one himself, under the direction of the Spirit, employed others to help him take the message to the people. Thus only were any others ever identified with a called one. Or in other words, the only shepherds which ever recognized by God as His are those appointed by the prophet to engage in the work. Let us read 1 TG 2:20, 21 Only those who gain entrance through the Door and to whom the porter (the one through whom the Spirit of Prophecy is manifested) opens are the authorized shepherds whose voices Gods sheep hear. All such shepherds call the sheep by name: They are well acquainted with their flocks because they are intensely interested in them, and they carefully lead them in and out. Here the student of present Truth will note that by this illustration Christ points out that the only shepherds that He recognizes as His are those to whom the porter opens the Door and invites them in. The student will also note that all others are branded as imposters. And the sheep that hear the false shepherds voice, He declares, are not His sheep. John 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. Since His sheep know not faces, but know voices, then, those who pay attention to faces and who cannot differentiate between voice and voice are sure to be misled by self-appointed shepherds. But those who give heed only to the Voice, the Voice of Truth, are gently led in for shelter and out for green pastures. Gods people are not bothered with faces, but they do give earnest heed to God-appointed voices uttering Truth. (1 TG 2:20, 21) When E.G. White died, the SROD used the phrase was manifested, (3 Ans. 59) therefore the statement the one through whom the Spirit of Prophecy is manifested, being in present passive tense, clearly shows that such porter must be a living one. These two passages GCS page 32 and 1 TG 2:20, 21, every honest Truth seeker, can easily determine, that such messengers who engaged in the work by which not having appointed by a called one must be a self-sent messengers. The SROD declared clearly So not having the prophetic gift among them, the __________ group must be running without being sent. (4 Ans. 80) 2 TG 24:20, 21 Without vision, you see, the people perish. And also without an interpreter and without faith they likewise perish. And this is why the Spirit of Prophecy is an absolute necessity to the people of God in all generations.

Laodiceanism today, you know, is in a worse situation than any people at any other time, for by protesting that there is no need of prophets, no need of more truth, they have already rejected them, yes, actually killed them. If they expect no more truth and if Jesus Christ Himself should come with more truth would they not crucify Him also? I know that I am not making a rash statement, not exaggerating either, and I also know that the Bible will sustain me in what I am saying, else I would not say it. We have now already seen that the Scriptures are not of private interpretation, and that Christendom as a whole has no inspired, Divinely-appointed interpreter, does not even claim to have one, and that the people are as confused as were the foolish Babel tower-buildings when their language was replaced with diversified languages. Now, then, if it is Truth that makes anyone free, and if It comes only through Inspiration, and if Christendom fails to recognize this and thus give God no chance to save it, then what is to be its fate, and also the fate of the Church itself? You know the answer. (2 TG 24:20, 21) Laodiceanism today is far more worse condition than in the days of V.T. Houteff. The SROD made it so plain, that both divine vision and divine interpreter with divine faith is in absolute necessity to the people of God in all generations. But Davidia now, at the present time are protesting that there is no need of prophet, no need of more truth. That if Jesus Himself should come with more Truth, the same as the Jews they will crucify Jesus Christ according to our reading. Would you think this statement cannot be referred to Davidians at the present time? As a whole no inspired, divinely appointed interpreter, does not even claim to have one (2 TG 24:21), think it thoroughly! And the phrase all generations would you think our generation is not included? If you accept the interpretation of the Rod that the word all does not exclude any (1 SR 218), then absolutely our generation as well needed a Divine interpreter. Remember, brethren, The word of the Lord came to Elijah; he did not seek to be the Lords messenger (5T 299), it is God who choose him. What is Baal worship? Maybe this divine prediction our natural reaction to this inspired prediction is to say, Impossible! Incredible! Since we are now living in the very close of time such deception is very deep, in which such deepness the third part of the angels in heaven had been deceived. Yes, our own conscience quietly telling us that something is wrong and that make sense after all. Who is Baal? In the language of ancient Israel, Baal was the simple word for the Lord or husband. Baal worship is the result or fruit of species of corrupted teachings that encourage a profession of a true faith in Christ showing great of Gods people. It is a terrible to think that Baal-worship has infiltrated modern Israel at the present time. But it seems it is more terrible to think in the old times, when God send unto them hundreds of prophets, yet they were greatly infiltrated with the prophets of Baal. Would you think, at the time when there is no prophets among us, would not be much more easier for such great deception? (Please read our pamphlet THE BAAL WORSHIP.) Such great deception was gradual and imperceptible. This apostasy is often misunderstood as a departure from truth so obvious and striking as to make Gods people seems unusually dull but inexcusable before God. Elijah of old with an eagles eye has a very keen mind and perception to discern it. We must remember that Elijah still lives for he never died. Would you think Elijah feel at home among us if he will descend from heaven, recognizing modern Jezebels, priests and prophets of Baal leading Gods people into the greatest fallacy and folly of the day? Immediately, he will propose a Showdown. Now, let us read GCS 30, 31 Moreover, we all know that the work of typical Elijah was to do away with the prophets and priests who served Baal instead of God, those who led ancient Israel into the greatest fallacy and folly of the day. (GCS 30, 31)

Whatever objection against the manifestation of Inspiration, in the last analysis is to put God out of sight, according to 3 Ans. 29, 30. Satans subversives have sought to sever the lines of communication between the Spirit of Truth and the people of God (WHR 54). Satan, the enemy of God and man, tried to the utmost of his ability to deeply instilled to the minds of the people that this antitypical Elijah the Tishbite is V.T. Houteff. For the devil is cognizant to the fact, that when this antitypical Elijah the Tishbite will be on the scene his power will be completely broken. Whereas, if the people will continue to believe that this antitypical Elijah the Tishbite is V.T. Houteff, the priests and prophets of Baal have more fun in distorting the Rod, - while V.T .Houteff was lying unconscious in his grave. But Inspiration declared 2 TG 2:17 Let us not fool ourselves any longer. God cannot be mocked. He will not for ever forsake His sheep, neither will He for ever retain untrustworthy shepherds herding His sheep. He will soon discharge them, and will demand that they give an account for their unfaithfulness. So it is that what a multitude of shepherds have failed to do, one shepherd, even David, will, in Gods hands, get done. (2 TG 2:17) Now, let us read 2 SR 255 This light being transmitted by marvels of typical events, is a clear manifestation that there is a type for every incident of vital interest to the church of God; which are the only positive proofs and clear explanations of divine providences. As there is no type for that which is false, teachers of theories without a typical representation for their claims of so-called Bible truths, and those who believe in them, are as the blind leading the blind. The types are worked out to expose the error and reveal the truth. The honest ones will shun the devil by embracing the facts, and by walking in the light. (2 SR 255) Heres the typological events:
