ISO 21500:2012 Guidance on project management

Extract Dr. Dagmar Zuchi

ISO
ISO is a network of national standards bodies. These national standards bodies make up the ISO membership and they represent ISO in their country.

ISO was founded in 1947, and since then have published more than 19 000 International Standards covering almost all aspects of technology and business. From food safety to computers, and agriculture to healthcare, ISO International Standards impact all our lives. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the worlds largest developer of voluntary International Standards. International Standards give state of the art specifications for products, services and good practice, helping to make industry more efficient and effective. Developed through global consensus, they help to break down barriers to international trade.

Point of Departure for ISO 21500

A lot of existing national and international standards, such as (not limited to) DIN 69 901 (Projektmanagement; Projektmanagementsysteme) BS 6079 (Project Management) GA X 50 118 (Management des Projets) ISO 10 006 (Quality in Project Management) ANSI/PMI 99-001 PMBoK . But no globally accepted harmonisation of project management

Spring 2007: Initiative from UK and US Fall 2007: 1st plenary meeting of ISO PC236 Spring 2008 January 2012: 2nd 6th plenary meetings

2007-2008 London, Oktober/November 2007: Collecting Inputs for the Guideline
