Compliance against Condition no xxxiii: Hygiene & Sanitation Measures in Project Area 1.

Lavasa Owned Labor Colonies LCL has adopted numerous procedures to ensure consistent, efficient and environmentally conscious measures at its labor colonies which include providing water, taking care of wastewater generation, providing Municipal Solid Waste Management {MSWM}services etc. LCL maintains Labor Colonies in five locations: Survey 12 in Dasve, Old Bhoini, Bhoini #1, Bhoini #2 in Bhoini, and the new Mugaon Labor Colony in Mugaon. The total capacity of these company-owned labor colonies are 6,425 nos. Highlights are as under:

The labors are inducted at the registration office in the labor camp and during the induction the importance of sanitary & hygienic measures to be followed at site is properly explained.

Labor Induction provided at the Labor registration office Repair and maintenance support is carried out for electrical and civil works. One supervisor is deputed at site to take care of these activities. A public health center is set up at Bhoini with doctors and nurses through a contract with Apollo hospital. 2. Ravines: LCL carries out cleaning ofravines within the project area. 3. Contractor Built Labor Colonies: LCL has also provided support in maintenance of contractor built labor colonies by providing housekeeping services on as required basis, MSWM services, provision of potable water and removal of sewage generated. 4. Housekeeping in Project Areas: LCL has carried out housekeeping inproject areas such as public gardens, parking areas, promenade, foot paths, hill slopes, villageareas and along all roads/streets. LCL has provided mobile toilets with housekeeping arrangements and litter bins for proper garbage disposal.

5. New Initiatives: LCL has taken new initiatives of providing sanitary services to villagers and shop establishments set up by them within the project area to ensure proper sanitary and hygiene measures. In some instances, the set up is not on LCL owned land, nevertheless, LCL is lifting& treatingsewage generated.Collection pits with provision for suction by a vehicle and arrangements for potable water have also been made.
