Acknowledgement

First of all, I want to say thanks to God for his power because He gives me strength and ideas besides of much knowledge to finish up this assignment. This task is very difficult because we need to construct a lesson plan for reading activities. Thanks to Madam Zuraihan, we have gained a lot of information during our lecture time. She teaches us many things according to the syllabus that we supposed to learn. Credits to Madam Zuraihan because without her, we are not going to finish our task and we dont have any person who can guide us and correct us when we are doing mistakes.

Justification

The proficiency level of the materials that I had chosen is suitable for students. This is because the language used is not too complex and can be easily understood by students. Students would be able to comprehend the materials.

The materials that I had chosen have a suitable content for students. This is because it does not any inappropriate and vulgar words that students may use daily. Apart from that, it does not touch any sensitive issues like racism and social discrimination.

The materials that I have chosen also contain values that students are able to practice in daily life. As teachers, we must expose a lot of reading materials to the students because they can get a lot of benefits especially to enrich their vocabularies.

Reflection

For Songs and Poetry for Young Learners subject, we are required to build a teaching kit of a song and a poem. We also need to implement the kit in class. Selecting the perfect materials is proved to be a hard task for teachers. There are a lot of aspects that teachers need to consider before choosing a suitable material in teaching. Materials are very helpful in teaching because it provide something out of the textbooks. According to Lazar (1993), when selecting materials you will need to try to find texts that are suitable for the majority of students in the class. This task had given me the opportunity to develop a teaching kit that can be used in teaching and learning session in class. It is a valuable experience that can help in improving and preparing me to become a teacher. Pedagogical principles are important in guiding me to build a teaching kit that caters to students needs. In building the kit, pedagogical principle is very useful in providing guidance to build a suitable kit for students. Seven principles in the pedagogical principles are age, interest, proficiency level, content, culture, values and resources. These principles are proved to be helpful because teachers would be able to take these principles as guidance in engaging students with the lesson. For example, in choosing a song to be used in class, I need to make sure that the content is suitable for students. Lesson would be unsuccessful if I choose a song that is hard for students to understand. Furthermore, the implementation of the kit provides me the opportunities to be a teacher in class. It was a valuable experience that would help in my teaching career. I am not very comfortable to be in front and I lack of confidence to teach in front of the class. It is essential for me to improve in this area so that I can become a better teacher in the near future. I need to learn how to be more flexible and less serious in class so that the students would not feel any tense learning with me. Apart from that, I think that I lack in creativity in handling the class. I need to improve on my creativity so that students will enjoy learning with me in the class. My strength would be my voice. I think that I have a loud voice that can be heard by the whole class. It is very important for a teacher to have loud voice in order to control the class. Loud voice can attract students attention and it would be easier for them to receive the information that I try to convey. Furthermore, a loud voice is essential so that students can listen to the instruction that I gave before starting any activity in the class. All in all, I would like to thank Madam Zuraihan for the knowledge and information that helped me to complete this assignment. My friends also did help me a lot through their comments and I will try to improve on my weaknesses in becoming an excellent teacher.

Furthermore, I am still learning and there are still a lot of improvements that I can make before becoming a teacher. This is a valuable experience for me and I would not make it a waste.
