Alwex Electricals & civil Eng. is an electrical civil engineering contracting company. Mr. Rongo, who is the IT manager, has requested the services of a Network designer to help in proposing a network solution that will meet the companys requirements. The company is grown over years and now there is need to improve your network needs. The Electrical engineers would like to be able to access LAN based Auto CAD, CAM, and CASE applications, from anywhere in the building. Supervisors would like to access clients records, material list as well as ongoing projects form the companys MIS. The company through Mr. Rongo purchased new servers and placed them in the data centre. The company has a WLAN which has approximately 25 portable laptops, these are not all, and there is still room for about 15 more laptops. High availability is a key requirement for these servers. Working area for engineers are on floors 3 through 7 of the companys building. They should be able to roam freely and access network services from any floor .Two access points have been strategically positioned and transmit to all the offices on the building as claimed by Mr. Rongo. The current network has seven segments that reach a single router that also serves the Internet. The back-end new servers are located in the same segment as those used on floor 1. The proposal to upgrade the network with fast switches and to provide faster access to the servers has been tendered. In the proposal a secure WLAN access on floors 3 through 7 should be provided.
